Vacation season...What are your plans?
sharkgirl replied to Healthy_life2's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
My husband and I are going diving in shark cages with Great White Sharks in July for our 20th anniversary. We are taking our family to Glenwood Springs to go hiking, ziplining and ATVing. Decided this would be my Summer to do things I never would have done because I was too heavy. -
Funny observation about clothes post-surgery
sharkgirl replied to gpmed's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@kranky813, I bought a 31 but they are big in the waist (have to wear a belt to keep them from sagging in the butt). I don't know if I could wear a 30 because of the thighs. I mentioned my thigh "issue" to my trainer and now she is obsessed with working them harder. Hopefully the pain is worth it. I am no longer losing weight but I think my clothes are getting bigger. Since my clothes are always baggy it's really hard to know. I really need to take my measurements. -

I am wearing a L and size 12 pants. My problem is my waist is definitely a 12 but my thighs have caught up to the rest of me. I bought a pair of Miss Me jeans because I could but the waist is a bit big which is a bummer because they were expensive. -

So I am having a hard time trying to figure out where to shop. When you are plus sized your choices are limited and now I don't know where to shop that is cute and trendy but not too young. I definitely don't want to dress like my daughter even if I can fit into her clothes. I have said this before, but this is the fun part of losing this much weight and keeping it off for more than a minute. -
This! I want people to stop talking about my size. Don't tell me I am too thin now (I can assure you I am not) and the more I lose the more people feel they can ask very direct questions which are truly none of their business. I have a thick skin and I am not easily offended but lately people's questions are getting to me.

Great job on the weight loss! I am trying to break into different styles instead of sticking with my "normal". -
Feeling like a fraud in the "misses" clothes section
sharkgirl replied to Josey Quinn's topic in The Gals' Room
I was just thinking about this yesterday. I ordered a dress online in a L and was nervous it was going to fit. It arrived in the TINIEST box (WTH Nordstorm) and when I pulled it out I kept thinking that it was so small and no way was it going to fit. It does and looks fantastic (once I Iron it) but I am still in awe at what fits me now. Enjoy the new discovery, I personally think this is the fun part especially since we went through so much to get here. -
Great job!!!

Oh! Tell me about that! How expensive? How painful? Is it permanent or does it have to be done over and over again? I've had Juvaderm injected in my lips a couple of times and it's expensive, it hurts like hell and it doesn't last as long as it does when injected into your facial folds. Rumor has it Allergan is going to come out with an injectable specifically for the lips and the industry is hoping it will last longer then the 3 mos for Juvaderm. I do love my Botox and need it more now as I continue to lose weight.

What causes "water" nausea?
sharkgirl replied to ocgirl15's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Early on I couldn't drink Water either, had to only drink Powerade(blue only) and slowly introduced water but only Smart Water or Figi brands. All other waters taste gross to me. I also stopped being able to add flavors to my water too. It all sounds super silly but I've learned not to upset the pouch! -
Must look for this!!!

Question for Those With Suspect/Actual Strictures or Ulcers
sharkgirl replied to talking mountain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did neither. My doctor put me on Carafate for my ulcer since the double dose of Prilosec made me feel better. Since the Carafate improved things I haven't done any further testing. -

I do get annoyed with the friends who don't take my needs into consideration such as book club being at a winery or held at an Italian restaurant (a trigger food for me). I realize it isn't always about me and they shouldn't have to change because of me but it still bugs me.
