I Am Thankful For My Stall
heather5565 replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Great thread! I actually haven't experienced a stall yet.... But I MIGHT appreciate it - if and when it happens! And if I don't, then I'll come back to this thread -
Totally normal. I hit me like a brick wall at 2 weeks post op and lasted for about 2 more weeks. I felt amazing the first 2 weeks than BOOM! It'll get better, I swear it! Right now I'm killing it on my recumbent bike! I have so much energy now! So weird!! (I'm post op week 9) You'll get there! You're body just went thru major trauma - it's saying "Wtf did you do to me?" It'll be mad at you for a while and then it'll be thanking you every day for the rest of your life! Just rest a little while longer and then go kill it and be great at it!!!

Has your Marriage Changed Since Surgery?
heather5565 replied to Half of Bri's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just had to go ahead and reread this... And it made me work out even harder on the elliptical! Thanks my friend!! Aaaaannnndddd sweat just dropped on my screen! I will get there again Dub you can count on it! And if you're heading near Mexico in April, you'll find me on one of the beaches! Oh and puhhhhleeeaase wear a speedo! Pretty please! And then dance. Please dance. Hell, I'll even join you! We'll dance like nobody is watching! Except they are watching... very intentively! And loving every minute of the show!!! Way to go, Dub!I'm having a very emotional day and reading that made me tear up! Jerk. Haha love ya! ???? Those aren't emotions......just the endorphin rush you've been feeling from the killer exercising you've been doing. I gotta get my arse in gear and follow your lead......get into BEAST-mode really dang soon or I'll wind up looking like the skinny-fat dudes who wear Speedo bathing suits at the beach.....but should NOT. I do not want to be that guy. You, on the other hand, are getting into bikini shape and will arrive there well before beach season arrives. I'm grooving on your enthusiasm and loving your zeal for it. You are the patient my surgeon yearns for. He's been on me to kick it into gear. He'd take you and have commercials made to showcase how it can happen for folks. Wonder Woman forthcoming. He'd have you on all the billboards all over town. Much respect. I'm buying you a virtual ice cold beer and tipping it your way. Please send me details of when and where you'll be debuting that beach body. I'll be on that beach, too. The skinny-fat guy with the sombrero on....dark sunglasses and bucket of ice cold Messican cervezas beside my worn out beach chair. I'll be there to sit back and take in the sights. Will NOT be wearing a Speedo, however. Full blown Perve-mode. -

Ah yes, this makes total sense! Hence the SHOT of espresso..! Thanks!
-
My surgeon said decaf for the first few months. But he also said that if I do have caffeine again to limit it to 1 cup a day. To be honest - after surgery, some of my taste buds have changed! I couldn't even handle the smell of coffee for up to 5 or so weeks afterwards! I have had a few cups of coffee since but I never actually finish the cup. I don't even enjoy it anymore. I have switched to an espresso shot but only because I think I still crave something warm first thing in the morning. But I can't handle how that makes me feel! I'm so frickin' jittery and my heart races. I always thought that there was more caffeine in actual coffee than espresso.... (Someone jump in here to clarify, if you know!) I was actually thinking of not having anything and see how I do. Working at 0700, 5 days a week - I might need SOMETHING tho! I guess I could try decaf.... hmmmm there's an idea.. you never know, maybe you'll come out of surgery cured from your caffeine addiction!

Who tried to talk you out of Mexico?
heather5565 replied to Fat2Phat2016's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I'll admit it... I was looking into Mexico at first. I almost went thru with it too. Then my hubby and I had a real talk and he said that he was really feeling sick about me taking that chance of getting such a major surgery out of country. What if something goes very wrong, like complications afterwards? We weren't sure if BC Canada would cover it. And not sure if we would be covered if I had to go back to Mexico. It cost more in the end (but really not by much) to have it done in Quebec Canada, but it's my health and my life so it was worth it. In the grand scheme of things a few thousand extra was mere pennies compared to my life. I wasn't willing to risk it. And don't regret a single thing. But I'm not dissing surgeries in Mexico or anything - please don't think that I am. I did have the lap - band done in 2005 in Monterey Mexico and it went all perfectly. Only that my body started rejecting the band a year later so had to have it removed. So I am not saying "don't go to Mexico!!" I just chose not to this time with the RNY. No matter where you go it'll be nerve wracking but it's so worth it! Good luck to you when, what and wherever you decide upon. -
Protein intake vs. being full?
heather5565 replied to ForLfKlovr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with above posters. Listen to your body. If you have to, add in a protein filled snack to get to your protein goal. Don't piss off your tummy. It won't like it and may fight back (no weight loss or something) No point in making yourself uncomfortable and maybe in pain. Or worse, throwing up all of what you just ate and having to start from scratch. -

6 months out... What's your progress?
heather5565 replied to teshadb's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Omg seriously, sometimes people really need to think about what they're saying before they say it. 100 pounds is a heck of a lot more than just a few pounds!!! I'll compliment you. (Even tho I don't see a pic) YOU LOOK AMAZING!!! And healthy!!! ???? -

What surgery did you have? What complications, may I ask? P.S. your arms are Amazing! -
I thought Quest bars are the best out there for Protein bars! most of them taste pretty good, they have high protein and high fiber, what's not to like about that? And low sugar. So I'm confused now, they aren't good bars then?? I bought a few of the Quest chips and I'd do the bars any day of the week over the chips!

Big NSV that has created a dilemma for me.......
heather5565 replied to Joz31's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You've never lied. You just haven't divulged a bigger part of the weight loss equation. It was nobody's business. If someone asked you point blank "did you have weight loss surgery?" And you said no - well then that's a lie. I'd say GO FOR IT! You've earned this! Be proud of that incredible weight loss and also see it as what a big compliment it really is.... your doctor is so happy with you that he wants to show you off! In my opinion - that's big! He picked you to represent what a successful weight loss patient looks like only 6-7 months later. You've worked so hard and your doc recognizes this! I'd do it in a heart beat! HAHA I wouldn't blur your face... you said so yourself that you're proud of yourself and if you blur out your face then it kinda doesn't really give you that full recognition of your perseverance and dedication. IMO Good luck to whatever choice you make. Keep up your inspiring work! -
What other site Mark? I'm on obesityhelp but never go on there because I find its hard to navigate and it's not used all that often (from what I can tell.) Also another one I have come across is called thinnertimes but again never use it.
