My name is Stephanie and I have elected to have the Bariatric Sleeve surgery. I am due to have my surgery in mid-November, 2015. I am excited and nervous about it and wanted to join a support group online. I have a wonderful husband and two amazing kids - my daughter is 10 years old and my son is 3. My family is supporting me on this journey and I am anxious to get started. I don't have a lot of time to go to an in-person support group since I work full-time and take care of my kids after work while my husband works, so I knew I needed to find one online. This seems to be a great place to get support online and I am happy to have found it. :)
 
I have been severely obese for about 6 years. Before that I struggled with my weight, but not to the extreme that it is today. I have tried MANY diets and no matter what I do, the weight always comes back plus some. I now have sleep apnea and a fatty liver and upon receiving the last diagnosis of fatty liver, I knew I had to do something drastic in order to keep myself from receiving more bad news about my  health. I want to be there for my kids and I don't want my family to have to take care of me. My mom was the one who brought up bariatric surgery and once I looked into it, I knew it was the right decision for me and ever since then I have been reading books about it and doing research to learn all I can about the surgery and the lifestyle changes afterwards.
 
I feel very blessed to be able to have bariatric surgery as an option and also to have found such a great support here online. I look forward to meeting many of you on this important journey for our health!
