my dr made me feel good today :)..kinda long

some people can eat bread some cant. when I was up at five cc's (i Had to have an unfill) I couldnt eat bread at all. now I can smaller bites of course.
  4. I have been feeling down lately because I felt like I was able to eat too much. (I have a ten cc band with 3.25 cc's in it) I can easily eat almost an entire six inch sub but no chips from somewhere like subway. I have been losing weight just at a very slow pace and lately it seems like I get down because I think "oh you are eating a six inch sub and getting full but you might as well eat a bag of crackers thirty minutes later even if you arent hungry" sort of like self sabotage and feeling sorry for myself. well today my dr made me feel 100 percent better he said that me being able to almost an entire six inch sub is perfect he said thats exactly where I should be and that even tho I am only losing slower that slower is better in the long run. he said to quit feeling sorry for myself and to quit snacking on the crackers and candy and ice cream because I am right where I should be as far as satiety goes. he also said he knows that alot of his patients lose very fast but he said he believes the majority of them who lose weight really fast do so by cutting out things like sugar or carbs completley and while that makes you lose weight faster he said that the majority of them start to gain it back because after a while most people have a hard time having a zero tolerance policy to sugar and carbs. He said that the people he sees with long term results are the people like myself who may lose slower but dont make drastic changes to their diet. They eat healthy but dont limit things to the extreme. so anyways now i feel great . I only lost 2 lbs in four weeks but most of that was probably self sabatoge as I stated above by eating the candy and icecream etc...I feel alot better about this now. I am wanting to lose another 30 lbs by the end of the year and I have no doubts at all that I can do it:thumbup:
  5. posted a couple weeks ago about maybe being too full. First off would like to say being overfilled sucks I mean really sucks you are tired and hungry and thirsty but cant do anything about it. well I was. I couldnt keep down liquids at all. I tried to stick it out for about 48 hours but it didnt get any better. SO I went back to the dr and we agreed that since I had been getting sick so much and I had lost about 6 lbs in two days we would just take out all the Fluid for about a week then we would go back and put what I had before the fill that was too tight (which was 5 cc's when he put it up to 5.5 cc's thats when I couldnt keep anything down) anyways so I go back and he puts back in the 5cc's and immediately I could feel this burning in my throat. I went ahead and took a drink of Water and knew right away it was too much. he told me to lie down so he could take some out bring me down to 4.75 ccs. well as soon as I laid down that drink of water wanted to come up but I was embarassed to throw up in front of the dr so I just held it. He left the room and I sat up looked around for somewhere I could get rid of it but there was no where in the room. I had to go outside to the restroom. SO, the water came back up with all the slimey stuff and everything you know the gross stuff. and I went back into the waiting room. I thought well maybe since I got rid of that first drink from the fill and he took some out it will be better.. it wasnt I could still feel that tightness in my chest I took a very very very very very small sip of water and knew immediately I was still too tight. right then the nurse stuck her head in and asked if I was OK? I said no and said I think he (the dr) will need to take out some more fluid. He came in and took out a little more and I waited but it was still too tight!!! So He took some more out I am down to about 3.00 cc's now and that was good. I asked him why if I wasnt able to go back to 5cc's and he said my tissue around the band had probably swollen he said it happens all the time when people get overfilled they cant go right back to where they were and not to feel bad.

Just venting ~ WLS not work ?!?

there is NOTHING easy about lapband. anyone can eat around it.. it still takes hard work and dedication
  7. I need to quit buying the same portions of food I bought before. when going out. I am just wasting it. when will I learn. I need a good swift kick in the butt if I order food that says "HEY you cant eat all that!" Sometimes I take it home but I dont really like leftovers much they taste funny to me.. I need to start looking at the kids menus ..lol
  8. I had a fill yesterday I found after the fill I couldnt gulp down liquids anymore. this morning I can only sip ....if I take big drinks I feel like the liquid is getting stuck..its not coming up tho it's going down but now i feel like I have heartburn.. do you think this means Im too full or is it just in the morning because you are stricter. also Its that time of the month so could this be making me tighter? should I stick it out as long as I can get things down or go in to get an unfill?
  9. I just recently met two ladies both of who had lap band surgery one had it about 3 years ago the other 2 years ago. They met at a support group and both had problems with their band(had the same doctor he has since quit doing bands) they both had to have all the saline removed from their bands so have not had anything in there for about a year maybe a little over.. ok normal right but both of them still get stuck on food if they dont chew well...so does this mean the amount of saline you have in your band is not in direct correlation to whether or not you get stuck or are too tight? I was just really shocked by this maybe I dont understand the band like I thought I did.

