I think I may have a milk allergy. I have been taking the meds for the gastritis issues and it seems to have helped with things like tomato and coffee, but I have been having a miserable time with yogurt....my all time favortie post band Breakfast. It burns like heck, then my throat feel all congested. I had to stop ice-cream a while back because of the burning and then a lot of mucous after eating it. I always just blamed it on the gastritis. Now I am beginning to wonder if I don't have a couple of things going on at the same time. I have an appt on Friday and will bring it up. From what I have been reading I would not be surprised if this is my problem. It will make life a bit tricky though. I don't like the idea of taking in a ton of soy Protein and whey is so easy to use. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I will miss my Greek yogurt! Christine

I am so ready to throw my scale in the street. Actually that would be too nice a death for that dang piece of trash that will not budge from the dang number 220!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!! Christine---hanging my head in shame at my outburst---

Yes sound like an unproductive PB. Not nice, but it totally sounds like what I've had happen in the past. After a PB (or stuck with pain episode) I do liquids for a day or two depending on how bad it was. Christine

Sue, 3cc's is a very aggressive fill. Take it easy and be sure to do the liquids and then the mushies. I can't get over the fact that it sounds like he went from "no fill needed" to a very agressive 3 cc's....wow! I hope it's just what you needed. Christine

I had to go to a work related meeting last week at a ritzy place. They served drinks, appetizers and dinner...not to mention dessert. Well I had an asparagus puff (bite size) and a bite of the salad and then 2 pices of the penne ala vodka. When dinner came I had about 4 bites of salmon and was DONE. My new co-workers did not know about my surgery and they kept on pestering me to eat. Eventually I caved and told them I had the surgery and could only eat small amounts, but this really is not the way I wanted it to go. How have you handled a similar situation? Thankfully I don't have many work related dinners, but I'd like to have some way out planned for the next time I am in this type of situation. Christine

OK, the scale is not moving, but my body is shrinking.....Today I bought a pair of Size 16 pants!!! I have not been in a size 16 since about 24 years ago! So even though the scale is stagnating, my body is moving. Christine

Hey guys! Sorry I've been MIA...DH's mom passed away Sat so we were off to California and he's still out htere I flew home with the kids and between the kids and work and this danged pinched nerve in my Lt shoulder it's been crazy here. I am glad to hear you are all doing so well! Chris...I was thinking about you so often. Glad to hear it went well. PM me if you want to schedule some time to meet and walk at the SV Mall. We can stroll with the kids. Sue....I met with B. Norman yesterday. She's such a sweetie. She says hello to you. She's thinking about the band. Had tons of questions, but does not feel ready yet. I can't make it to the get together on the 10th. DH and no one to watch the kids. I hope there will be another. Christine Terminally stuck....ready to toss the scale into the street and run it over and over and over and over!

Hey guys sorry I've been MIA. I was so busy right before T-Day and then worked Fri and Sat AM DH got the call that his mom passed away. So we packed up the kids and went to California. It was quite an experience...I've never been through an Islamic burial and all the stuff that goes along with death in my DH's culture. It was exhausting. I then flew back with the kids and went back to work. I'm still working on getting all the left overs out of the fridge from T-day and preparing for Christmas. DH is still in California and on Weds will return to work in North Carolina (this time). I'm exhausted and have a horrible pinched nerve behind my left shoulder and into my neck. I even resorted to taking one of my Percocet's left over from my surgery. Fenton...sounds like you are doing REALLY well! I am so happy that you have found your way back on track. Sugar....congrats on making it to onederland!! My plateau has lasted so long I don't feel like the scale will ever move again. Rhonda...your transformation is AMAZING! You are an inspiration. Amanda....hang in there. Hope....congrats on your 50 pound loss!!! Harley....I never mentioned it but I love your dress. It is beautiful! I hope you will post a picture of yourself in it. Christine

Got a 0.5cc fill yesterday. I had my unfill early in October and now they are going really slowly until we get the gastritis issues under better/ more predictable control. They were impressed that I was able to lose4 pounds since my unfill...I however wish it was more. I go back on Dec 19th. They gave me a prescription to take everyday which they say should stop the flare ups.....which would be so nice. Hope everyone has a great day! Christine

It's funny, because once I hit the 60lbs lost mark, I realised that that was half my excess wieght. The advertised statistic that goes with the lap band. My MD does no thave a goal for me, but in my initial consult days had mentioned me getting to about 160! I almost fell off my chair....could not fathom that kind of number ever, but now I see it as attainable. Of course it would be so nice if the scale would start moving again for me, but I know it will soon. I see that surgeon tomorrow. I hope all goes well and I get a small fill. Way too hungry. I make better choices when I have more restriction. Christine

Sue!!! Congratualtions!!! You are doing so well! I have been at a standstill as far as the weightloss goes for a few weeks, but I have started excersizing!!! Yipee for me!! I have been getting up and getting on the treadmill every morning. I find I have so much energy in the mornings now.....It's an amazing high. I can't do it in the evenings because the kids drive me nuts, but for now the mornings will suffice. I have to thank you and Amanda for the push in the excersize direction!....I actually ran today!!! *Can you tell I'm excited?* Take care and keep up the great work! I have a appointment for a fill on Tuesday. I can't wait to hear what they have to say as far as my tummy issues, but also need a fill. Christine

