6 days out feel weak and drained

I'm 3.5 weeks and I'd say I have felt more fatigued, drained, exhausted and pooped in the last week and a half than the first 2 weeks. I have been told that it is totally normal and will go away soon (Anywhere between in the next week up to 8 weeks)
  2. Holy fadoodle!! Yeah, I'd say you've jumped over some extra hurdles!!! Too bad you and doc didn't discuss getting a sleeve if that's what he felt was best when he was in the OR... but now that you're all healed up and no permanent liver damage - this is great news! Maybe look at it as: In the grand scheme of things... a few month delay is nothing (?) Now you know that you have to have your liver enzymes watched too. But with weight loss and getting healthy that should also keep your liver issues under control as well. When my doc came and talked to me post op he told me a had a bit of a fatty liver... I was mortified but he said that with weight loss it will fix that. Whew Anyways, good luck and three times a charm!!!!

    Where is everyone from?

    YAY! someone else from Canada!!
  4. I can't wait to not feel so ashamed of myself. I can't wait for the low self esteem to ease up. I can't wait to be proud of myself for a job well done. I can't wait for people to look at me differently. I can't wait to be an inspiration to others. I can't wait for my very active friends to ask and include me for hikes and mountain biking etc again. I haven't been asked for a long time. I can't wait to wake up happy and looking forward to the day. I can't wait for good sleeps where I don't worry about everything. I can't wait to test my strength and push myself - exercise wise. Of course I can't wait for small clothes and everything else everyone else has said too. But most of all.... I can't wait to be me again.

    Certain days of week

That's an interesting observation, for sure! I'm too new to tell something like that for me but I know pre surgery I was way more lax on weekends (when I was actually watching what I ate and drank)
  6. The food that Dub was posting looked so effing amazing!!! Wowsers, come to BC Canada and be my chef? Puhleeeeeeeaaase! I had my first real solid food yesterday actually.... TURKEY!!! It was our Thanksgiving day yesterday. (Turkey, sweet potato, cooked carrot, stuffing, dot of gravy, dot of cranberry jelly.) Everyone was laughing at my teeny tiny mini meal but damn it was good! It was so awesome!

Am I the only Canadian gal here? British Columbia, Canada
  8. "I bet your husband is so happy." He is, but he's happy that his wife is happier and healthier. ⬆⬆⬆⬆⬆ nailed it! My husband loves me. I can say this because he has been with me thick and thin. (Pun intended) We have been through a lot together. Thru sickness and health.. right? We have a healthy intimate life now with me being the size I am. When I was thin I don't remember having to pry him off me all the time and I don't think that's how it'll be when I'm small again. We aren't rabbits, that's for sure! Hahaha My best friend said that very same thing to me the other day 'I bet Shane is excited...!' Um no, he has actually said to me: "I cant wait for you to be happy and healthy and we can do stuff we used to love doing together again." (Ex: hiking mountains) Also my best friend actually had the nerve to say to me 3 days before surgery: "I don't want you to have surgery. I'm scared for you. How about just trying to eat less and exercise?" She's been my BFF for over 30 years.. she knows I've struggled with my weight my entire life. She knows I've tried every f**king diet/trick/pill etc in the book. She's seen me go up and down up and down -- I just want to get the eff down and stay there!!! Lol Anyways GREAT THREAD love reading all of these - I have pretty much heard them all at one point in my life whether it being in regard to surgery or some kind of useless diet I was on. (P.S. I am a previous lap bander as well so this is the second time around for all of the shitty ass comments that people say before thinking) Good luck to all! I love this site

    Stomach pain

HAHAHAHA I was totally `that` patient. I am pretty darn sure my post op nurse was getting annoyed. The funny thing is, is that I too am a nurse but obviously haven`t had surgery experiences to know what all these new things with my body are. I had this pain and it`s normal. The majority of the bypass surgery happens on the left side. I was told to take some Tylenol and still make sure I get up and moving. I found that sitting too long brought on the stitch-like-cramp so I guess some advice would be not to sit too long. take care and good luck!

