The first few days were hard for me. But it got much easier after the 3rd day. -

is almost time....
PayItForward replied to lamulatona's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you looked at the gastric sleeve? I wanted the band at first but my doctor convinced me to go with the sleeve. Just wanted to bring it up in case your doctor didn't go over the difference in the results between the two types of surgery. -
Gel nails
PayItForward replied to PrincessMonsterTruck's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had to remove my gel nails before surgery. -
Yes, forums are everyone becomes an expert and know more than doctors.
-
It's amazing how many "expert doctors" are on this site. We are so blessed that they choose to share their "knowledge" with us.

No. Not drinking, not carbonation, not carbs. A correctly done sleeve will not stretch. So, my surgeon and his office lied to me?

SLEEVE OR BYPASS? WHY?
PayItForward replied to LoveMyBypass's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Those death rates don't look right. Also, it must be an old pamphlet. It states that the lapband is a new procedure. PS. If you got that pamphlet from your surgeon's office, I would suggest that you find another one. -

PayItForward replied to cupcakebarb's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you sure that you can never take it again? I just had to stop taking my medication 10 days before surgery and was able to start taking it again 6 weeks after surgery. I take mobic. -
Keeping your surgery a secret - is it possible?
PayItForward replied to Lydia PR's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm sure that it is possible to keep it a secret. But I have told everyone that asks me and so far, they have all been very supportive. -
After surgery, it will be easier for you to resist. Just try to hang on for a little longer.

PayItForward replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had to lose close to 50 lbs before anyone noticed besides those that knew I had the surgery. But I am a lot larger than you. -
Going back to work
PayItForward replied to Tweety40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I returned to a desk job after 10 days. I didn't have any major problems. -
8 weeks post-op before swimming or hot tub.

An egd test will tell you if you have one. Your insurance will pay for that surgery which will make the WLS much cheaper because they do both at the same time.

It was only a thirty minute drive to the hospital. My sister took me and stayed for a few hours after surgery. I told her that I was fine so went home. Her husband picked up the following morning.

First plane trip since WLS: a NSV and an ouch!
PayItForward replied to butterfly23's topic in Rants & Raves
Congratulations on the weight loss. I only tell people that they look great it's because I hated the silence every time I have gained weight back. -
In the past, when I lost weight I was ashamed to tell people how much. It's different this time. I don't mind telling them at all. Maybe it is because I'm older now. Or maybe it's because I actually believe that this time, I won't gain it back.

Can I specifically request Gastric Sleeve?
PayItForward replied to shrinkingkimber's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I went in thinking that I wanted the lapband. But the surgeon explained each of the procedures and why he thought I should go with the sleeve. I'm so glad that he did. I didn't know much about the lapband then. I definitely would have regretted it. -
Needing help to make a decision ?
