Eroded Band, Aborted Bypass Surgery
Tina1969 replied to kissalvoe's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Mine was done in one step. There was damage to my stomach as well so the pouch had to go further down then normal. As a result I feel little restriction yet. Still on soft foods but it's frustrating. I wish he'd done it in two steps. Best wishes to you. -
Band removed today....one step closer to bypass
Tina1969 replied to YumiMumi's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had my band in 2009. Got it removed on 10/29 and Dr did bypass the same day. So glad it was done at one time. Doing well. Most of pain was from port site not bypass area. Weird. Onto soft foods already and doing great. Down 21 lbs at Dr visit 2 weeks post op. I wish you well. -
I'm moving from Band to RNY on the 29th of October. The band which I got in 2009 helped me lose 150lbs but also gave me severe gastrparesis. My stomach will no longer digest food. It goes in and sits there for days. Becomes septic. I get ill. It's miserable. Worst decision ever. My surgeon is hopeful this will fix the issue. But he cautioned me it could be a rough surgery because they don't know the true extent of damage done by my band and the gastrparesis until they open me up. That's not comforting to hear. I hear soooo many horror stories on social media. I think I'm prepared. The liquid diet has been rough. My stomach has reacted with severe nausea and constant hunger pains. Not a fun combination. Only 9 days till they cut me feels both like it's moving to fast and taking an eternity to get here. I'm just scared. I'm a single mom of a 9 yr old autistic boy and can't afford to be out of commission a long time. So many thoughts twirling thru my head. No longer sleeping. Just nerves I guess. They are changing 80% of the medicine I've been taking for 5 years this week to more Bariatric friendly meds. Will I be as stable? Will they work as good? So many unanswered questions. Thanks for letting me rant.

Surgery next Thursday- TERRIFIED

Surgery went well. Went home next day. Then developed a serious Iilus. Which sucked. Back in hospital for 4 days. -
Did anyone else not do well on liquid diet before surgery? I'm so nauseous.

I don't know if I'm allowed to go to baileys support group. Dr Varnell is one of their main Drs and he's my dr but my surgery is at city plex. But their support group seemed very lacking when I went last month

Do either of you attend a support group in Tulsa? V

Pre surgery diet nausea
Tina1969 replied to Tina1969's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Those are only shakes allowed pre surgery. -
Date getting closer. Not losing like I should on preop diet. I don't know why. Haven't cheated at all. Most I'm getting is 600 calories. You'd think I'd be losing.
-
That's awesome. Where did you have your surgery? How far out are you?

Pre surgery diet nausea
Tina1969 replied to Tina1969's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Carnation instant breakfast sugar free 60 calories 12 carbs with water 4 a day and broth 15 calories up to 3 a day. Jello 15 calories , Popsicle 15 calories. Equaling about 400 a day. Definitely not the 1300 I was getting use to pre liquid diet. -

New here.. anyone have surgery around October 30?
Tina1969 replied to scubav85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is the 29th as well. How you doing on liquid diet? -
Had the topic. Feel she will. The food funeral was more me then her. However the pre op diet is KILLING ME!!!! How do people do it. I don't mind shakes but broth and jello. ??? Everything in the house smells sooooo good. It's crazy. But so far so good. Two days down 11 to go.
-
What am I doing? I start my liquid diet tomorrow. So what do I do for supper? I go out with my BFF and we share some appetizers and I have a mudslide. Because they are things I probably won't have again. I totally went crazy. Now the regret sets in. I have to lose 10-15 lbs in the next 14 days to have my surgery from lap band gone terribly wrong to RNY. Why would I sabotage that for some queso and liquor? I mean really. What a bad choice!!!

Gastroparesis or paralyzed remnant/excluded stomach after gastric bypass
Tina1969 replied to jmb5839's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had band in 2009. I've lost 150 lbs. down to 270. But it caused me to develop gastrparesis and pyloric valve spasms so my stomach has basically stopped digesting all food. It goes in and sits for days. Feel nauseous and vomit continually. So they've pushed thru a RNY in 2 1/2 months. I have it in two weeks. Problem is I missed all the pre op education usually associated with the surgery so feeling very nervous. Done lots of research on my own but not the same as professional instruction. Dr says to expect a rough surgery because of the shape my stomach is in. Doesn't exactly reduce ones anxiety does it? ▶️. If your stomach is bypassed why is your gastrparesis still an issue? Dr said it would resolve it. Curious now. -
