Plateau or Danger Signs: What to Expect
choward18 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am three weeks post op. Lost 9 lbs with the pre-op diet, now have lost a total of 28 lbs. Doctor moved me to soft foods because I have had no problems with pain, nausea, or dumping. But now I am getting worried. Have been on soft foods for a week. I thought I would only be able to eat a little bit per meal. The reality is that I am not having a problem eating more than that. I thought my body would stop me from eating more than a 1/2 cup or so. Is this normal? I am feeling hungry. And I think I am grazing. . . not bad stuff, a little more Protein (cottage cheese, shaved deli chicken, peanut butter) but I thought the hunger would go away. And I have not lost any more weight since going on soft foods. I haven't gained but I haven't lost. Is this all normal or am I hitting a behavioral brick wall already. I really didn't think that I would have to diet the rest of my life after the sleeve. I thought my body would regulate me, not my head. What is going on? -

Wow, I am already struggling with what to eat. My diet calls for strained blenderized Soups, Protein shakes, sugar free pudding or apple sauce, smoothies, greek yogurt. Everything is sweet! Tried strained cream of chicken Soup tonite but couldn't eat much of it. Any suggestions for foods that have worked for you so far that aren't sweet. Everything just seems to be sweet. And sweet isn't getting it . . .isn't that amazing? -

Surgery went smoothly and I am home now. Haven't had any nausea and limited pain, more aching than pain. Sneezed three times today and that was a challenge!!! My shakes taste terrible ......just do not want food but forcing myself to get the 60 g Protein in and all the liquid. -

Tomorrow is the day but I am nervous. I lost 9 lbs on the pre op diet and I did OK holding to what I was allowed to eat pretty much, but lousy at the liquids and at exercise. I don't want to fail at this but I realize I must have more self discipline. Anyone else out there feeling the same as me? -
My pre op diet allows 3 Carnation breakfasts, 2 lean cuisine meals and 2 cups of vegetables. Not too bad at all.

I'm on day 6 of the pre diet and have lost 8 lbs. already. It's not been too bad but I am allowed more calories than 800. But hang in there . . it will soon be over.

I am on the pre diet for just and have lost 7 lbs. already. I am struggling, tho, to get the exercise in. I must do better. I found it really confusing to remember when to take my regular meds, when to take the Vitamins, etc . I made out timetable for each day in 2 hour incremebts and entered what I should be having in foods, liquids, meds, vitamins, and it is helping me a lot stay on track. -

I'm new to this site. So how do we all keep in contact> Do we "friend" or do we just keep this topic open and keep posting to it? Or is there a limit to how long a topic can be kept open? Now down 5 lbs. on the pre op diet. Yeah! -

I'm scheduled for December 21st too. Scared but I know this is the right thing to do. Am on the pre diet now and have already lost 4 lbs. Would like to friend others scheduled for the same day.
