Called the hospital yesterday and am scheduled for Wednesday! Going to see if I qualify and fill out paperwork. Did you all take someone with you to your first appointment or go solo? I'm not sure what to expect. Going to Riverside Hospital in Ohio.

Thanks guys! My hubby can't come unfortunately because he has to work. However I was thinking of taking my step mom. Just wasn't sure if I would need to be "examined" and if so, bringing her would be incredibly awkward!

Just posted this morning under the thread I have listed.... I have Optimum Nutrition (ON) Gold Standard 100% whey powder in Double Rich chocolate and one in salted Carmel. I mix it with Silk Unsweetened Soy Milk and place in the fridge overnight. Can't drink it directly after mixing because it gives off a terrible smell. After it sat overnight it literally was delicious and I have a huge taste and smell aversion issue to tons of things. ON comes highly recommended (over 11,000+ reviews alone on Amazon. Plus if you purchase at a Vitamin Shoppe and don't like the taste, you can return it for a full refund. Try different flavors and once you know what you like order cheap online.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I have great news! The fridge trick WORKED! I mixed a scoop of Optimum Nutrition (ON) 100% Whey Double Rich chocolate with 6oz of Silk Unsweetened Vanilla Soy Milk and left it overnight in the fridge. This morning-no clumps (though this is a high quality powder and dissolves well), no smell and tastes like a rich chocolate milk! My face is split into a huge grin, because if I couldn't stomach these there would be no way I could sustain the surgery. Definitely going to try other flavored this way but starting the day off right! ????

Have any of you tried placing them mixed in the fridge overnight and notice any difference? I think I might pour mine out of the blender bottle and into a cup with a straw through a lid until I can stomach them.

I have a Blender Bottle now-perhaps trying chocolate will be better. Crossing fingers the fridge trick will work because it is supposed to stop the gassy feeling from creating burps too! Worse case I will return both and get unflavored. I just want to make it as close to what I'd have to do post surgery so I can make it a habit now.

I did keep the receipt and purchased from a store where I can return until I find one I like. More or less hoping for tips and tricks others use to help with smell and taste. I think I can make a mix with syrups or something sugar free but none of that matters if the smell isn't gone

Thanks! I thought it wasn't so bad. I called to ask options and they require I talk to a nurse so I'm going to ask her some questions too. Still in the research phase and am so happy to have found this site. It will be 2016 before I can do anything due to the 90 days restriction but I'd feel a lot better knowing I am approved and have a date. Scared to death to get this process started but I know I need to focus on myself for once and get this thing done to be healthy! Currently 5'5, 276lbs and about to be 33. Need to act now to move the needle in the right direction and hit reset on my body!
