I have a nasal pillow and do have problems not breathing through my mouth! But my mouth is never dry in the morning. Just sore throat, coughing and runny nose.
-
I'm not sure! the person who set up the machine at the doctors office told me not to touch the settings on the pressure or humidifier because it's what the doctor recommended....it's all auto for everything. It builds up to a max level over night.

Got My Surgery Date - May 9, '16
haleymarie replied to newstacey's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My surgery is May 9th too (: -
In the process of this my doctor had me tested for sleep apnea. I was diagnosed with very mild sleep apnea and recieved a cpap. The doctor requires me to use it every night until surgery...i can't sleep with it, I feel like I'm suffocating because I'm not allowed to breathe through my nose. I'm sitting here bawling my eyes out and am ready to give up tonight.
-
They showed me 5 different masks and I picked the nasal pillow because there was less stuff on your face, but now I'm realizing that was a mistake. I didn't know I breathed through my mouth mostly at night.
-
Will I be marked noncompliant if I stop using until I get a different mask? This is making my already bad anxiety like 50x worse. They told me there's a wireless transmitter that transmits every nights data to my surgeons office and staff of doctors

I meant to say I am not allowed to breathe through my mouth. I have a nasal pillow and a chin strap and I am fine for a couple minutes then my chest gets all tight cause I can't breathe through my mouth. I definitely need to call in the morning. I'm scared to turn off the machine for the night and say I need a different mask. I don't want the surgeons office to say I'm noncompliant. I'm so upset.

Have my first informational meeting on Friday! Question on timing.
haleymarie replied to SarahSleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had no required supervised diet, I started in January the entire process with doctors and testing. They submitted in March, and I was approved 4 or 5 days later. And my surgery date was 5 weeks later (scheduled for May 9th)! So I say for everything to fall into place it takes 4-6 months. -

My surgery is scheduled for may 9th, feel free to add me on fbook haley urbansky if you want to talk (: -
So my hospital submitted to my insurance on Thursday last week and I got the call Wednesday this week that I was approved!!!! To make it even better the hospital called me an hour later and told me my surgery is May 9th!!! I'm so excited, terrified, and ready for this. I'm anxious as hell though! I have to have a CPAP machine for the two weeks before and after surgery, and I'm still waiting for the call to even go for the fittting! I need the CPAP by April 25th of my surgery will be pushed back ): do you think I'll have it by then? Or does it usually take longer ?

insurance requirements
haleymarie replied to japeters's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What laundry list did Uhc have? That's my insurance, I started the process the last week of January and they submitted to insurance for approval earlier this week, I had no requirements besides what my hospital wanted. Uhc has been awesome and helpful... -
So where to begin, I'm 20 years old, and am 5'4". My weight when starting this process was 284 pounds. At my last weigh in with the nutritionist I was 262. When I met with my psychologist this week she informed me that the total weight I could lose with the sleeve was 70 pounds. That it is the average and thats all I can ever lose. I told her I felt that was untrue if i work hard to lose the 124 pounds I want to lose. (I've already lost 20 presurgery). She was very adamant that there's no possible way I'll lose everything I want. I'm extremely concerned now. I've never heard his before and from everyone I've seen and talked to who's had the surgery seems to have lost way more then that...its scaring me into wanting the bypass which I was very against...I felt super confident with my decision before this appointment and am now so torn. To trust my gut and the wonderful people I've come to see lose 100s of pounds with the sleeve or trust the medical doctor whose seen hundreds of patients....input & thoughts anyone... Oh and I met with my NUT right before this appointment and she told me I should be able to lose 107 pounds by 9 months out ! &the psychologists told me she was using my high weight and not the 262, so she was wrong...ugh ????

Total weight loss confusion...

