VSG or C-section - Which was a harder recovery?
PayItForward replied to Kindra11's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
C Section much worse than VSG. VSG was a piece of cake. -
Beyond Meat’s Beastly Sliders suck. Not sure about the other brands.

I took off 8 days. But I work at a desk most of the day.

Haven't read the whole thread yet so I don't know if this has been mentioned yet. I stay away from straws because they increase the wrinkles around your lips. The same way smoking does.

Numb leading into surgery?
PayItForward replied to Womanvsmirror's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only thing that I was afraid of was that the surgery would be cancelled for some reason. I followed my preop diet but I was afraid my liver would still not shrink enough. I had told my sister this before surgery. The first thing I remember after surgery is her telling me that the surgeon said my liver looked great and that he did do the surgery. -
Having a puppy at home
PayItForward replied to charley27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love it when my dog jumps on me. Post surgery, I kept a pillow on my lap so that it wouldn't hurt. At night, I wore an abdominal binder and I sleep on my side. So, there wasn't a problem with him jumping on my stomach. -
No, its not reversible.

Be sure to check with your doctor. Some people take regular Vitamins. My doctor's office said that I absolutely must take vitamins that are made for bariatric patients. WLS patients need more vitamins than the average person.

I would just try to ignore her advice. She has not found a way to solve her own weight problems but wants to tell you what to do. She probably isn't doing it our of hatred, she is just uneducated about WLS. She sounds like she wont be responsive to your advice so just let her stay ignorant.

In all honesty, how bad is the first week or 2 with the Gastric Balloon?
PayItForward replied to anewmee's topic in Gastric Balloon Forum
I was fine to stay alone after the first day. But I did not have any kids to take of. The one I would recommend is an abdominal binder. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_14?url=search-alias%3Dhpc&field-keywords=stomach+binder&sprefix=stomach+binder%2Caps%2C204 -
I feel like my partner isn't even trying to eat better
PayItForward replied to Foxy_lady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your boyfriend didn't have surgery. You did. You can only control yourself. He has no reason to change just because you decided to change. Do what is best for you and let him do his thing. -
Seconds thoughts while undergoing nutrition phase
PayItForward replied to walkermy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is completely different with the sleeve. This has been the easiest way ever to lose weight. You will be able to eat a lot less without struggling. If you have had a problem in the past with keeping weight off, this is the way to go. -
Doc said weight loss plan was a waste of time. I need encouraged.

@@PissiChrissi Go to a Water aerobics class and see just how exhausting it can be. It's easy to get a great workout in the water. -
I was thinking the same thing. I was at the hospital for two days and they only brought me ice chips, gatorade, and water. Nobody said anything about eating or drinking Protein Shakes the first few days. After I got home, I did start drinking protein shakes.

Oh my gosh! Read "complications" thread and now terrified!
PayItForward replied to NewMeBefore40's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know that it is scary to read about the possible complications. I can't promise that you won't have them. But I can tell you that is very rare to have complications that can't be taken care of in a relatively short amount of time. For me, it was worth the gamble, Seven months out and I have not had a single problem. I felt bad the first few days and it's been great since then. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. -
Fat free, low far, light or regular?
PayItForward replied to FabFemale's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I go full flavor all the time. Now that I can only eat a few bites a day, I want them to taste delicious. If I eat a bite of something that I don't absolutely love, I stop eating it right away. Before, I would have eaten anything regardless of whether I love it or not. -
Milk: the Reason I Look Like a Heifer?
PayItForward replied to careya123's topic in Food and Nutrition
Just passing along some advice that someone gave me yesterday when I disagreed with a post. Only in this case it wasn't applicable. :-) Yes, it is. You just don't like to follow your own advice. -
To Sleeve or not to sleeve.....
PayItForward replied to finding_onederland's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can only tell you that the surgery has made it much easier for me to cut down on how much I eat. Once I lost weight, it was much easier to exercise. I know that people can gain weight after surgery, but truthfully, it would be harder for me to gain weight than to continue to lose weight. I would have to put a lot of effort and time into gaining weight. -

Does your body get used to the fluid intake?
PayItForward replied to Beck90's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What is this!? The Water in our food counts too? How do we count fluid when it comes from water.. I mean a Protein shake is pretty easy or coffee.. or low cal juice etc.. it's just the fluid ounces but how do you count the fluid from food!? Also even though it's hard isn't it like absolutely vitally important to be able to drink the 64? Try to drink 64 oz of water on top of whatever you eat.
