You and your new post op ass, a guide.
sharkgirl replied to winklie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
there is no thing like a good poop. I won't even weigh myself until I've had a good poop. Never heard of smooth move tea but I'll have to hunt that down. -
Just learned my surgeon doesn't give pain meds after surgery!
sharkgirl replied to Tishthedish's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with Catwoman7, I took 2 pain pills when I got home and I probably could have taken tylenol. In fact, I routinely tried to get them to give me less pain meds in the hospital because they made me so sleepy and itchy and I had to take Benedryl for the itchiness which caused me to be more sleepy. Could you get your PCP to give you pain meds should you need them? -
I am currently 14 weeks post op and will be traveling to London at the end of the month. I am super worried about food because I am a picky eater and my pouch is super picky. I was thinking about bringing individual Meal Replacement shakes and a shaker bottle, Quest bars and what else? Obviously space and weight in my suitcase will be at a premium because I'll be outside a lot and have to pack layers for the rain and cold. Anyone have any advise? Food and hydration are my biggest worry along with comfy waterproof boots. Thanks in advance!

Botox treatment in nyc
sharkgirl replied to Sophia Hermon's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I have it done every few months and the recovery time is super minimal. You shouldn't work out or lay down for a few hours afterwards as the botox can travel. Also, the first time you have it done you can get a headache. Avoid taking any Alleve or Asprin a week ahead of time to reduce the bleeding and bruising. I have a little bit of bruising at the injection site but that's because I have a bleeding disorder that causes excessive bruising. Just remember, less is better, you can always go back and have more added. You won't see the results right away; a week to two for the first time and a few times for subsequent times. Next to my RNY, getting the Botox is the best thing I've done for myself. And yes, I can still move my face and have expressions, I do less then 10 units in my forehead and about 10 units around my eyes for the crowsfeet. -
In my house the pouch is referred to as it's own entity. "The pouch didn't like that meal" or "The pouch isn't feeling good right now". My husband "what does the pouch want for Breakfast?". I don't tolerate much meat right now so I still have to rely a Protein shake for breakfast. At least I can drink those now where before the pouch rejected them immediately following surgery. chicken is the most tolerated meat followed by hard boiled eggs (NOT scrambled).

So yet again I find myself here talking about my ass.
sharkgirl replied to winklie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We joke in our support group about how much weight we have lost and how much more it will after after a good poop. I refuse to weigh myself unless I've gone poop in the morning. -
RNY + hiatal hernia repair = harder recovery?
sharkgirl replied to RNYDawn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am doing really good. My weight loss is slow but it's more than would have lost on my own and my clothes are getting bigger. Not having the reflux has been amazing. I didn't realize how much it had impacted my life until it went away. I became the go to person for Zantac and I feel bad now because I don't carry it since I don't need it. Lot of luck to you for your surgery. It truly changes your life in so many ways. -
Where did you all lose weight from first?
sharkgirl replied to Sajijoma's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I lost from the top down too. Very frustrating when my pants weren't getting smaller at the same rate as the top. I've lost a lot from my butt too but not my tummy or my thighs. -
RNY + hiatal hernia repair = harder recovery?
sharkgirl replied to RNYDawn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a hiatal hernia repaired at the same time as my RNY and I didn't have any problems with recovery. I took very little pain meds in the hospital because they made me so sleepy and only took them at night for about 2 days once I was home. I was so excited to be free of the reflux and gagging on my saliva at night; first time in over 2 decades. -
My biggest milestone to date...
sharkgirl replied to TXMissy's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Congratulations!!! Great job making it into onederland -
I bought two dresses in styles that I have always wanted to wear but was too heavy. They are the size I want to be in and I use them as motivation.

Amusing, here is your laugh for the day.
sharkgirl replied to winklie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Djmohr I was just complaining about the same thing yesterday. My pants are waaayyyyy too big in the ass but my waist is not keeping up enough for me to go into a smaller size. I might need to wear bicycle shorts with butt padding. -
Gerd or gastritis before RNY surgery
sharkgirl replied to JohaAidenMommy's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
After surgery, it was the first time in 25 years I haven't had GERD. I almost cried simply because I finally felt better and didn't have to take massive amounts of meds to keep in under control. -
Like others, I haven't publicly said anything on FB because I don't want to hear people's opinions on "taking the easy way out". There is nothing easy about it. If someone mentioned losing weight, I just state the I am on a strict food plan and workout a lot; both of which are completely true. I don't owe anyone anything more.

My thought exactly. The straw wrapper thing raised red flags. IMO, as you lose weight she is going to do more of this to try to make you look less significant in your husband's life. Women like her tend to be insecure and need to use you to make herself look better in front of your husband. I'm sorry for the treatment, mean people suck.

What have you learned to love since WLS?
sharkgirl replied to dhrguru's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I love eating because I have to not because I want to I love going to yoga and being able to get into poses where my stomach was in the way before I love wearing clothes again I love water, just plain ordinary water -
Old stomach still growling and gurgling
sharkgirl replied to retzlpa's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My pouch gurgles a lot too after I eat or especially if I am drinking a lot of Water after working out. -
I agree with @nikkimapr. Go to a running store or even some sporting goods store and get fitted. Once you know your foot type (neutral, pronate, etc) then it's easy to pick shoes in the future. Shoes are so expensive and you don't want to be stuck with one that doesn't fit right or worse cause a problem. Good luck!

i guess i could be a vegetarian?
sharkgirl replied to BeautyInProgress's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am the same way. I also had this trouble when I was pregnant and my dr thinks it's the excess hormones post surgery. -
Drinking
sharkgirl replied to Finding myself again's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get that too. It typically passes in about 10 min provided I don't do it again. I notice it mostly in the evening but that could be because I've just worked out and trying to replace what I sweated out. -
I am another one with bypass and don't dump for foods that should trigger it. It comes down to me not eating something simply because I shouldn't not because I can. Unfortunately, there are a lot of foods that I should be able to eat and can't so a revision isn't necessarily your answer to your situation. Keep your eye and mind on the journey!

What is weigh-loss goal reality, sleeve & bypass?
sharkgirl replied to WLSResources/ClothingExch's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@WLSResources/ClothingExch You are 100% correct and I have come to understand that. I am very pleased with my current average. The fact that the scale is going down and I am wearing clothes I haven't worn in 3 years is fantastic. -
What is weigh-loss goal reality, sleeve & bypass?
sharkgirl replied to WLSResources/ClothingExch's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My binder given to me by the surgeon office indicates average is 1 pound a day which is why I have been disappointed in my weight loss simply by those standards. My average is 3 pounds a week which is much better than I had before; NOTHING.