    question?

thanks you are right. I am supposed to go back to the dr on the 16th. Instead of worrying this week so much about the quantitiy of food. I am going to really concentrate on chewing properly

    question?

stats 4.00 cc's in a 10 cc band 1. I keep getting stuck on food from eating too fast. Its only the first couple of bites so I know its not from over eating. but the thing is I dont feel full (satisfied full not stuffed full) unless I eat at least 1.5 -2 cups of food. where I know with the band you should be satisfied on .5 to 1 cup of food. so im always hungry so when I eat its like I just devour it and those first few bites something gets stuck b ecause I eat too fast . The only time this doesnt happen is when I allow myself at meal A. to eat more than a cup of food then I am completely satisfied until meal B. I know I should chew slower but its just so hard when I feel like im starving . I dont eat bad stuff. I have lost like 30 lbs since mid January... I excercise and stuff. But im worried about the getting stuck part. My dr wont give me any more fills until I get it under control
  12. I keep eating too fast if Im really hungry my first few bites I just eat too fast. when will it click? I keep getting stuck and have to wait til the food goes down or comes up before I can finish the rest of whatever I was eating. I keep doing it I need to just think before I start eating. :cursing:
  13. is there anyone out there like me? I was banded in December I have about 4.5 cc's in my 10cc standard AP band. I lost 18 lbs within the first three months but then between my second and third fill I gained 8 of those back. my third fill has been pretty good. I am satisfied 9 times out of 10 on 1/2 to 1 cup of food. I had the third fill April 14th and have since lost those 8 pounds plus about 5 more. There are some foods I cannot eat at all (corn chips, french fries, beef, yogurt (the yogurt thing is weird but no matter what it gets stuck..weird but who am I to fully understand the dynamics of my band) I can eat chicken, turkey, fine and do. I can eat whole grain breads if I chew it well and take small bites. ok so that sounds like alot of people but Im looking to see if theres anyone who didnt say "no sugar" no breads no no no. because I didnt do that and Im not going too. I just dont eat it in excess. for example the other day I really really wanted a hershey bar (my favorite desert) so got one I ate two squares off of it and gave the rest to my bf. I just feel like im alone because I keep reading posts where most bandsters seem to just get the band then go on an atkins diet? so just wondering am I a minority since Ive chosen not to take that route?
  14. :frown:a small background.. I am post surgery had my third fill a couple weeks ago. I have really worked hard on sticking to my portion sizes ...my dr says about a cup..or about the size of a lean cuisine dinner. so ive been doing that BUT when I look at that one cup of food it just looks like so much .. and then I feel guilty.. I mean I try to think "ok before this you would eat 3-4 cups in a setting" or I try to think ok you are losing weight. I dont know why I feel so guilty for eating that one cup of food now. I just look down at my legs when Im eating and wonder why I keep eating. should I reduce the portion size to 1/2 a cup.... im so confused I feel like theres a war going on in my head. .. one parts telling me good job..the other one is saying NO that still too much food look how little you've lost. its like this constant battle in my head which is so weird because I never worried about portion sizes ..(probably why I got so big) but now its like almost an obsession. .. im sorry to ramble none of this will probably make any sense. maybe it will tho ..to someone
  15. I have had one fill 3.25 cc in 10cc standard AP band. I can still gulp food and not feel stuck sometimes. sometimes if I gulp food I do get stuck but not always and its not really a bad stuck it just last about 15 seconds and then goes down. I dont gulp on purpose. I dont sit there and say let me take huge bites.. but honestly im still getting used to all this and sometimes especially if I feel really hungry I forget to chew chew chew and just gulp it down but I am wondering if this means I need another fill?
