  1. Hello Jenniferg, I feel ok over all, my port is on my right side and every once and a while if I move just right I will feel a pinch. I am gassy and having to take a lot of Gas X strips right now (sorry probably TMI lol) There is no way I would be able to got to work as I am exhausted, some times I am fine sitting up and the next I am dozing off, I need a lot of rest these days. Barbara:smile:
  2. Thank you for all the great replies I feel much better now knowing that this is normal and other people have experienced the same. I am excited that tomorrow is my full liquid diet stage - pudding will never have tasted so good I bet LOL.
  3. I can't believe it is finally here after 10 months of hard work. I am excited and nervous - not nervous about the surgery itself, nervous they will change their mind tomorrow LOL, silly worries on my part:redface:. I just wanted to share with all of you and I will be back for my post op support!:cursing:

    11 more days until surgery!!

You have my thoughts and prayers! I am not far behind you for my date and I understand about being scared, I scared all the time lately - so much so that I barely keep food in me lol, which is helping with my pre-op diet that starts this Friday. I am so happy for you and I know you will be fine

    glue instead of stitches

My surgery date isn't until June 16th, however, I had laproscopic surgery last year for a ovarian cyst that hemorrhaged. They used the glue instead of stitches - thankfully as I tend to have a problem with stitches, my skin rejects them. I healed wonderfully and I really liked the glue.

    don't know what to do

Northwest Nance I had to quote you "But after sleeping on it, I realized.... they all know I'm fat!!!" That is exactly what I thought to myself when I thought about not telling people LOL, like it was some big secret I was over weight.

    don't know what to do

I understand about being embarrassed and confused, I felt the same way as if I was the only person who was going to be overweight there. You are the only one who can make that kind of decision- you and your doctor of course. Be kind to yourself right now, you are going to need your own support just to make the decision to have the surgery much less actually get through the process. I think what helped me when I went to the informational meeting was that I knew it was now or never for me and I had to attend that meeting if I wanted to understand what I would be going through (or at least get a general idea) So yes, I was scared and embarrassed, I had a hard time meeting peoples eyes, quite frankly I think most felt the same way, and there were a ton of people there - but you know what? We were all there for the same reason! That is what made it easier for me. So that being said, be nice to yourself, take good care, go to the meeting and listen :)
  9. Hello and welcome - all the feelings you have sound very normal - at least I hope they are because I have felt them as well  I am not that far from having my actual surgery and there are moments where I think about not eating a bagel, but honestly for me the rewards from this surgery are going to beat eating that darn bagel! I suppose it is perspective and as you move along in your journey you may find that your perspective of what you think you will miss and what you think you will gain will change Welcome again, you will find a lot of support, great answers to questions and some pretty darn funny people here!

    Liquid diet

Hello, no mine is not that restrictive - sorry to hear yours is. Mine starts a week from today- for ten days. I can have: calories -1000-1200, less than 50 gms fat, can't remember Protein and carb off of the top of my head right now.. my Protein shakes, Jello, pudding, sf hot chocholate, 4oz orange juice, soymilk, creamed soups, broth etc. I wish you the best of luck and just think - It is only temporary! It will pass and you will make it through! At least that is what I keep telling myself to think about when I am on my ten days :w00t:

    Where are the vermonters?

Well it is 18 days until surgery and I am really becoming anxiety ridden these days - what if my blood gas test doesn't come back ok? is it going to hurt? Any thoughts?

    Where are the vermonters?

To be honest salads and fruits do that to me anyways and I am being banded on the 16th of June The Fiber -especially since lettuce and such has so much Water in it does tend to cleanse me out. When were you banded? and if you don't mind me asking - you certainly do not have to answere- how much have you lost since the banding?
  13. Well, honestly - there are people who will be supportive:smile:, people who will surprise you and then there are people who are really not your friends at all - I guess these women may fall into that category - and jealousy is no excuse for acting the way you say they are. Smile, be happy, and let it go, move on - You do not need anyones approval and you don't need to make them happy or figure them out - that isn't your problem
  14. Hello, I do not eat any meat, only fish and shellfish, I do eat eggs that are organic and free range only, I have drank soy milk for the past 15 years - I am planning on eating carefully as well in regards to Protein, but I will work around it. Refried Beans (vegetarian for me) are a great idea. I also use a Protein powder that is unflavored and flavored to mix in for my Soups, yogurts, and such - Gold Standard is the name. Good luck

Who has kept it a secret?

I say - and I quote my long passed away grandmother "who gives a rat's who ha?" its your decision and it is such a personal one - the only one who needs to be sure is you :)f I personally have told my co-workers, I have not told my husbands family yet, have told my side a little, and have told only two close friends. Our close "husband wife" friends do not know - simply because I want to surprise them Don't worry, if you tell them fine that is fine, if you don't that is fine too, the end result will be you made a wonderful, informed, personal and life changing decision that you made, good luck to you!!! :tongue2: I will be banded June 16th and can not wait!:smile2:

37 Days to go and nervous!

Yes, the surgeon will cancel the surgery if the weight is not lost - so, you can bet I am not going to let that happen
  17. As of today I have 37 days left until my surgery date of June 16th. I need to lose 6 lbs before June 2nd or my surgery will be cancelled, ugghh.... so I am basically doing my liquid Protein diet a bit early and excercising to lose this weight in time for the weigh in. I am excited, nervous, nauseaus, thrilled and anxious all at the same time. I want this surgery so badly and I can't believe that it is within my immediate future. Every day I wake up and worry - oh no what if the insurance company reverses their decision? what if I don't lose the weight in time? blah blah blah, my typical anxiety ridden emotions pouring forth. Thank you to any one who reads this, I just have so much pent up emotion and there are not a lot of people in my "regular" world who get how nervous I am or how happy I am about this surgery :thumbup:

    Approved!!!!!!!!

Thank you, I am so excited right now. I am glad I was able to get such a quick change from them.
  21. babbs3772

    Approved!!!!!!!!

I was denied because of an exclusion that my company has, I can't remember the exact wording right now but it essentially meant that I didn't have enough severe comorbidities. The insurance is CBA Blue in Vermont. They wrote a letter and gave them some more info and then they approved!

    New from Snowy Vermont

Hi mom2kat, I am 5'2 and 223. From what I have been told from my surgeon the wait from the initial visit with him to surgery is 6 months. However, I am sure this depends on so many factors, myself I have gotten lucky and have been getting my appointments incredibly quick. Before my first appt with the surgeon it was probably about two months before when I approached my reg doctor, then I had to wait for an introduction group like meeting.
  25. Hello I am new to this board, but have been checking out many posts when I can. I have my first appointment with my surgeon Dr. Forgione here in Vermont as well as the nutritionist on the 17th of January - I am very excited and look forward to meeting all of you online
