Hi there, there are also people like me who are "slow losers" - shit happens and I am over it - I only wish some other people on this site would get over my weight loss and slowness as well However, after 6 months I think I have finally "gotten" it and I am doing really well now, maybe I am just a slow starter. Regardless, you will do fine - focus on the good and stop looking for the bad stories LOL, look for the good ones and inspire yourself girl!

Howdy, I am doing pretty darn good if I say so myself. I am at what my surgeon calls my "sweet spot" !!! This is pretty huge to me and to anyone else who has the band and gets to this point - I didn't really understand when I heard others talk about their "sweet spot" but now I truly get it. I am doing extremely well with foods and I am figuring out on a daily basis what works best for me nutrition and hunger wise. I have made a few small tweaks as to what keeps me satiated and I am finding out what makes my mind feel satisfied as well. I can't believe how I not only quit smoking for the past 3 weeks but I am really happy that I did. I am so much healthier feeling. So over all things are good, I am starting yet another college semester this Monday, two classes this semester and I work full time as well for those who didn't know. I am going to have to work out my time better so I can work, take care of school, take care of myself and still exercise. It will be challenging but I can do it. OK, enough for now, it is time for me to peruse this site and see what I can see to inspire me :wink2::thumbup:

How do you deal with your family?
babbs3772 replied to cookiebaby's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband is the only one who went with me to my surgery but my entire family knew and I didn't care one bit to be honest - if anyone made a comment I never heard about it but then again I don't think anyone would dare take my inventory regarding my surgery before looking at themselves and their lives first. That being said, my mother honestly didn't say much period - she is a good person and I love her very much, I do not honestly know what she thought about this surgery...she has not said and I haven't asked. She is and has been overweight for as long as I can remember, but that is her battle to fight not mine - I wonder if it bothered her that I had this surgery, but I am 36 years old and I live my life finally! Good luck to you! -
Exercising on pre op diet
babbs3772 replied to serenity55's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was terrified I wouldn't lose the weight in time for my surgery date and I was told he cancels if you do not meet the expected loss, so you bet I was exercising my butt off! I walked everyday during my lunch and then came home and used my treadmill, it worked, I lost more than needed before my surgery and it got me on my way : Good luck to you! -

What do you like about being banded?
babbs3772 replied to Catherine55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like feeling my restriction, it keeps me in check and it gives me confidence... sounds silly maybe to some people, but for me it means that I have a chance. -
I think I pretty much ate Gas X strips for days after my surgery - they were my best friend, when I got tired of the taste of the cinnamon and the minty fresh strips I switched chewable Gas X. I hope you feel better soon!

Surgical Steri Strips
babbs3772 replied to mom23gr8boys's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used lotion on my belly and it was fine, I can't see why not? Also as far as the steri strips, my Surgeon said that I would leave them on until they were pretty much falling off, I did this for my first surgery, but then I had a port revision and decided to take them off a little sooner - bad idea LOL, they were not ready to come off and I was tugging at my scab at my incision area - ouch:eek: So lesson learned, don't yank - duh right? I felt like a real genius after that experience. Oh, you could trim the steri strips, I did end up doing that to stop them from curling. -
5cc, 6 months post-op, NOT LOSING!!! What's with this?
babbs3772 replied to coloraturabell's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you are cursed then I am too  I am 7 months post op, I lost 22 lbs pre op and then only 8 pounds for 6 months post op! Now this past month (Jan) I have finally started to lose. I know the feeling of waiting for something to happen, I have 5.5 cc in a 10 cc band right now and it is so hard when I see other people losing fast than me. However, I do not get stuck (unless I try to eat bread of any sort) I am wondering if you need a slight un-fill? I am not a Doctor obviously so it is just my thought. Good luck to you, please know you are not alone and I wish you well, Barbie -
Hello  I got a fill when I was not feeling so hot and was on meds from my PCP, I hope there isn't any problem getting your fill - good luck to you!

Gummie vitamins vs chewables
babbs3772 replied to exumtam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take Viactiv Calcium chewable's, and now they make Viactiv multivitamins and I take those as well, I do take Biotin as well, not chewable but I am 7 months out and it doesn't bother me to swallow them. -
How many banders can eat bread without problems? How much and when?
babbs3772 replied to coloradobanding's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I do not think, nor have I been told - that a burger is off limits! They are yummy and I haven't had one for a long time, perhaps I will have one this weekend (sans bun though for me) Thank you for the reminder! -

babbs3772 replied to coloradobanding's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You will hear no negatives about breads from me  I love breads but they do not love me, since I have gotten good restriction I have been able to indulge in such things. I suppose it is ok as breads are an issue for me, always have been. I saw my surgeon today and he said maybe some day that will change, but only I will know if it will work. So, no bread whatsoever for me, it just gets stuck - as well as my favorite sushi - no rice for me apparently. I get lots of carbohydrates from other foods, my oatmeal in the morning, potatoes and such :biggrin: -

surgery scheduled 2/12/09...wow i'm scared
babbs3772 replied to iwalktheline's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello  You will be so happy you had this surgery once it is all said and done. It may not be peaches and cream right after the surgery, but once you get through the tough parts you will find that you had more strength in you that you ever thought  Happy banding and I can't wait to see how you are doing after surgery! -
Seriously thinking about Lap-Band...still not sure
babbs3772 replied to ginabee38's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I do not think I have actually told anyone exactly why and what made me decide to have this surgery on this site - but here it is... My Aunt who has watched me struggle for so long finally asked me when I was going to stop punishing myself with food and learn to live. That is what did it for me. She and her daughter had both had gastric bypass and that is what they did - they lived emotionally and physically. It made me (and I say me personally) realize that I was going to be this way for the rest of my life if I didn't get help and I didn't want to live the rest of my life this way. Good luck to you -
Hi Fran, you know I decided to check that site you list above and I think I might switch! It will be hard as I have been using that site for a very long time, but change is good! Thank you for posting this  Barbie

Hi Shelley :w00t: Goodness yes, I think that is completely normal! I know I too had those feelings all the way until I actually had my surgery :tt1: I was worried I would fail, but anxious to try - so many thoughts went through my head on a daily basis  I can't wait to see more from you guys as you travel along  -
I liked your post and it hit home, you are not alone...
