Hi Doggirl79,, i will be 7days post-op tomorrow, and yes my main incision still hurts if I bend the wrong way or lay the wrong way, or laugh to hard, or cough to hard... as long as I take my pain pills it dulls it, but when I forget..whooooo does it hurt.. I have not taken a shower yet, just using the the ol'washup routine.. I can touch my incisions without pain but underneath the main one hurts.. now on hunger, do you have hunger pains (cramps) or are you thinking your hungry with no physical alert.. I noticed that in the morning when I first get up, my stomach goes bonkers (cramping, growling) I have a small fridge in the bedroom with protein shake pre-made and I sip that.. after about 4-8 sips my tummy is happy and I can begin my day. I also like sipping warm team if i forget to pre-make my shake for the morning. I do have eye hunger, where I see something and want to nibble, but i hold back, I am seeing double digits losses of weight right now each day, I don't want to change that.. I have only had broth one time since post-op it did not sit well, but thank god for those nausea pills. thus so far I have only used nectar protein powder and crystal light. Keep your head up and happy anniversary ~MojoCAMI

Hi, just an update surgery was on 11-11-15.. i am back driving, and went to the grocery store yesterday and walked around 20-25min.. my tummy growled at me so I picked up a muscle milk and sipped it while walking shopping for other groceries. so here are the issues / symptoms I am still having thus far and some tips First drink of the morning: light cramping / spasm Using warm tea to start my day makes it better Sleeping in my own bed (difficult at times) Mix of supper firm pillows for a base and soft pillow for head helping.. (No sudden turns or else pain) Gas bubble in stomach. Although I was told gasx is an okay product by the nurse, I still like the baby milicon i think it works faster to me. Pick some up for those getting sleeved in few days. Pain from one laparoscopic site.. I think its the muscle tear my body uses most to sit up, turn, laugh.. (laughing hurts but its funny) just know how to move your body to relieve that muscle of the burden, it will take a a few time to know when.. obtain a belly band, my surgeon provides one to all her patients prior to leaving the hospital. it helped on the ride home. You may have read on this forum to bring a pillow for the ride home, the belly band is a good substitute or primary if you don't have a pillow.. I use it for sleeping mostly as I like to turn in my sleep, it keeps me from waking up in pain as much..does not cure it but cuts it down 2 more days off work, then back to work i go ~MojoCAMI

Hi mynewlife one thing I tried this morning which helped a ton (and was mentioned by another person on this forum I can't remember the name but credit goes to them) was to sip warm tea first before taking any meds, then with my water I am adding crystal lite pouches to them which helps.. hopefully one of these tips helps you out. ~MojoCAMI

Okay just another update observation, Day 3 at home.. one of my pills says to take with applesauce but i am on a clear liquid diet.. so I call my surgeon's office and the RN there says its okay with a spoon full of applesauce.. WEll she should have said have your nausea pill ready, because like greased lightning I started getting nauseated as soon as that applesauce hit my tummy. I was able to take my pill in time and did not have to toss anything back up, but now i know., for next few weeks keep the nausea pill handy. cramping / spasms still an issue especially when switching between protein drink and crystal lite or water. I pass GAS Today (TMI) no BM yet but i did let out a few air clouds ~MojoCAMI

Hi Kcmckee123 My pre-op diet was high protein, no fruit, no carb, no sugar and no starch diet. In short what I did was I had a a protein shake for breakfast one protein shake for lunch protein shake if I as hungry between 2-3pm (nectar Roadside lemonade helped)' Dinner: all the veggies I wanted usually grilled, for meat protein i selected small oz cuts of steak, fish or chicken in total no more than about 4-6oz of meat protein at dinner time. 2days before surgery is full liquid diet which was not so bad,, I made tones of different flavored sugar free jello's to make it though.

Thanks fort the tip mokt, I have had to cut all my pill in either half or quarters and yes the cramping and gas pain could end at any time.. for now every 3-4hrs I pop the gas and cramping meds and it keeps it at bay, its the only way I could get any sleep. Best of luck on day 4. Congratulations. I hope my surgery next week goes as smoothly. thank you!!

