Calling all February Bandsters!

Hello BeachComber, I hope to be approved for Feb… An upper endoscopy is not too bad, a few years back I had one, they put me under for a little and hand me lay on my side, next thing I know they are pulling the tubing from my mouth. Other than a tender throat and some…*blush* drool. It was fine; just relax. Loup
3. Since I am going to see the doctor my dad saw I hope to have the same thing he did (Glue… not sure about the internal stitching part). I hope this is what I get because I am allergic to steri-strips and had a bad reaction to staples once too (how I managed that I am not sure as I thought staples were made from a non allergenic material.) I suppose even if the doc does have a preferred method it may have to be changed due to allergic reactions… I really do not want to have that reaction again… *shudders*

I'm home and banded!

So happy to hear you are doing alright, I hope the puppies remember not to jump; If/when I get mine I will have to remember to lock myself in my room as I have 3 cats that love to cuddle. *l*

Ok, just had my Mental Evaluation today, I know he told me that I was a good candidate but I promised myself that I would not become excited until everything was run through and the surgical date was set. I cannot help feel a little excited though; to even have the thought of change is more then enough to be happy about. I know this is going to be a tuff road ahead but by darn, I am just happy to have the idea of having this opportunity… I am nervous. Loup
7. I have been large for most of my life, there was a period of time when I was sick and lost a good amount of weight. During that time I was able to experience the difference in how I was treated. Now that I am back to health I have gained weight and am once again experiencing the discrimination. Within the last month I have been performing my own investigation on discrimination. I find it fascinating to see how people treat veiled thin women vs. veiled large woman. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> It is very ridiculous and silly really, but I suppose that is all based upon society and how people “should” be. Loup

Request from Olympia, please....

Hello, My dad just had the band done last month with Dr. Neal; and I am currently going through the pre stages. My dad is very happy so far and is one of the reasons why I have decided to really examine this option. I have also heard no complaints about Dr. Neal. Also, I think the cut off is a BMI of 40 unless you have health issues caused by your weight then its 35. Cannot quote though, that is just what I have read on a few sites. Loup

difficulties with knowing what to do

I would have to agree, step up the exercise a little because if you go to about 500 cals and/or lower your body starts to go into “starvation” mode and that will only make things worse.

Hello, I am Loup (Wolf); I am in WA. State and will be 25 in a few months. I am currently going through the steps and have my nutritionist appointment tomorrow with my psychological evaluation set to Monday. My dad just got his LB about two or three weeks ago and is really excited that I have decided to look into this option. I am thrilled to have crossed this forum, it is so nice to talk with people who have struggled in the same way I have. Loup
11. To view the video I was speaking of go to: Lap Band talk Forum – The Largest Forum for Lap Band Surgery Discussion and Lap Band Surgery Support > Basics for Lap-band Surgery > beginners > Lap-Band Surgery FAQs and References > To LIVE Lap-band Surgery Videos! (Posted by Alex) Not sure if this link will work but this is the link to the topic: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f73/two-live-lap-band-surgery-videos-33949/ Hope this helps, just don’t eat anything before you watch it, my tummy started to turn… :omg: Loup
12. Ok I did it; I have my mental evaluation on Monday next week and my nutritional evaluation this Wednesday. I have decided to do this, not because it is an easy way out (because it is definitely not going to be easy) as my boyfriend has stated. I have chosen this because I have 6+ relatives who are obese, 1 with diabetes, a few with high blood pressure and some of the other fun stuff obesity causes. I have been fighting this issue my entire life and I have selected to take further action to help lead a healthy lifestyle… and boy I’m frightened. I have read a lot of information and watched the actual procedure via a few links provided, I understand what is going to happen but I still have a lot of questions (don’t we all) I have a coworker who has been on this for 2 years and swears by it, she is going to be one of my #1 supporters (so I believe). My partner may not agree with it (he is indeed blessed with the metabolism of the gods) but with how long I have struggled with weight and once he also becomes educated; maybe then he will understand. I love him for loving me how I am, but I want to be able and go hiking with him in 10 years. I think one of my biggest fears is not being able to qualify; I have a BMI of 41 so I am on the edge of qualification. Another fear is simply being cut into. How have other people coped with these oncoming fears? Loup
13. Hello, My father just had LB and is suggesting that I get it done; this sounds like a good idea but I am very scared. I am a 24 year old woman who is around 254 pounds, I have tried many different diet plans which work for some time but the weight always comes back. I suppose what makes this even harder is my boyfriend is not supportive of the idea; he thinks it is a copout or excuse for laziness. I dance twice a week and walk whenever I can, I may have an office job but I am not lazy. I know he loves me just the way I am but I also know his negative thoughts about this is because he has struggled with being too thin all of his life… Now wouldn’t that be a different struggle.I want to thank everyone for all of the information provided; I really am looking forward to reading it. Loup
