Good early morning,my name is Paul. This will be my second attempt at surgical weight loss program. My first was in 2010 when I was talked into a new type of procedure being used called lap band. I had wanted the gastric sleeve at the time and was convinced by the Dr. to go with the lap band instead. Well I now consider this to have been a horrible decision. I lost 22lbs. during the prep diet and then only 18 after surgery. A long distance from goal weight of 100 pounds. Shortly after surgery, about 3 months, my Dr left her practice and moved to Florida. I was left with no support or assistance. In addition, the clinic and hospital did not replace her position. So, I struggled with acid reflux, food constantly was getting stuck and I had to get water to push pushing through or cause me me to vomit. I struggled with this and finally was taken to the hospital with heart attack symptoms. They diagnosed was the lap band had slipped up causing the problem with severe pain. I was referred to a surgeon in a different medical complex and was told the lap band had to be removed. He would be able to do that, but could not convert the band to anything else. He gave me a referral to UW Wisconsin  hospital where where where met with and was blown away by the customer service, the level of care, and the the time frame they were able to establish to remove and convert the lap band to roux en y. So, this coming Monday, Oct. 12th, 2015 I begin my liquid Pre Op diet for surgery surgery on the 26th. With all that and the great program they have, I signed up for bariatric pal so that I could could connect with others who have succeeded and failed so that that I can make sure I become a success!
