October List of Surgery's
WillieBradley replied to 60&goin4it's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck! I haven't posted In a while. I had surgery on October 15, 2015 so I am about 5 months post op. Highest weight 289. Surgery weight 280. Current weight 214 and still losing about 2lbs a week. My goal is 200-205, so I am not far off and haven't been to my 6 month checkup yet. (I do understand that my goal is less than most others so I take that into consideration). I got worried because I wasn't eating much at all, but my surgeon said to try to increase calories. Also I hadn't been running at all in the last 2 months because I had leg pain but the weight keep coming off, just slower. I'm walking again before I start running since daylight savings time changed I can get it in. I often don't know what to eat. It's funny, but I can't just eat something because it's there. I get hunger pains, but even then I don't really want to eat. I'm happy with the weight loss. I'm ecstatic about the lifestyle change. I eat to live....I no longer live to eat. This was the hardest thing I had done in my life and it was not easy. Challenges continue and will forever. But the process has taught me that you can be in control of your life. @@60&goin4it I must applaud your kindness and updates about your progress. You are the glue that keeps everyone together. EXERCISE CHALLENGE ROUND 2!
WillieBradley replied to Rebeccaabrooks86's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 2 and 1/2 months post-op and would love to participate as well. Surgery weight was 280. Current weight is 237. Goal for 3/16/16 is 215. Plan is to exercise 3.5 hours per week. Sorry I mean 3/1/16. -
Justin keep up the walking! It's probably one of the best things to help with any discomfort. The gas took a while but it will go away soon too. You are defiantly a rock star my man!

Thank you @@60&goin4it!! You are the glue that keeps this group together. We are blessed to have you. Merry Christmas to you and your family. I'm doing well too since surgery October 15th. It still amazes me the changes since then. Losing weight, needing new clothes, being energetic, confident, humble, and sociable. Incredible. We have so much to be thankful for this Christmas! Thankful for others, even those who were negative about our choice for surgery and for those who may not be so happy that we are losing weight. Those are the ones who (subconsciously) push us the hardest. Merry Christmas!! -

I tried that small protein "shot" too. It was a bit too sweet for me to stomach, but lots of protein in a small bottle. -

I am in here reading everyday, but I don't post as much as before surgery. I am doing well. Had surgery on October 15th. My highest weight was 289. I was 280 before pre-op, 272 at surgery, and am now 239. I am eating ok, and sometimes hit goal on liquids, but always manage to hit the protein goals as of lately. Strange because I was drinking over 90 ounces a day before surgery... Otherwise, nothing too eventful here. Keeping up with the exercise every other day, and trying to eat whenever I can although I am not hungry very often. Hopefully I will have some before and after pictures to share. Viewing other people's before and after photos are very motivational. Everyone looks very good. -

Dr. Heider did a test before and after the surgery to check for leaks. Can't eat or even drink water after surgery until he performs the "leak" test. I would have gone to Lexington but Lake Norman was the better self-pay for me and Heider and staff are wonderful. -

Surgery was October 15th, so today is the end of my 4th week. Surgery went well. I weighed 285 lbs. when I started preopt. Was 274 lbs. at surgery. Am now 246 lbs. I feel good but it took some time to heal. The liquid pre and postop was very challenging (more so preop than postop....during postop, I'm just not hungry very often.) Getting in the protein and the liquids has also been a challenge postop, but it's getting better. My primary physician said that 99.9% of the people wouldn't be able to have WLS because of the strict regime and lifestyle change. Therefore he does not recommend many of his patients for WLS. He said only a select few can handle it. I'm glad he thought I was a great candidate for the surgery. It has already begun to change my life for the better. Each of you should be proud you stuck with it and, instead of thinking or talking about it, you took action!! I'm proud of each and every one of you. Including those who are still seeking approval from insurance and those who are just starting preop! We are blessed to be the"chosen ones!" -

I am a week (7 days) out of surgery and am doing great. I have my first post-op appointment tomorrow morning to see how the surgeon says I am progressing. Again I want to thank each one of you. Reading your post and feeling your inspiration had taken on new meaning and given me the courage to survive WLS. @@60&goin4it you are my hero. Thanks for being YOU!! -
@@purz59 that's normal. Trust me. I just had surgery on the 15th. The pre-op was more challenging than the post op. But you will survive. I actually didn't work during the 2 weeks preop which was worst. All I had to think about was what I couldn't eat! I'm I the 5th day post-op and feeling much better, even able to tolerate the liquid diet now. It will get easier. Just do your best. You will be fine.

I just had surgery on October 15 with Dr. Heider at Centers for Surgical Weight Loss at Lake Norman in NC. I was released from the hospital on Friday. Dr Heider was wonderful. Surgery went great. The staff is wonderful. Each one came by the hospital to check on me before I left and to make sure I understood what I needed to do when discharged. I was also a self/pay and traveled from Columbia, SC. I stayed at a Mariott the night before surgery which the staff helped arrange for me. It was very convenient. I highly recommend the Centers for Surgical Weight Loss at Lake Norman. Dr. Heider even offered for me to stay another night at the hospital if I didn't feel quite comfortable enough to go home the next day (and at no additional costs) but I was ready to go. If I can answer any questions for you, please email me at Williebradley@hotmail.com. Also everything was bundled at Lake Norman. Price was all inclusive. -

My surgery went very well. I had a rough day yesterday (the day after surgery) but everyday is a better day. The gas pains are the worst. If I can manage the gas pains, I wouldn't have any complaints. Haven't taken any pain meds since being released from the hospital yesterday because my nurse said it might slow up my bowel. So I've been handling it. Not really much pain (again aside from gas). Glad everyone is doing good. I couldn't post for the past 2 days because I was weak and focused on trying to get the liquids in. It's tough but that too gets better. Thanks again for everyone's support. Couldn't have done it without you all!! -

Surgery tomorrow morning at 9am. Nervous. Headed to the hospital to do the last minute upper gi, X-rays, and lab work. I'm ready to go! Hope everything goes well for everyone. I feel blessed to have been able to read and interact with all of you during this process. You are the only ones who can truly understand what it means to go through this journey. Thank you. Love you all!! -

@@cjd2010 I feel the exact same way. Mine is the 15th. I need to go to sleep to get my mind off of this thing, but I can't even sleep I'm so nervous. I like to think I can handle anything (as all lawyers do) but this is harder than law school and any case that I have tried! Food addiction is a BEAST! -
If you made it a week without cheating, pat yourself on the back. Then get back to business and move forward. You will be fine. I'm having surgery on Thursday and have been having the thoughts about "can I really do it?" "Or will I mess things up?" I've slipped in the preop but I'm going to just "keep on moving." You will be fine. I try my best to stay away from the places that make my food addiction harder, but that's easier said than done.

@@chavonjb it's tough. My surgeon's staff said it was the first few days that are rough, but for me the whole 2 weeks are almost unbearable. I keep telling myself that too. I'm 3 days away from surgery. Not craving any sweets. It's the chicken. I am a meat eater but I usually eat lean white meat. However, I think since my body knows I'm changing the routine, it craves everything I shouldn't be eating. @ I could totally go for some roasted chicken too! But like @@kvoneye said "We Got This!" -

My psychologist said the mind is like a 5-year old crying and acting out because it doesn't like the change we have to make I eating habits. I'm struggling.