Good Morning everyone, Just wanted to report that operation Sleeve is complete yay!!!! Sleeved on Wednesday, checked out of hospital evening,,ride home was horrible nausea kicked in..but i made it without puking. complications are usual, gas and cramping but the meds are holding those issues at bay, providing I take them on time. While recovering the isopure protein upset my new stomach causing lots of pain, luckily they had nectar available which agreed more with my new tummy. Walking the first time hurt pretty bad, this will be day three I can get up with minimal pain, walking around the house is easy...just dealing with stomach gas, hiccups and cramping.. the gas medication takes care of the hiccups and stomach gas..and the cramping meds work but they take about 20min to kick in.. Overall not bad, I can sip water and my nectar protein I have a home without issue. and i sleep pretty good reclined providing i have taken my cramping and gas meds I will provide more updates as they come

Worried I can't do the pre-op diet!
MojoCAMI replied to Castillo15's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you! I can feel the love for sure. I am looking forward to after the surgery. I have heard a lot of people say their taste for things have changed. I have been a picky eater all my life ( this is where my pre-op fear comes from) and really want a change. I know it's a choice on my part but I have lived in food hell for so long it's hard to change. I have recently made some changes and it ended up alright. Everyday is getting better. You are most welcome.. I can say when it comes to taste, during this pre-op low carb high protein dient, which is now full liquid as I am 2 days from surgery, has changed my taste buds a touch.. I was never a great water drinker but I have done better, I love chocolate but no longer have cravings for it.. and decaff coffee while not the greatest is not the devil I made it out to be.. So one step at a time.. we can do it. -
Worried I can't do the pre-op diet!
MojoCAMI replied to Castillo15's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Castilo15 - Not sure if you have had a chance to ready the replies to your post, but you are getting the best advice from all vantage points: some who are walking the path, some who completed the pre-op and those who have done pre-op with a few hiccups. soak it all in, know that people who have never met you in person are rooting for you; want to see you succeed and will do what they can to provide encouragement, support and advice. I am currently at the mid-way point in my pre-op, I don't have to do full liquid but I do have to stay below 1200 cal with no carbs, starch, fruit or added sugar...I can't tell you how many times I wanted a potato chip or bread for my sandwich.. but instead I used romaine leaf to wrap my sandwich in, and only a half a slice of cheese. For Breakfast last Saturday I had 1 sausage patty (which my NUT said was okay) and 2oz of egg beaters, lunch was Protein shake and dinner was baked Cod with sauteed spinach using a tbs of olive oil.. Water .. water ,water sip of non-flavor vodka ...water...water water We all have our hills to climb, I like to have grapefruit as before bed snack, now I have water..I can't lie it sucks but.. and this a big big but.. its only for 2 weeks.. i will face an entirely new set of eating habit changing challenges post-op and 4weeks post op and 8 weeks post op.. i am looking forward to change in not only my taste buds, but other eating habits and of course the weight loss. So again soak in all of what everyone is saying, take the parts and pieces of the advice you can apply to your life to make a plan, to climb this hill. We will be here cheering you on the entire way and even after your procedure...why..because we care.. ~MojoCAMI -

I am in the same boat, scheduled for the 11th.. I got my supplements and have all my post op meds already in the house so i don't have to go out later for anything. i need to go pick up some cases of Water, some additional fruit flavored Protein powders (nectar brandname: Syntrax) is actually pretty good. its no old orchard but it works, kind of taste like sugar free Jello if you sipped it before letting it set in the fridge.. the one I have tried so far is Roadside lemonade I also found unsalted chicken broth at the store, and yes it taste like unsalted chicken broth.. but it will be used to help fortify any home broth's I make while on full liquids post procedure. I will pack my overnight bag next monday and put some reminders on the fridge for me for the day of procedure, as I was told to stop taking a few med prior to surgery and take that anti nausea medication 3hr prior to surgery. so far on this pre-op diet I am down 10lbs with a week to go, so hopefully I can get another 10lbs off its nice to be able to use my home scale again which maxed at 400lbs.. I almost shed a tear (almost) .. but i did pat myself on back and said "that-a-boy" Best to all... ~MojoCAMI

