I'm only 20lbs down but I had my first NSV today because a pair of jeans that were too tight on the thighs and just about did up on the waist (but couldn't be worn in public) no fit me and are even a little loose. I have a bag of plus size clothes in different sizes from past closet sort outs as my weight changed because I don't want to spend money on new clothes until I hit regular sizes, but my wardrobe is going to be very limited until then as the only clothes I had was that bag and the ones I brought home in my suitcase.

Unless you have other medical issues I don't think you would need a helper at home, after the first week (bar any complications, [not to ill-wish]) you should be moving around pretty easily. My big incision was still sore after a week (but it was infected), but I could still get around. As long as you're not doing any heavy lifting etc it shouldn't be a problem. The bigger issue with getting stuff done earlier can often be that you just don't have the energy while on the liquid diet, but your son is 10 so he's not super young.

Calling all February 1st Sleevers!
perforce replied to arenea's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's fairly normal to hit a stall when changes food phases, so I wouldn't worry. I was sleeved 2/2, but am on liquids for another week before going to the mushy/pureed stage. I expect I'll stop losing then for a while. -
Your scales and the doctor scales may not weigh the same. It really is a minor amount so I wouldn't worry too much, but please let us know how it goes (and wear light clothes!)
-
Are you getting weighed today? Because half a lb really is a minor blip

Sleeve and Stage 1 Kidney Disease

This would definitely be something to talk to a real doctor about, but I do know that certain conditions do prevent you from having this type of surgery. If you can't get your levels of protein in that could be a major problem. -
I agree with nlo127, I had a bowel movement my second day and have had one every day since, there is no reason not to have one for so long. I would get some prune juice in to you pronto and speak to your doc if a laxative doesn't work.

Hospital+2 weeks at home: liquids thin enough to pass through a fork. Week 4 and 5: blended and mushy food Week 6 onwards: solid food, start soft and check what you can tolerate.
-
My surgeon had me on liquids (thin enough to pass through a fork) for the week in hospital and two weeks after, then I'll go on to blended/mushy for two weeks, then solids. Every surgeon is different though, so stick with whatever yours says.

How long were you on pain medicine for at home?
perforce replied to scoots's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on pain news for 5 of the 7 days in hospital, but didn't go home with any. However, my big incision site does still bother me (soreness mainly) but not enough for painkillers, it's just annoying. -
I think I have gymphobia..?

Walk! My surgeon said no cardio for 6 weeks and no weights etc for 8, so I've just been walking. -
Anyone have their surgery when they had a cold?
perforce replied to songsmith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told if I had a cold my sugary would be cancelled, but I was going abroad to do it, so get checked out by your surgeons office. It could be OK? -

I was looking at a surgery comparison site and I'm sure they were including results from an 18 year study of the sleeve. I can't remember the site bow but if you Google you may find it. -

I had miso soup today -
My surgeon warned me that little bits of food could get caught in the staples and potentially cause abscesses etc, so you may be a bit early. What did your surgeon recommend? Follow the doctor's instructions you were given.

I'm from the UK but had my surgery in the Czech Republic, so it may well be a case of different standards for different countries.

I had trouble with cold liquids at first so I ordered the protein hot chocolate, went down much easier -
I started mine the day of surgery and was told I had to use a tampon during surgery, not a pad, but otherwise was fine.

No one is scare about flying after surgery?
perforce replied to Gmantrek's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to make a change in Paris because I was flying to Birmingham, each flight was just over an hour, but with the on Necton time it was about 3 and a half hours. -
Can you get paracetamol in the US? It's not an NSAID but is in a lot of our cold medicine here in the UK.

No one is scare about flying after surgery?
perforce replied to Gmantrek's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine done in Prague and flew back to the UK after with no problems. I was given injections in my stomach every day I was there post surgery to stop blood clots, but didn't have to take any injections home to do myself. -
January or February 2016 Sleevers?
perforce replied to songsmith's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm allowed more carbohydrate heavy foods during the mushy phase that (mashed potato, mushy weetabix etc) that we should limit further out. I guess because it's soft and easy to digest? -

I do sometimes have a twinge or a little pain and my mind immediately goes 'ah! leak!'
