Doc says no fruit--EVER
PayItForward replied to Whynotnow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From reading the original post - I think she is asking if anyone else has to without fruit and wanting it anyway? Just a guess. -
VSG and depression/anxiety meds
PayItForward replied to betterme38's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I worry and over-think about every situation. I've only read one post from a person that was not approved. She was told to six months of treatment, I think, and then try again. Anyway, it doesn't happen often and best of luck to you. PS - Just read your post about Prozac. That is what I take. I think I take 40 mg. I've been thinking about asking my doctor if I can cut back for the past year. I'll probably wait a little while longer to bring it up. I am afraid that I might have trouble dealing with everything once I lose weight. I've lost 100+ lbs several times in the past and the extra attention from men was very stressful for me. -

I was also told absolutely no carbonated drinks, ever. -
To tell or not to tell...
PayItForward replied to DaisyAmy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree completely and could not have said it better. I don't want to help perpetuate the myth that everyone can lose weight by just dieting and exercising. I needed the surgery and I am not ashamed. -
VSG and depression/anxiety meds
PayItForward replied to betterme38's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take medicine for depression. I had no problem passing the psych examine. I am a little over 4 weeks post-op and I haven't noticed a change in my mood. The medicine seems to be working the same as before the surgery. I went into the evaluation determined to not tell to much. I was afraid of failing. I ended up talking about just about everything I had been through the past 20 years. I never was good at keeping my mouth shut. But it worked out great. I passed. -
Probably a dumb question but....
PayItForward replied to Ilovecats1985's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 4 weeks post-op. It only took about two weeks until I could sip a "regular" amount. I found out by accident when I took a big gulp of Water. I expected extreme pain but it didn't hurt at all. I do have to leave some time between sips. -

A pound of vegetables per day? I'm only on my 5th week so maybe it will change. But I couldn't even begin to imagine eating that much per day. Especially in addition to the required Protein. I would have to eat every hour and still don't think I could consume that much. -
Help, what week am I on?
PayItForward replied to sonnysun's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I live in Fort Worth and my surgery was done there as well. Where are you from? Yesterday, I ate string cheese and turkey. I didn't have any problems. I made sure that I chewed the turkey alot. The last two weeks, I was able to add sweet potatoes, steamed vegetables, and eggs. I am loving the sweet potatoes and eggs. I can only eat a small slice of a sweet potato but it is delicious. I haven't tried the veggies yet because I am always to full to get to them. -

Maybe your doctor was talking about juicing? Juicing removes all the Fiber and you are left with only the sugar. -

Yes, you are correct. I was also sleeved on 9/28 and this is week 5 for me. I'm introducing regular food as well. Good luck! -
I have two teenage girls who are trying to take my new clothes!

I don't understand. How is she going to get problem skin from borrowing their clothes? I assume you are talking about acne and not something that can be transmitted by contact? -

When is weight loss rapid?
PayItForward replied to Thebin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to give the process more time. I was 323 the day of surgery and this is my weight-loss per week so far: Week 1 - 5 lbs Week 2 - 1 lb Week 3 - 8.2 lbs Week 4 - 9.8 lbs -
When people ask what you did to lose weight how do you respond?
PayItForward replied to cal2okl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I know that everyone is different. For me, I would have to give the surgery a lot more credit than 30%. I've lost weight and regained it all my life. Without the surgery, I was going to keep getting bigger and bigger. I know that I will have to put in effort to keep the weight off after I lose it. Just not sure how I could give surgery less than 100% credit since I know that I couldn't be successful without it. -

I think my goal was to have it done and get well into my journey before telling anyone. I'm sure people will know soon enough and that's okay but I'm very private and wanted to keep it to myself as long as possible without comments, judgement or people constantly watching me. Yes. I realized after the surgery that it might have been a good idea to wait before I told everyone. After I came back, everyone kept waiting for the fat to just disappear overnight. I had to let them know that it would take some time. I've lost 41 lbs and almost no one can tell the difference yet. I can tell a big difference in the way I feel and the way my clothes feel. Oh well, it will be interesting to see how much I have to lose before it becomes apparent to them. -

If you are successful, people will figure it out eventually. Simply changing up your diet and working out will not result in weightloss of 10+ pounds a month consistently. I have lost large amounts of weight before without surgery but I did it by following a 600 calorie per day medically supervised liquid diet for 6 months. They might not know exactly what you did, but they will know if was surgery or something else more drastic than changing up your eating patterns. Hopefully, you will be so happy about your weightloss soon that you won't care about the gossip anymore. Best of luck to you! -

Pre- Op Weight Loss Question
PayItForward replied to kondasa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor required a two week pre-op diet for me. I had 3 Protein shakes and one Soup a day. Stayed away from high-fat and creamy Soups. I lost over 20 lbs during that time. Maybe you could try something like that? -
I'm around 3 1/2 weeks out from surgery and I have been feeling good since around day 5. Are you getting in enough Protein? I found that my energy returned once I was able to add more calories to my diet. I had to get up to 500 a day before I had enough energy to last all day. Hope that you feel better soon.
-
I am in my 3rd week and had new foods added this week. Like you, I had never felt full. I tried a sweet potato and I was stuffed after four very small bites. I think you will start feeling the restriction as you move to more solid foods.

Taking Prescription Pills after surgery
PayItForward replied to Remove All Doubt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to take one pill every 5 minutes. Can't wait to get off some of these medications. It takes me about 30 minutes every morning just to take my pills. -
I started making puddings out of my shakes and it seemed easier to eat them rather than drink them all the time. I use almond milk, Protein powder, and a small amount of sugar-free instant pudding. I blend it with my nutra-bullet and then let it set up for awhile in the refrigerator. Hope that helps someone.

10wks out rant and whine and vent
PayItForward replied to nomorechubbybutt63's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I looked over your past posts to see if there was something useful that I could add to this thread. On 10/7, you said you were 11 weeks out. On 10/13, you were 12 weeks post op. Now you are are 10 weeks post-op? Is that a typo? -
Puree Stage Baby Food Blues
PayItForward replied to lrcarr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmm. First time I've heard of a doctor recommending baby food after a sleeve. I use a Nutra Bullet to puree my food and to make shakes.
