Premier Protein Ins. Coverage
peglynmc replied to peglynmc's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Thank you both. Did you need a script? My insurance knows I'm having the surgery they have already approved. I'll give it a try. Thank you -
I know that this is an odd question. Are there any studies that show an increase in various cancers later in for people that have had bariatric surgery?

That makes I was just wondering. I'm just waiting on my surgery date as soon as there is an opening in the schedule. Now I have all these thoughts going thru my mind. -
Anyone else living with a person with mental illness? How do you keep focused on your health?
peglynmc replied to VDB's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm sorry that you are dealling with this I know somewhat how difficult it can be. My grown son moved back in with me a year ago due to CHF and he is very draining. Do you have children or a relative that would like to come over and spend the day with your wife from time to time? If you live in a large city there should be support groups for Bipolar spouses or Codependents Anon. I've found that the CODA groups to be very helpful. As for intimacy many of the medications that she is taking have contributed to that issue maybe you could talk with her doctor about that. I hope you find some much needed respite. -

Exercise for the sake of exercise
peglynmc replied to TheRealMeIsHere!'s topic in Fitness & Exercise
It sounds like you need more stimulation and maybe not necessarily exercise. Do you have a hospital nearby? They always need volunteers and you can volunteer for as little as four hours a day one day per week. Or at the library they have reading programs where you help people learn how to read it only takes an hour or two of your time or however much you want to put in. How about volunteering a few hours a week at a homeless shelter? Sometimes you just need to get out of your own head and into something else and volunteering is a great way to do that. In fact there is a volunteer website that you can put in your zip code and it brings up all the opportunities around your area. I'll find it. -
What is a good comfortable walking tennis shoe for someone 5'1" 280 lbs? I'm pre surgery and want to get started walking now but every shoe I've bought hurts my feet in no time at all. I've even been fitted at The Walking co. and thought I had good shoes but after a few weeks home my feet were killing me to walk. I've tried every brand that I can find. New Balance Brooks Abeo and more.

If you have cable most cable have an exercise or fitness channell that have all kinds of routines even chair aerobics and yoga also the YMCA offers chair (sitting) aerobics and yoga) There are hundreds of fitness dvds that you can get from the library (no cost) also they have sitting aerobics, exercise, and yoga. Have you searched on line for Free Things To Do in your city maybe a museum or other? -
Exercise for the sake of exercise

If you live near a YMCA they usually base that on your income and I believe that Planet Fitness is only like 10-12$ per month. It's 10$ here in Indianapolis with no contract also YMCA is no contract and they have pools and water aerobics and water aerobics for arthritis both are low impact. -
Thank you I'll take a look at those. Are they sold exclusively online or do any stores carry them?
-
It's pretty much the whole foot. The shoes seem to break down quickly. I've bought shoes that feel good in the store and get them home and after a few days the soles of my feet feel like I'm walking on rocks. I do have a YMCA that has water aerobics. I will do the aqua aerobics.
-
Thank you Kinda Familiar I just looked at those online unfortunately I need a very cushiony shock absorbing shoe due to severe osteoarthritis in both knees.

I too have a sugar addiction and I'm presurgery. I've talked to three people at support groups that have told me they didn't have a problem eating anything from day one even sweets and never had dumping. This really concerns me. Part of the reason I want the surgery is that I can't do this on my own I need this tool.

2 weeks beyond surgery still hungry 2,200 calories a day what's wrong?
peglynmc replied to Dallas Powell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just a suggestion but how about seeing a gastroenterologist (out of your network not a partner of your doctor) and letting them know some of your fears and tell them you need a second opinion. They can do tests to determine how quickly your food is passing through and digesting and can determine if an EGD(camera) would be safe to take a look around in there at your pouch. You may have to pay for this, make a payment arrangement through the patient financial counselor if need be, you need a second opinion. -
Finding balance / sustainability with food
peglynmc replied to Daisee68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really appreciate and can relate to thia feed. I am pre surgery and I know that I am a food addict. Relapsing, binging or failing after surgery is a big concern for me. I've had my psych appointment I have one more dietian appointment and I'm reading many suggested books but I'm still concerned. -
I'm pre op and have been trying out Vitamin Water Zero, Power Ade Zero and some of the other flavored waters. I have an Infuser water bottle that I use with oranges or lemons and plain water now and I'm wondering if anyone has tried that after surgery?
-
That's a great idea and I love mint. I never thought of that. Thank you.
-
I'm still pre surgery and am having surgery here in the states. My question is has anyone went to the docs in Mexico for their plastics after having gastric bypass here in the states? How did you tell your docs in the states and were they supportive? Thank you
-
That looks beautiful! I'm pre surgery and my hair has been thin on top for awhile now.
