    Arms and thighs??? HELP

It's great motivation if you can just get yourself there. I know once I get there, I'm totally into it. I just have a hard time with talking myself out of going. I can always come up with reasons not to go. I'm a stay at home mom, so I had to make a rule for myself. No shower untill I get my workout. I find it easier to do in my home, especially with winter coming and I'm all snug and warm in my house. I don't want to get out into the cold car and drive up there. I have found that I stay on track better if I work out at home. I don't have any excuses. I'm already there and it doesn't matter what I look like doing it.

    Arms and thighs??? HELP

When I joined the gym I got a complementary training lesson. He told me to do my weight lifting BEFORE cardio so that my muscles would get optimal oxygen and I wouldn't be worn out from the cardio and my body would firm up better. Also, it's nice to get my weight training in before I'm all sweaty and yucky.

    Loud Stomach

I have the same problem. My stomach is always making noise and I constantly have a lot of gas that is difficult to pass. I was banded Nov. '07. It seems to have my stomach always bloated up. Sometimes I feel like the Blueberry girl on Willy Wonka. I think that is what is making all the noise. I have tried gas-X but it doesn't seem to help. I'm right with you, awaiting some advise.:tt2:

    For those who have PCOS

I have gotten the same diagnosis. Adenomyosis. I am in so much pain and discomfort. Did yours cause backpain? I went to the back institute thinking that I had injured my back in some way. I am scheduled to have hysterectomy on July 25th. I was banded back in Nov. 07. I'm a little worried about how this will effect my band.

    Slow Losers Unite!

I know what you mean, Smithart. The bad stuff always seems to go down just fine.

    Slow Losers Unite!

Maybe you're eating it too fast? I know that no matter what I eat, if I eat it too fast and don't chew well it will be painful. I am a slow loser but I tend to gain back easily and once I gain that pound I go into that vicious cycle of drowning my sorrows with bad food which leads to more weight gain. I talked to my Doc about this and he said to weigh myself every morning and if I gain ONE pound then to put myself on "Time Out" A protein shake for Breakfast, a SIMPLE salad for lunch and a protein shake for dinner. And nothing else! It definately works! The next morning not only have I lost the pound I gained but I lost ANOTHER! Woohoo. I'm glad to have found something that can nip the emotional eating in the bud. It stops it before it ever gets a chance to start. I feel like I'm actually starting to "heal" that connection between emotions and food.

    Slow Losers Unite!

I haven't been here in a while either. I haven't been doing well or losing either. Maybe there is a cooralation.(sp?) Anyway, I went for a fill and had to hang my head in shame as the doc told me I gained a pound. EEKK!! He told me to weigh myself every morning and if I had gained a pound I was to put myself on "Time out" I have a four yr old so I'm familiar with that. Time out for me was he said I could have a protein shake for breakfast, a small simple salad for lunch, and a protein shake for dinner and that was all. So guess what? Today I'm on time out. sigh... It's good though because it immediately snaps you out of that vicious cycle we can so easily slip into when we gain weight. I'm loving it. It doesn't let you drown your sorrows in a bag of potato chips. It forces you to get right back up again. So far, it has been the best advise I have received since banded. I can't get out of it either since I enforce my four yr olds time out then if I didn't follow through with mine it wouldn't be fair. Also, if a 4 yr old can do then so can I. After all, I do deserve it!
  11. Mergatroy, I am starting tomorrow. I will be posting how it goes daily. I hope you will do the same. It's encouraging to have someone out there working the same program. I am stocked up on soups and protein shakes to get started. Yippee!:leaving:
  12. Tomorrow I start the 5 day pouch test and I'm looking forward to a fresh start.
  13. Thanks, I will try and up my protein. I have increased my solid proteins and find it does give me restriction. Also, I find that the most helpful thing about staying on top and losing with the band is to stay on sites like this and hear from others and get support. Support, Support, Support. Ms. Shrinko de mayo - support does not mean condemning and shaking your finger at everyone. Until you are in the shoes and walking the walk I will thank you to stay off my back about the struggle I'm having. Some of us have a self-destruct switch and if honey, you can tell me where it is, I will gladly turn it off and take ALL your advise. The world does not give us obese people much kindness and understanding so that is why we should strive to dish it out here for one another. The man at the meeting is probably just trying to vent the frustration he is feeling. Instead of walking away we should lift him up and give him encouragement.

    Why??????

Well, I certainly don't want to lose my band. I went through WAY too much to get it. I didn't realize that would happpen. That is sure motivation to do the right thing. I have been reading up on "slider" foods. I didn't realize that chips and pretzels were sliders. I thought since they were crisp that they would be good, but they dissolve into a slurry that goes right through. I've been eating nothing but slider foods. No wonder I don't feel restriction. Yesterday I stayed with solid proteins and I certainly felt my restriction.
  15. Does it seem like your metabolism slowed down after you had the surgery? I know that doesn't make any sense but it just seems that way to me. I feel like my metabolism has slowed way down after surgery. I don't lose as easily as before surgery. Even though it is easier to not eat it seems like more of a struggle to get the weight to come off.
