Crunchy snack ideas that are high protein low carb? Go!
sorrynomore replied to mommyto3kids's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Genisoy is a co that makes soy crisps, they come is sea salt and ranch and are kind of like tiny thin rice cakes. I love them and dipped in salsa I they are just like tortilla chips. I'll put a smudge of peanut butter and jelly on them when I want something sweet. I highly recommend them. -
I know decaf coffee is ok but can anyone tell me when they were able to drink coffee with caffeine?
-
I'm doing fine with out the caffeine but I'm also home lol I'm a nurse and when I go back I'm on my feet all day Blah blah blah lol so it'd be nice to know I can if it came down to it lol
-
Skim milk And probably stevia. I'm heading back to work this Wednesday and I'm actually thinking about scraping the coffee altogether but still it would be nice to know lol
-
Also I keep protein bars around and in my purse just in case. The think thin bars are great, 20 grams of protein and taste really good.

I will cook a chicken breast and keep it in the fridge, that way it will be enough for about 4 days. I'll chop it up and add it to some ricotta and sauce, or salsa and light sour cream, or hummus. Those have been a few of my faves. I always keep boca soy 'chicken' burgers in the freezer. I can only eat about half of one but they reheat ok. And I'll make a bean salad with chi chi, black beans, kindney beans and canelli beans with some Italian dressing and keep it on the fridge. It's great protein and lasts all week. Also, I make a wrap with the 100 calorie tortilla and use hummus or the baby bel wedge spread cheese and various veggies. I'll cut that in half and that's 2 meals. I'm getting ready to go back to work so I've been meal prepping too lol

Post-op diet week 3
sorrynomore replied to gsusser's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I loved a bit of chicken or turkey chopped real fine with a plop of ricotta cheese and a bit of sauce (as long as the sauce doesn't bother) and heated it up. I eat a lot of turkey/chicken with hummus, ricotta,- any thing low cal that will moisten the food. I didn't puree or put stuff in a blender because I actually found for me it kind of added air - sound weird I know. I just cur everything real well and chewed like crazy lol And yes lots of scrambled eggs lol -
I am eating scrambled eggs- not the whole egg, I had some smashed avacado, refried beans with a bit a melted cheese, chicken moistened with a bit of gravy ( I really don't like gravy but the nut said it would be best to make it less dry) really anything that can mashed or mushed.. In very small amounts with protein first. I'm not a big meat eater but the chicken I can do.

Pureed Recipes needed please!

I am in the same stage and have been loving a bit of ricotta with a bit of sauce and a bit of shredded low fat mozzarella cheese. Heated up its so good. My doctor basically said at my post op to keep it to mushy foods, protein first, no bread, no pasta, no rice, but pretty much try what ever as long as it's mushy. -
Is Chicken Rice Soup considered mushy?

Thanks for all the tips! Tomorrow I start my 'puréed' part and am pretty happy about it lol -
Questions- I am 10 days post op and am having the worst time getting my protein shakes down. Like almost gag worthy status. I am doing yogurt, even though that's really a minuscule amount. Any suggestions? Also has anyone experienced an awful taste in their mouth? It's so awful and combined with the protein shakes it's 10x's worse, is this normal?

Post Surgery Hunger
sorrynomore replied to dafurrer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 10 days post op and found that if I up my water sips and I added an extra omeprazole I don't have that 'hunger pain' -
What about the sugar free pudding? That may help with any sweet cravings.

Post op 4 days need help
sorrynomore replied to lizag234's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on day 6 post op and have the same hunger issues. I've been measuring out my protein shakes about 6-8 oz at a time and I put it in a coffee mug with ice. If I feel the hunger then I drink the shake. It does help but it definitely is actual stomach growling . I have been taking one omeprazole a day but maybe I'll talk to the dr about upping it. -
I'm on day 5 post op, and have been drinking tons of water (about 50 oz) and getting in the 60grams of protein, and even added 4 oz of yogurt once a day. But I am legit hungry. Does anyone else experience this? I know they say it just means you're thirsty but I'm taking in so much fluid and my stomach still growls.. Is it just me?
-
Thanks! I've been taking the omeprazole once a day and I have the premier protein shakes that I really like, the are 30 grams of protein for 11 ounces so I usually drink half at a time and two shakes a day.

Correction- I was surprised I DIDNT cheat my pre-op week lol

sorrynomore replied to BairwithMe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also was sleeved on the 19th, how are you feeling? I feel better already! Minimal pain. I hope everything went well!! -
Also I found that the crystal light ice tea is so easy to drink, in the hospital they lemonade (heartburn city) and the raspberry (cough syrup) lol once I got home an used the ice tea it was so easy to get the crystal light down. Plain water was very hard for me. Did anyone start their light yogurt when they got home? Hospital said no but papers the dr have had it on there

I'm day 3 post-op and feeling pretty good!
-
I had my sleeve on Monday and came home today. I had horrible "hunger" pains. Like when your stomach has to growl so bad it hurts, everyone kept saying it was just gas pain. I can tell you that that pain had started to go away today on day 3.
-
Tomorrow is the big day, 6:30am arrival 9:45 surgery, am anxious to get it over with lol was seriously surprised that I was not cheating through the pre-op and surprised at how great I felt! Thanks for all the great stories and info ????

I'm not sure how the guidlines work, but I'm in NY and if there aren't any serious medical reasons (other than obesity) your BMI has to be 40+ to qualify through ins.

I'm curious, as it seems from reading through here that everyone's pre op is a bit different. I am having surgery Monday October 19, and am Currently finishing day 4 of my pre op diet. I actually really like the premier protein drinks but that's about all I can stomach. Which I'm assuming is ok? My pre-op consists of premier for break fast, light yogurt snack, premier for lunch, 1 cup of broth snack, then 4 oz chicken and 2 cups of steamed veggies for dinner and j can add a yogurt or fruit if I want. I'm definitely feeling physically better and def more tired with an intake of around under 500 calories a day.. I have always been a huge water drink and have been drinking about 80oz a day (I usually drink about 40-50) but I always use those powder flavors like crystal light those are ok aren't they? Any tips?