Hi all November Sleevers, just an update I am a Nov 11, i met with my Nutritionist for my pre-op a earlier this week..my Pre-op diet is low carb, high protein and no sugar. The calorie ceiling for each day is 1200..and so far so good.. 2 days before Nov 11th its 100% clear liquids. Strangely enough though she said it was okay to have diet soda during the pre-op..I was soo surprised, but I told her i have really limited my soda-pop intake for the last 2 years and I don't crave it, so I scratched that off the paper she gave me. all my post-op meds are ordered including my pain meds..... more info to come as the days progress.

Greek yogurt:/ Yuck!
MojoCAMI replied to Castillo15's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to agree with you Dub, Oikos Greek yogurt is tasty.. you to mix it well as it sometimes has a chalk consistency if not mixed well, that was the only learning curve I have to get use to when I crossed over from regular yogurt to Greek. -
What are you looking forward to?
MojoCAMI replied to hollybower's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Soo many great responses on this post and if you notice most if not all of them relate to quality of life which is great. some of my favs so far are: Walking down the plane isle fitting through turnstiles shopping at non-big and tall stores.. And winning the lottery Me personally I am looking forward to: shopping at non-big and tall stores not having to move the drivers seat so far back to accommodate my beer belly. being able to move my chair up closer to a table, without bumping or shifting the entire table for everyone else.. -
you can do it! While my liquid diet does not start officially for another week OCT 27th. I have been on a 2x Protein Shake (Breakfast / Lunch) and lean dinner diet consistently for the past month or so including weekends. I took this steps to help ease me into the official liquid stage coming up and subsequently post-procedure as well. Is it difficult yes, but you can do it.. PM me or reply if you need encouragement or ideas. My sleeve date is Nov 11th.. fast approaching.

Protein Shake help for taste and smell?
MojoCAMI replied to Gethealthy2016's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use unsweetened cashew milk in my morning shake and Water in my lunch shake since I am at work. There is a stark difference between the 2 liquid choices in taste and smell. Using unsweetened cashew milks which I think is 25 calories a cup, adds a malt shake like consistency when blended and gives the a more natural sweet smell vs water, which I cannot lie smells like baby milk sometimes to me. but i pinch my nose and drink it down.. -
Congrats!!! No pooping on tossing up without prior approval Its a great feeling right!! again congrats we are only a few days apart in our dates, cheers to a routine successful surgery and quick recovery.

What is everyones favorite Protein Drink?
MojoCAMI replied to JellyBellyNoMore's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay first thanks posing this question, while I am sure others have chimed via various post on other topics and forums (post -op and such), I am greatful for the folks who share what they are drinking. So for me right now I am drinking EAS lean Vanilla mixed with EAS regular chocolate why? because the chocolate has a good flavor but is chalk like if not mixed well, while the vanilla in 2x serving doses is great tasting, but I don't want 2 servings. So I found that if I take a small container (something that holds 1-2cups of Water with screw lid) and place 3 scoups of vanilla and 2 scoups of chocolate shake well (one weeks worth of Lunch) .When its time for lunch, I take one scoup of the mixed powder with water and its smooth taste pretty good to me. This is how I was able to drop a few pounds.. Now my surgeon who I mentioned this too, said there are some other brands of protien powder that are clear, but she was perfectly fine with me utilizing the current brand I use and the fashion I use it in, since I have already adjusted to it. Now I saw someone posted Cookies and cream flavor, I will be hunting that brand down and trying it. Thank you all for posting such great info and insight -
Congrats!!! and i fully understand the feeling after the call.. I was happy I had a date, but then my brain said.."hey buddy this is it" and then I started thing about things I need to pack and questions I wanted to ask..but don't worry I think we both have about 4weeks to simmer down and focus. Congrats!!!
