Soooooooooo ADDICTED!!!!! it's worse than my Netflix addiction! In fact, I have been watching Netflix for 3 episodes of Longmire, and have no idea what I just watched because I've been catching up on BP! Love you all! ????

I should've read this before I posted my comment. Thank you for explaining more.

I completely agree. Sorry, no offence but she's right. All of your posts are asking about what you can eat and when. You're so early in and every post from practically post op day 1 has been questions about what foods you can eat at this stage or it almost sounds like what foods you want to try to get away with eating. Did you go home with a food plan or a schedule for stages? Maybe not focus so much on food. I know that's hard to do since we've all done it for so long! Can you try and find a hobby or something to take your mind off the food part of this journey? I wish you success and I am rooting for you. I hope your cravings damper down and you beat your head hunger. Again, I apologize for sounding a bit harsh but it has been an observation for quite some time and just want you to succeed at this!

Oh and I am pretty sure (sleevers step in here please) that a person that had the gastric sleeve can also experience dumping syndrome. But maybe not as likely or often...? -

Losing weight while on the b**ch drug Prednisone
heather5565 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all, So, I was just discharged from Hospital yesterday. I had yet another bout of my D.R.E.S.S syndrome. (I had two episodes back-to-back) When I have these flare-ups, I have to go on high doses of IV corticosteroids called Methylprednisolone. Well, the last flare up I had (in the middle of Oct) they gave me the IV and then my treatment was done. Well, I flared up again within 5 days. So this time they did the IV steroids and now they are doing a long tapering down dose of oral Prednisone to see if this extra treatment will nip these flare ups in the bud. (like over 3 months) I am now also on a different corticosteroid/immunosuppressant called Cyclosporine and apparently going to be on it for a year. *whimper *whimper With being on steroids there are A LOT of side effects. Guess which one I'm most petrified of..? WEIGHT GAIN! -it might not be literally weight (or fat) gain but it could be Water weight. -my appetite may increase -my weight can redistribute -I may feel extreme exhaustion all of the time -I may feel jittery and shaky -I may be forever irritable -I may be severely out of breath even with a mild walk -I may have insomnia ** the reason I say I may have these particular symptoms is because I did have them the last time the doctor had me on this tapering dose of the steroids. The difference back then was that I didn't have the WLS, and I DID gain actual weight because I ate a sh*t ton more than usual, wasn't watching it closely and didn't even think about exercising at all. I'm devastated to be back on these steroids and I feel like I am going to be putting my weight loss on hold for at least the 3 months. I weighed myself this morning and I am still up 4 pounds from last week. Even in hospital I ate the best I could, ate my Protein, drank my water, and walked around as best I could. Came home yesterday and the first thing I did was went out for a trail walk. Am I going to be stuck for at least 3 months? WAHHHH To make a LONG story short; I am looking for other people to tell me that they beat the odds and lost weight while on this nasty medication. Please tell me that I am not going to work my ass off, struggle as all heck, but not get anywhere! Has anyone been on Prednisone and lost weight anyways? I know it'll increase my appetite but I will ignore hunger and still eat what I'm supposed to eat. I know I will most likely experience water weight too, but I will do my absolute very best to beat the side effects of Prednisone. I guess I need a little bit of hope that I might actually win this battle.... Heather -

When push comes to shove and you are on your pre-op diet, you'll kill it! You wanna know why? Because the official countdown to your surgery is on! And you will push thru it and conquer! Everyday you will be saying to yourself "I'm almost there! Only ___ more days of this and then my surgery!" The countdown will keep you on track. You can do this! They aren't going to punish you or cancel your surgery if you don't lose the 20 pounds. It really is about shrinking the liver so the chances of a successful surgery is just that much more greater. GOOD LUCK and keep us posted on how your Sx went, okay! -
Only 75-80 pounds to lose
heather5565 replied to JohaAidenMommy's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi! You said that the sleeve "is a safer option" and that you "see more complications with RNY" .... where have you seen this? I haven't seen these statistics. I don't think the decision of which WLS you should go with is based on the amount of weight you should/could lose. I've seen people with a lot less weight than 70-80 lbs to lose and had WLS. I personally was looking at the Sleeve at first but then my surgeon suggested I think about going with the RNY because I had horrible GERD and the bypass pretty much cures that the second a patient is out of surgery. I chose the RNY for that reason. There are risks with any surgery but I don't know that there are more complications with the RNY. Not that I've ever seen anyways. And for bony skinny....? Bahahaha ha I can't ever imagine I'll ever get to that point! I wish you well with whatever surgery you choose and good luck to you on your weight loss journey!! -
That was a great post! I too, love this little community we gotz here! I don't know what I'd do without all of you on Bariatricpal!

I wanna try these!!! I went on the site and of course when I clicked on the "find a store near you" came back with "no results." I requested samples but most likely they won't ship to Canada. I am going to go on the search this week to nutrition stores etc and maybe, just maybe I'll find some somewhere! -
You should send her a picture of some pants that you just bought and say, "I bet you wish you could wear these". I think that would be pretty funny. Bahaha haha that was perfect! That's what I'd do! It almost seems like it's a kind of bullying to me. If she sent a pic to me of food and said that - then I'd send the pic back and say something like "wouldn't you like to eat this? Oh wait, you are."

Do you really need a hospital buddy?
heather5565 replied to fallingwhisper's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You are correct as you will either be sleeping or peeing or doing mini walks in halls. The nurses will be there and you're in for a very short stay. Your friend won't be much support as in helping you walk (if needed) or able to help you with pain. Nurses are there for that. She will be bored. You will most likely be going in and out of sleep and there may even be visiting restrictions at your hospital so she might not be able to stay for very long anyways. You're time there will go very fast and if you know you won't need her moral support, I think it's safe to say that you'll be completely fine without her. Good luck and take care!