Thanks everyone! You've made me feel much better. Everything you are saying is what I have heard as well. I'm really hoping and planning to lose it all. (: -
Total weight loss confusion...
haleymarie replied to haleymarie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks! I felt it was really strange cause they were dead set on it. I started arguing with her and they told me there were no ifs ands or buts to it pretty much. I had my mom with me and even she argued with them, and they basically said I couldn't get cleared by them if I didn't understand. Totally crazy. I know in my heart I'll do anything to lose the 124 pounds. But then telling me it was for sure impossible scared me! -
Total weight loss confusion...
haleymarie replied to haleymarie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's what I thought...I'm going through a hospital where you don't get s choice. Every doctor, surgeon, nut, and psych is assigned to you. Everyone else I've seen has been absolutely wonderful. there were two psychologist for me, the actual psych had a fellow who did the entire visit while the psych listened & agreed. I appreciate the feedback! What you said is on point with everything I've heard and read. Just confusing when the psychs I seen only see bariatric patients. Too much mixed info... -
So my nutritionist requires you lose 10% of your body weight (14 pounds) before surgery. I started a diet the day after seeing her which will be exactly 4 weeks this Saturday. In that time I've dropped 20 pounds...this happens everytime I diet. I drop weight quick then it stalls and i gain...will I be disqualified for losing too much weight???

Preop weight loss concern!
haleymarie replied to haleymarie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How much more do you need to lose? Depends on provider. I would call your NUT. 20 lbs in 4 weeks preop is awesome!! I have same problem but usually stall after 16 pounds loss. I am down 11 and have 9 more to go. 4 to go to get appt with psych. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App I lost 20, so I already lost 6 more then she required and with my insurance there was no doctor supervised diet or anything... -
Having second thoughts about my surgeon or having surgery
haleymarie replied to J.lynn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It seems to me you already know the answer, call and cancel them submitting! Say you changed your mind and just find a new doctor...I've never heard of less then 80% of the stomach being removed and it seems to me anything less would likely stretch back fairly quick. Plus you know someone who hasn't had a good outcome. I haven't met my surgeon yet but have met my bariatric doctor, NUT, and patient navigator and they've all done more then I ever expected. Long appointments, answered any questions or concerns I had. You need good chemistry with the person performing your surgery in my opinion. Your going to be seeing them for years to come & come to know them. Needs to be someone you trust your life on... -
I'm just wondering what the next step in the process is...Through Uhc I have no supervised diet requirements & have already met with my NUT and am expected to meet her again on the 14th (she wants us to lose 14 pounds by then, I've lost 12 already). I also met with the doctor who ordered a sleep apnea test & X-rays and all my blood work...then on the third I meet with my surgeon for the first time, I'm wondering what that appointment is for since I'll be done with all requirements by March 14th...I'm getting so anxious!

UHC Bariatric Resources
haleymarie replied to AKessler731's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's different for everyone...I have Uhc and they told me there was no bariatric nurses with them... -
I am currently in the process of getting all my appointments done to submit to insurance...I had went to my normal pcp for a sinus infection & we found that I had high blood pressure. Because of this she ordered an ecg and in the office they said it looked fine, now 2 weeks later I get a call the ecg was irregular & I need to set up a stress test...I'm freaking out! Is this going to mean no surgery? I'm really nervous!

So I just got approved to start the bariatric program through the Cleveland clinic. So far I've completed the seminar, and spoken with my patient navigator, and scheduled all my appointments needed. I'm really excited besides the fact I'm completely lost at how this works! The navigator told me I had to set up a bariatric resource nurse through my insurance and the insurance is saying they don't offer that and it's a cycle of back and forth at this point. I'm also confused at how payment will work and all the little details of how the program works! So far they've handled everything over the phone, is it okay to ask to meet her in person and go over all the insurance and payment information with her?

Ugh! So I started this whole process this month with medical mutual and come to find out they refuse to cover any bariatric surgeries. Well, in January I am switching to United healthcare. The reason for this is because my current insurance is through my dads insurance and the new insurance is through my mom. My mom talked to her hr & to the insurance and their sure they cover it with NO requirements besides a BMI of over 40. So that's good news. But what can I do now so I don't have to wait until January to start the rest of the process? I don't want to postpone this any longer! Thanks !
