anyone else still really hungry all the time post sleeve surgery? AND does a bypass take away hunger?
krash11 replied to Catherine Keegan's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I got the sleeve in September of 2016 after complications with the band. I am always hungry and never full. With the band, I lost 101 lbs. With the sleeve, i have regained 50 of those pounds. I see the surgeon on Monday to talk about a bypass or the switch. -
Anybody switch from band to sleeve?

I didn't even think of having it looked at, i just figured it wasn't right for me. Hopefully the new surgeon will look at that. Thanks -
Anybody switch from band to sleeve?
krash11 replied to janellody's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I got the band in 2008 and lost 101 lbs. I started getting the slippage in 2015/2016. Late 2016 my surgeon told me the band needed to come out and it really wasn't being used anymore and recommended the sleeve. Worst mistake i ever made. During the healing process, i lost about 20 lbs but once that was done, i started gaining and i have now gained back about half of what i lost with the band. It's all fine and well to say "follow the diet" but the sleeve gave me no restriction and i can eat only slightly less that i could with a whole stomach. If all there was to it was dieting, you wouldn't need the help of surgery. I'm going to see a new surgeon at the end of the month to see if a band can be put back on. -

Lap band removal and mortified.
krash11 replied to crustymouse23's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
For the 1st year or so I followed the diet to the letter. Slowly over the years the old habits crept back in. I sip of pop turned into half a little can to a full little can and so on. Same with sweets. A chip here turned into a cookie there. So by the time the band came off, I did the full indulgence. Maybe not the smartest move but after so many years, it was nice to feel "normal" when going out to eat. I had my food funeral and then jumped right back on the horse and started the liquid diet and post surgical diet all over again. It sucks but gotta loose the 45lbs I gained. So far, after having the revision I don't really crave anything yet. Hope it stays that way. -

I had the band for 7 years before I had to have it removed due to the slippage. I lost 101lbs in the first year and pretty much maintained that for the duration. When I had to get my first unfill from the slip I gained 20lbs then lost it with fills. The second time around I gained the 20lbs but could loose it. When it came out I gained another 20lbs. I did find that if I ate regular size meals, that I didn't graze because I was full for a longer period of time then when I had the band. I got my revision on 10/13 and including the pre op diet, I am down 20lbs. Try not to stress yourself out to much. Just try eating large health meals and you will do ok. -

Im not concerned about the hair loss. I never had any issues with the band and i think with the sleeve i will be getting more nutrients then before. I think any multi vitamin will work. -

I havnt done any vitamin research but i agree going there every month is a pain. Im just going to get some centrum multi vitamins when im done with my current bottle. It rubs me the wrong way that the promote their own brand. Screams kickback to me. I never took vitamins with the band and never had any problems. -

They didn't tell you either? I didn't know till I made the class appt. You get a little goodie bag with your choice of Protein powder, your Vitamins, a fit bit type thing and a shaker bottle. I think the price actually went up to $400 because they picked a new pedometer style. -

diane1, I was a band to sleeve revision done in two surgeries, so I didn't have to go through all the rig-a-ma-rol again. I really think I only had to go to the 4hr class so they could justify the $300 program fee. I really don't have that much to lose and I have already lost half of that. -

I also go to Silver Cross. Dr Joyce did my surgery on the 13th. -
I know this isn't what some people want to hear but you mentioned it in your post. I had the band (getting revision next week due to band complications) I lost 101 lbs in my first year and never exercised once. I maintained my weight by eating right until the complications started a year ago. It can be done without the exercise but I think it's the exception and not the norm. I started Kickboxing last Oct and loved it but I never lost anything doing it.

Did you have your band unfilled prior to revision surgery?

I didn't have to get mine unfilled but I did as I too was going on trip to Colorado. -
Eating meals with other people

Another tip I learned is if you hold your fork in your hand, the servers will leave you alone and not ask if your done or if you didn't like your meal. I also order from the kids menu a lot. -
I had both procedures done. I didn't even think to look at insurance for the tummy tuck but they did cover the boob job. I think I was off for two weeks each time. I did not do them together.