Help pls horrible pain 1wk out

I totally had this pain. It scared the crap out of me. I thought I pulled or ripped sutures or something. The nurse told me it was totally normal. It was always a sharp stitch-like-cramp that would shoot towards my belly button and my back (on left side only) but as soon as she said that it was because the majority of the surgery happened on my left side it totally made sense. She said nerves, muscles, tissue etc etc got cut too that and that it will take longer to heal on that side. She also pointed out that the reason I wasn`t feeling it week 1 was because I had some good pain killers haha it just dawned on me while reading this post that I haven`t had that pain for like 4 days now! whoop whoop!!! now, if only my number 2`s would smarten up (or harden up...!) and I would start feeling more energy and less lightheaded and dizzy... I can get going on this journey! good luck to you and let`s do this! Heather
  11. My current wish: to get over this mild abdominal pain, get over my fear of disliking all protein drinks, getting in my fluids and get on with this weight loss journey!

To Tell or Not To Tell?

Such fantastic responses! Wow! I personally have told some of my friends and family. Not even all of my family. I too had the lap band before and it worked very well for the first year then my body rejected it for 3 years after that. Had to have it taken out and I was able to actually lose more weight and stay on track for a few years.... then I went back to school and started leading a very sedentary life and went back to my old eating habits. Which now lead me to gastric bypass and me writing on this post right now! I wish back then I would've just done the bypass to begin with. Oh well! Oh and I sorta snorted as I laughed out loud to your comment about "eating our two spoonfuls" My husband looked at me funny. LOL

    Nausea 2.5 weeks out?

Thank you! I literally just poured a protein drink that I made with milk down the drain because a few sips in and my tummy hurt! I now am trying to get down a protein powdered drink mixed with just the powder and Water and it doesn't seem to be nearly as bad. I just can't stand the taste of protein powder. I am going to go search the stores later today to see if I can find that no flavour protein powder. I think it's called Isopure. I really do hope this gets better because I can't imagine feeling like this forever. So far I still believe this was totally worth it and I am so ready to kick ass with weight loss and success but at this moment it feels still so far away!
  14. I totally agree! I feel like I hit gold with this site! I'm giddy and excited about reading and learning from all these posts! It's probably going to be my new obsession as I wasn't getting all of my question answered by watching youtube videos

    12 days post op and...

some great questions on this post! I am interested to see what people say about the sipping per hour or whatever. that is one of my questions too! I definitely don't feel hunger but lots of times when I do eat or drink my stomach kind of has an uncomfortable digesting process. It gurgles everywhere. It might be thought of as hunger pains ...? It's not for me but maybe this is what you're feeling? I don't measure (for ex: 4 oz) - I just put what looks like 2-3 tablespoons of food in a tiny dish and just really listen to my body and pay attention. most times I don't eat everything in that tiny bowl. Lots of times I just get turned off by what I'm eating because it takes so long to eat, or I may have gotten full. Now I say that because if that feeling is feeling full, it is way different then the old feeling full. Now it feels kind of like a whole body blah feeling. Don't know if this is my new "feeling full" or what but it's weird! anyways hope all goes well with you and let's DO THIS

    Nausea 2.5 weeks out?

OMG YES!!!! I am 2.5 weeks post RNY and I started experiencing nausea a few days ago and also lots of (um sorry!) diarrhea too! I tried to go back to work on Monday and it didn't work out, and I tried again yesterday and same thing. I can't even think or look at a Premium Protein drink at the moment. The thought of them seriously gross me out now. I have to find some other Protein powder or drink to get my protein in. I even went to the doctor today because I wanted to get some blood work done etc because that is how bad I am feeling this week! I am pretty sure I'm dehydrated too - I a still getting in my foods (barely) and my liquids but having such terrible bouts of diarrhea, I'd have to be dehydrated. Everyone thinks that because I am experiencing these symptoms now as opposed last week when I was recovering at home, is that I went back to work too early and my body/stomach is just not ready for routine and starting with liquids and Multivitamins and food and so on and so on so early in the day. My body is still recovering and can't handle the fast paced routine quite yet. I tried to sip my glass of Water, my premium Protein Drink and had a few sips of coffee - like I did all last week but on Monday I realized I had all of that within an hour when normally it took me up to two last week. I don't know if this is all the real reasons as to why I feel absolutely terrible this week but it's all I got to go with. Does this make sense to you? haha sorry, I tend to ramble. Today I pretty much went back to drinking clear fluids only. water and G2 have been the basis of my intake today. I had a couple tablespoons of canned salmon too but that is it for today so far. I think we just have to remember to take it very slow.. I wish you luck and hopefully it clears up for you (me too!!!) let me know how it's going take care Heather
