    November Sleevers

Hi doggirl79, I was sleeved on the10th and I am still having pain especially from my main incision. I had a shower yesterday and it was painful when the water hit the incisions. I was better once out. I have trouble with sudden movements and sleeping at night as well, but overall I am starting to feel better, with a he exceptions of the main incisition still hurting. In terms of hunger, I can't say that I am really hungry, rather I have head hunger through out the day especially when prepping my children's food, but it is no where near as bad as it was before surgery. I manage to get down water, protein shakes (I started that yesterday), jello and of course water. Happy anniversary! Keep at it - you've got this and I think what you are feeling in terms of pain is natural.

    Surgery Nov 9th

I was sleeved on 11/10 and am on clear fluids for an entire week. Anyone else? I thought for sure I would get to start protein shakes after a couple of days of clear fluids....

    Surgery Nov 9th

@Kirstenkek. I agree with @kinkymoo. You should be seen by a doctor. I was sleeved on the 10th and haven't experienced anything you are describing. My pain is worse since I have been home that is only because I am moving around more and doing more but it is bearable pain. No night sweats either. Get checked out just to be safe. Hope all turns out well

    November Sleevers

Day 3 after surgery and was able to walk outside. Had a rough night as I had a lot of nausea I but otherwise everything going smoothly. I am just tired and still have cramp/gas pain. I have to remember to stay on top of it. For all of you not yet sleeved I highly recommend you crush your pills and mix in water. I had a really hard time with one of my pills because I didn't crush it. Big mistake. Fine now but was very painful. Very excited and happy at how smoothly things are going???? Good luck to all of you!!!
  5. I am in Canada, and we don't have access to all the same Protein products as in the USA, so I was wondering if anYonge knew of the best protein powders to get that meet the low sugar and high protein requirements required after surgery? Thanks! Also, meant to ask a sell about the best Protein drinks or supplements. Thanks!

    November Sleevers

Today has been challenging but I know each day will get easier. Just trying to drink and walk. So hard.
  8. Hi there, I just got a surgery date of November 10th. I am very excited but nervous as well. Was wondering if anyone else was having surgery on or around that date? Maybe we could support each other through the pre op diet and the rest of this journey? Cheers!
  9. I am having a similar issue today. Lots of nausea. Hang I there!
  10. Day 1 after surgery and have some pain and nausea as well. I can't believe it's done!!!! How are you today?

  15. @all4him. I completely know what you are going through. I am going through it now as well. I was just thinking that maybe I didn't need this surgery that maybe I could do this on my own and hen next thing you know I am eating everything in sight. Good news I stopped quickly after starting but I really realize that I can't do this on my own. I need help. Hang in there!

    November Sleevers

Hey there! Any Calgary Alberta sleevers! I am getting sleeved on November 10th and would love support!
  17. Wow! Thanks everyone for all your replies! This is great to get me started! Do you guys typically add powder to your food and drinks and/or do you drink protein drinks as well? Or does it matter so long as you get the recommended amount of protein? I also wondered what is better tolerated after surgery? Currently I am using isagenix protein shakes which have too much sugar I now realize

    November Sleevers

I gained weight recently as well because I was so stressed about everything and was worried about not being able to eat certain foods again. It was really interesting though, because when I stopped and actually asked myself if I wanted to eat these foods or if it was just fear driving this "hunger", I was able to stop my eating and make smarter choices. This is such a first for me. I really realize that I am ready for this change to happen in my life and I am sure you are as well I started my pre-op diet today, even though my surgeon said it was unnecessary. I wanted to feel united with everyone else going through this process as well as prove to myself that I can do this!

    Surgery Nov 9th

My surgery is November 10th and so many mixed emotions. I am excited but anxious regarding each step along the way (pre-op diet, flight to where my surgery is taking place, surgery, post-op diet, flight back, recovery, going back to work, cooking for my family etc). I am just reminding myself to take it one step at a time and to focus on the current step in front of me rather than jumping ahead and worrying about a later step. So far this seems to be working.

    Day 1 of liquid diet

I am so excited and motivated by your post @Dub. I am 2 weeks pre-op and I sometimes question my decision to do this and just reading your post reminds me of why I am doing this, that I need to do this and that I will be successful. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and for inspiring others to stick to the hard decision of surgery (all of us know that this is not an easy decision to make) and to the even tougher decision of changing our eating habits and choosing life rather than sitting on the sidelines. It's going to mean work for me, but I am motivated and excited for this change. I want to live again! So happy that all is working out so well for you! Keep it up! You inspire us You are doing great !!!!! I can't stress enough the point that you are in the hardest part now.......and doing great. Today is Day 14. 23 pounds down since surgery and 79 pounds since I began the process in June. I'm doing great. I really feel good. There is really no more pain from the hernia repair and there never was any pain from the sleeve (not a bit). The wounds are healing great. I'm ready (mentally) to move on to regular food, but there is no hunger from my 3-shakes a day current diet. I've got another couple more weeks to go with the liquid diet. Then the pureed stage.....and onto the soft foods and beyond. I'm very, very comfortable with the foods I'll be eating from now on. I love grilling fish, chicken, steak and making chili and stews. Live is gonna be great and flavorful.....and I'm gonna get back into the same size I was in during my junior year of high school. Wearing the same sized Levi jeans. Life is good. I'm just doing some basic walking and stair use. Energy level is getting better....but it doesn't take much right now to wear me out. I'm used to dealing with long term knee pain and a back injury that was incurred in April. Today, as I type this....it is almost overwhelming how much better my body feels. I've not had any type of pain med in a few days, yet I'm not in pain. It is truly amazing. I am cleared to have coffee and it is has been wonderful. The Protein shakes all still taste great post-op....just as they did pre-op. Pre-op I was using a really thick mix as that seemed to sustain me longer.....I thinned them down post-op. I highly recommend the Pure Protein brand of pre-mixed Protein Shakes. The chocolate flavor was great and they are made really thick and hearty. They can be found at Walmart and Walmart's Neighborhood Market stores.

    Tomorrow's THE day!

    Good luck tomorrow!!!
  22. Congratulations@@KimT123!!! How are you feeling about it all?
  23. I was also wondering if any of you wouldn't mind sharing your clear liquids guidelines? I am having my surgery done privately and an am not part of a program. I feel a little loss regarding what to expect post op. I bought the Big Book on Gastric Sleeve, which was great, but wondering if anyone wouldn't mind sharing some of their post op diet materials? Are any of you purchasing bariatric pal products to support your post op diet? Thanks for all your support
  24. Really excited for all of us! @@all4him, I am not low BMI...I can understand not telling anyone about your surgery other than those that will support you. I am high BMI and I still don't want to share that I am having surgery with most family and friends. They will just judge and be unsupportive. I have my endoscopy on Nov. 2. I am worried they will find an ulcer or infection that will stop the surgery. I am currently on Ppi for GERD. Have any of you had your scope yet? Do any of you have GERD as well? I have heard on this site that a lot of people have food funerals...any of you guys done or are doing this?
  25. . Only my husband and my sister know that I am doing this. My children don't know yet that I am having surgery. I decided not to tell my other siblings and my parents as I know they would be unsupportive about this and cast judgment and I don't need that right now. I need only positive energy! how have your family and friends been about it? Have they been supportive if you told them? Do you guys have to travel for your surgery or is it in your home area?
