    4 days post op

No idea. If it's constant it could be some trapped air that you'll have to wait to come out. If it comes and goes it could be how fast/much liquid you're taking in. Talk to your surgeon if you're concerned though. I get an odd feeling in my stomach every so often, and when I swallow something too, and I had my surgery on the 2nd. It could simply be your body adjusting.
  2. I chose not to get specialized insurance, but my surgery company did recommend a provider: http://medicaltravelshield.com/ Remember the EHIC card (E111) will not cover you if your purpose for travelling is to have surgery (though, if you injured yourself in a way unrelated to your surgery, like dropping you suitcase on your toe in the airport and breaking it, you would still be covered). Who are you having your surgery with?

Take something for dry mouth (a mouth spray or gel) and some wet wipes with you. I couldn't shower for a day or two after and wet wipes made life much easier. I also got some pyjamas and some joggers to go home with that have that yoga style 'roll top' waistband? Very comfortable and it means you can roll the waist back so it's not resting on your incisions. Sainsbury's do some pairs that are comfy and quite cheap, other supermarkets may do too.
  4. Did they give you a binder or manual or pamphlet? They should've! Do you already have the syntax nectar? Curious if it's truly tasteless. Hubby just bought me some yesterday to add to my broth so that there is protein in that too. Haven't tried it yet. Was the bolthouse green drink what you meant by being wrong? You'll get into a routine soon!!! (Hugs) Yes I was wrong with the bolt house drink. They gave me a binder, but I never had a problem until I got home and realized I couldn't stand the protein. They want me to mix my protein with 4 oz of pureed fruit once a day and mix my protein with milk for my second serving of protein. There aren't many options and I realize that protein is in the form of powder for now, but it's the worst for me. For now I'll stick to my liquid such as water, jello, broth for now at least until I can eat soft meats. If it's the milkiness that's getting you, have you considered trying to find a powder from a non-whey source? That might be be making it worse?

I was provided with the shakes by the hospital, but depending on how long you're staying in a hotel etc, you may want to take some with you for after? I did bring some of my own with me, but I haven't used them. Sorry, I assumed from the question you were still shopping for a provider, the 10th huh? So soon! Good luck, I'm sure it will go great. Who did you end up choosing to go with and how long are you staying? Sure, if I end up in Cardiff we should sort something out.

4 weeks out and 5 pound gain?

How many calories are you averaging a day? If you're doing everything else right I'm tempted to agree with those who suggested you may not be eating enough?

I've only had it for four days so I think it's a bit early to talk of regrets. I will say that (so far) I haven't thrown up (though I did drink half a Protein shake to fast today which caused a little nausea that went away) and they've had me on a proton pump inhibitor so I've had no problems with excess acid, even when I have sometimes forgotten to take it until later. Acid reflux is quite a common side effect post sleeve surgery so I won't know if that's the case for me until I come off the PPI, but the hospital sends you home with a three month supply and my GP says she'll re-prescribe if needed. Not to jinx myself but in the scheme of things I think my op seems to have been fine, but early days yet. I'm from near Birmingham, but actually may be moving to Wales later this year if I get accepted to go back to do my MA in Cardiff (I have a sister who lives there). If money is an issue you may also want to consider the wrap instead of the sleeve as it seems to have similar results and costs just over half the price with the company I mentioned. Don't make your decision based solely on financial reasons, go with the procedure you feel is best for you, but don't necessarily discount it either.

Sorry, just realised you asked about fluids. I have the week at hospital here, then two weeks at home, then two weeks on mush.

First two days it hurt, but if you say pain or sick to any of the nurses they come in and either add something to your IV or give you and injection for pain, depending on if your IV is in or not. Nausea stopped after the second day, I didn't throw up at all. Pain now is just my big incision and my drain site (the drain didn't come out until yesterday). Generally it's OK but I keep coughing and then you really feel it.

    At the hospital now!

My big incision and drain site are still really sore, but the rest is feeling ok. I'm off IV and drinking (warm is easier than cold stuff right now) and they've just put some liquid plaster stuff over my stitches so I can have a shower, which I'm pretty excited about. Just going to finish my mug of whatever they brought me first then I can wash off all the iodine.
  12. I have the procedure on Tuesday and pre-op testing tomorrow so they have you arrive at the hospital today. It's happening!
  13. You are so lucky. A lot of stuff they gave me orally. And I say liquid Prilosec tasted like dead fish. It was horrible. I got blood thinner injections in the hospital along with medicine to help cut nerves. I ended up in the ear yesterday because of bladder retention. It was causing me to get blood in my urine. Ended up with an IV for dehydration. Another thing to note. Not all doctors understand bariatric surgery. During the ct last night they discovered that my intestines are inflamed, he kept trying to give me Motrin type products and I had to repeteatly tell him I can't take those anymore. They ave me omeprazole orally, but in pill form. It was ok so long as I was careful how much water I drank when I swallowed it. The blood thinners I get injected into my stomach every day until the end of my stay. Because I'm here a week I should hopefully have those problems sorted before I leave, but I got a decent amount of liquid in for my first day on liquids, and I managed some protein shake, so fingers crossed everything stays fine.

First two days utterly blew. The drain and IV came out today and that made me feel a bit better, but the incisions and drain site are very sore. Other than that OK I think, hopefully tomorrow will be better, really hope they let me take a shower tomorrow.

    HELP! Always thirsty!

This is going to sound obvious, but drink more and take the vitamins etc you should be? I'm not sure what else your friend is expecting?

I'm currently in my hospital room in the Czech Republic. I am from the UK and paid 4510 EUR (about £3500ish) plus flights (about £175, but I could have gotten those cheaper). You arrive at the hospital on Sunday, have pre-op tests Monday and surgery on Tueday. You then stay in the hospital until the following Saturday to make sure everything is OK and you're comfortable with how you should be eating etc. A week is longer then most places but I found that quite reassuring as I was travelling alone. You get a private room/bathroom or for an extra 30EUR a night you can bring a family member into the family room with you. The company was newleafwls.co.uk. They also have a really good private facebook group you can join.
  20. Good luck going home and I hope you both continue to improve. I have to admit I'm kind of relieved I'm not going home yet, I feel better than I did but certainly wouldn't feel ready to fly etc.

    Chicken, beef, pork, fish?

tofu is easy to put into soups and is soft to eat
  23. I had my surgery on the 2nd and am still hurting, but do feel a little better. I was nauseated but they put something in my IV to sort it out, and now on day three while I still have some pain my drain came out today an I've been off IVs since mid yesterday. The drain coming out made me feel a bit better. Get your docs to give you anti-nausea stuff! I was really scared about throwing up because I was in a lot of pain and the thought of having to engage the muscles needed to throw up made me want to cry a little. Day two is pretty awful, day three will see some improvement.

    Thank you!

    Ticker

Under my ticker it says '68.5kgs lost' (which is the total amount I have to lose) instead of the amount I have actually lost. I've checked the ticker properties and everything is in the right place, how can I fix this?