Hey there, I went for a BS with a major in Sonography, but there are 2 year programs out there. Just make sure they give you internships as part of the program. To become registered you need to have performed a certain number of exams and that's hard to do without an internship, and without hands on training vrtually no one will hire you. It is a great field. I did not like the whole radiation exposure thing that goes with x-ray....just a paranoia of mine. Good luck with whatever you decide. Christine

I was going to skip my workout this AM, since I am off today. But instead, I convinced myself I love the energy jolt it gives me for about 4 hours each day....it really wakes me up. So I did it....3 days in a row! Christine

Congratulations Sugar!! Way to go!! Christine

OK, so I did it. I think it's a good way to start the day. Fenton, I too would have to lose about 21 lbs in 6 weeks...with lots of baking etc thrown in because of the holidays. Don't know if I can do it, but I'm going to give it a try! Christine

I will put the meeting on the calendar. I hope I can get there for at least one of the days. I too have had trouble logging on recently. Glad to know I'm not alone. I am hosting Thanksgiving and I will be seeing the surgeon on the Tues before, so depending on what we decide to do about a fill I may be on mushies. I will have a little of everything...which means some turkey and a bite or two of my favorite sweet potato cassarole and a cauliflower dish that was in Cooking Light magazine this month. I know mashed potatoes are not worth it and the other veggies will just be steamed carrots and broccoli. I will have a bite of pumpkin pie. I have been focusing on getting my excersize time worked out. I have decided earlier works better for me. So I have decided to try out 6:30 AM instead of 7:00 PM. it's amazing how distracting an 8, 4, and 2 year old can be while trying to focus on excersize at 7PM. So it's back to the morning routine. With my new job, it's more do-able since I can do it at 6:30 AM instead of 5:00 AM. I will let you know how it goes. Fenton, glad to hear it's only 17 pounds! In the past I've gone on diets and lost 40 pounds and within 3 months gained it all plus a few extra back! So now let's see if you can get to your 100 pound off mark by the turn of the year. I plan on getting to Onederland by then, but I am running out of time, so how about a little competition? Christine

Hey Amanda...It was great meeting you yesterday. I have scheduled treadmill time for myself at 7PM. I will do this! Tess, I LOVE Amanda's suggestion of floating the donut...gues he would have to get the point. My DH does something similar....he buys me my favorite pre-band sundae. He's not home very often, so not a huge problem, and it also has hot fudge and chocolate sends me spiraling into pain for days, so now there is little temptation. BTW donuts make me puke so no temptation there either. Christine

Wow Fenton, sounds like you are back on track. Having a motivating factor always helps. I am meeting with a couple of women who I met on the Local BB, one who has been banded about 3 months, the other will be banded next week. It would be great to know some real life people going through this experience. One lives in my town, so maybe we could even get together for walks or excersize. Ate some steak last night and did not think there was any problem, but I guess I must have been stuck, because I still don't feel right and have been on warm liquids all day. Hope everyone had a great weekend! BTW, DH had his biopsy on Friday....it was just a lipoma and they are just going to watch it. Thanks for all the well wishes. Christine

BTW, I had surgery with NYU doc's, but we were not allowed cottage cheese until the mushie phase post-op. Not pre-op. I am an ultrasound tech, and I was a bit skeptical about the pre-op diet shrinking the liver, so I looked at and measured mine before and after....it was amazing! It shrunk by 3 cm and was a lot less fatty. Made a big difference! Christine

Hey Sue and CHris see you today at 2:00. I'll be wearing black pants and a black sweater over a lavender shirt. I have really curly hair that's hard to miss and my clothes are too big (LOL). Lisa...I too had the runs after surgery. Just be sure to keep hydrated and get lots of rest. Christine

Fenton, sorry if I came across wrong. It was early...hence all the typo's and I guess a bit of snippy-ness. Christine

Living life with the band is a HUGE change for us. I too use to enjoy going out to eat. I loved someone else coking for me, trying new things...desert! Not drinking and eating at the same time changes the social side of it for me quite a bit. If I have a drink before my meal, I can't eat, so it's Water to sip for me. When eating out I do try to stick with safe foods....because often I worry that I won't pay attention to how well I am chewing because I am socializing. Forget the desert...there is no room. Often 3/4 of the meal is left on the plate (taken home to eat for a few days after). It's a change, but I need this, I chose this, I could not do it on my own. Fenton, you were well informed before surgery what the "after-life" with a band would entail. All the sacrifices are worth it. Once you have restriction, you will still enjoy food, but it will be different. Much smaller quantities. Rhonda.....You are amazing! Congratulations on your amazing progress! Christine

Ok, see youat 2:00 at the Starbucks on Main St. Good luck to all getting banded today! Christine
-
Amanda...great mental picture I have of you doing yoga! LOL! I tired it and found my boobs were suffocating me in many of the poses. Christine
-
I can't believe there is another Chris in Sayville who is banded. I too am in Sayville and I had to back track to see if it was me you were referring to. Talk about a small world. I don't want to barge in, but let me know if you want company at Starbucks on Sunday. I know I am new to this BB, so I totally understand if you'd rather get to know me on line first. Christine
