    No more cold food tip

That's what I've been doing, too. I use those little pyrex custard cups for my meals and they fit perfectly on the warmer. I have one next to my chair in the LR, in my home office, and at my desk at work. And the pyrex custard cups remind me of my Gramma

    Post op & work

I had some extra swelling around my hiatal hernia repair and had to go back in the hospital cause I couldn't drink anything for a few days. Then after that I still had trouble with anything but Clear liquids for another week or so. Once that was resolved things got better. I do notice that the fatigue decreases as I'm able to get more calories in. My doc wants me to get in 600-800/day at this stage. I haven't made 800 yet, but I'm feeling better at around 700 than I did at around 600.

    Post op & work

My doc said most pople take two weeks. I wanted to take four (I have extended sick leave at work) and as it happens, I'm VERY glad I did. I had a rough first couple weeks postop and I wouldn't have been able to return after two weeks. Last week was my first week back. Desk job, one hour each way commute. I only work from the office three days a week, the other two from home. I needed a nap after work every day last week.

    Coconut flour? Yes or no?

You're going to have a hard time making those muffins rise without any leavening.

Pre op diet ! Clear broth?

Clear broth = broth that you can see through, with no bits of meat, veggies, rice, etc. in it. You can find it in boxes or cans at the market.

    Alcohol

'Scuse me, but I definitely would call myself a drinker (as opposed to a nondrinker, which I definitely am not).

    Friends around you

And that's exactly what I was referring to when I said they didn't sound very supportive. Comments like that are just cruel and childish.

    Friends around you

I hate to be mean, but this doesn't sound "supportive" to me. Your friends sound pretty immature, which in fact they may be. That said, you're only in charge of you. They didn't make a life-changing decision to have surgery, you did. Did you expect them to change their eating and drinking habits because of your decision?

    Alcohol

I'm five weeks out and used to have wine nearly every night with dinner. Since surgery, I don't find the idea of a glass of wine the least bit appealing, which I never expected. I'm going to wait until my sleeve thinks more of the idea. This surprises the heck out of me, BTW.
  10. Go by what your doctor said. If he's OK with it, then go ahead - though the calcium may be hard to get down. Start with the most important (and smallest in size) pill or two, see how they sit before taking any more.
  11. Honestly, these are questions only your surgeon can answer, and only with the aid of diagnostic testing. I'm so sorry you are feeling this way. A UTI will make you feel very tired. I don't know what to say about the strawberries (I'm five weeks out and my plan doesn't allow fresh fruits yet), but strawberries are mostly Water. What are you doing for Protein?

    55% gastric sleeve!?

With a BMI of 32, surgeon may decide that doing the normal amount of restriction could lead you to lose too much weight - I'd get a second opinion if it were me.
  13. It depends. Some people find that food they liked and ate without trouble preop aren't tolerated as well postop. And some find that foods that appealed to them preop don't appeal to them postop. As an example, I was a big coffee (decaf) drinker preop. I haven't had a cup of coffee i over five weeks and I haven't wanted one yet. Based on what I've seen posted here, you really can't predict preop how things will be postop.

    Weight Loss Pill

    Why would you need to?

    I think I'm scared

I had a tough time at first - my sleeve is a Diva and only wanted Clear liquids for a while. I've been very careful about adding new things, and this week I tried two new things and they were both really tasty and they both worked! I'd been a big coffee drinker, though I'd drunk decaf for years. Funny thing, though, I haven't had a cup of coffee since my surgery, I don't want coffee yet. I really thought I'd miss my wine, but I haven't missed it! Anybody comes near my cinnamon-herb tea, though, and they take their life in their hands

    Waist measurement

Don't forget that with significant weight loss comes extra skin. After losing > 100 lbs, some of your waist circumference isn't fat, it's extra skin. Extra skin isn't a health risk!

    I think I'm scared

When I first started semisolids, it was a bit hard to enjoy things because I had to struggle to get my calories in. More recently though, I've really been enjoying how satisfying a teeny amount of something can be. I found some soy-ginger fish filets about a week ago that are really tasty, and I was totally happy having just two ounces of fish. Tonight I made spaghetti & meatballs (thank you, TJ's, for the meatballs) for Huz, and I had two meatballs with tomato sauce, again about two ounces. I had one to see how it would sit, then had another. Such small amounts, so satisfying, and I met my Protein and calorie goals for the day, too!
  18. Oh man, switching from days to nights can do a number on you. When I first started working nights back in the 1980's, I actually lost 10 lbs cause I never knew when to eat, since eating made me sleepy. Congratulations on your promotion, getting through the past couple semesters, and taking control of your life back!

    I think I'm scared

Let me share something with you. I'm five weeks postop. I have not been hungry ONCE since my surgery. Yes, there are some things that work better than others, some things are tastier than others, but I haven't been hungry once. It's pretty amazing! I actually eat on a schedule, because if I didn't, I wouldn't eat. So hang in there, it gets better!

    Just got home

Vomiting is VERY common after surgery. Did you get sent home with medication for nausea? Use it! Keep your sips small, a lot of us have the issue with vomiting if we eat too fast - and that includes liquids. Finally, I know it's the weekend, but if you get concerned, call your surgeon. Somone is always on call 24/7.

    I think I'm scared

You know that's totally and completely normal, right? After all the hurry and scurry of the preop process, sometimes I think there is nowhere for all that energy to go when you get down closer and closer to your surgery date, except worrying about all the "what-if's". I've only been here since last Fall, and I can't tell you how many times I've seen similar posts to yours. It's hard to imagine life post-op. It's hard (for a lot of us) to imagine actually being successful at weight loss after years (decades, for some of us) of success that didn't prove either complete or long-term. But this is different. It's real. It's life-changing. And it's GOOD. You've got this!
  22. Six, also robotic assist, that includes an extra incision for the hiatal hernia repair.
  23. BTW, your surgeon may require three months, but the three months "suggested" by the Blue Shield policy is only to make time for preop workups. It took that long for me to get the GI consult, EGD, and sleep study my surgeon required. Believe me when I tell you, if Blue Shield "required" anything, it would be stated that way in the policy. My surgeon's office actually had some knucklehead from Blue Shield Provider line try to tell her "there is no medical policy for bariatric surgery". She said "Really? Then what is this that I'm looking at online right now?". Yeah. That led to a call with a supervisor and some retraining. People go off cheat sheets on their desk instead of looking up the flippin' policy. Grr.
  24. Time to switch offices, then. Dr. Chin's office wouldn't believe me about the change in policy. You can also call Barbara at JMPN, she processes the auths and she knows about the change.

    Pureed food suggestions

If you aren't into blender-ing everything, cottage cheese, soft-boiled eggs, and refried Beans have been my mainstays. I make sure I eat a half-cup of the beans every day for the Fiber.
