Oops! Drank with my food.
hollybower replied to Runner1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Two things. If you drink before or during eating you will feel to full to eat what's really needed by your body. If you drink while eating or after, your pushing the food down not allowing the body time to really digest and absorb. So there's two parts to it. -
Ok psych eval done!! It consisted of 4 different "test" as she called them. Questions that are completely normal and ok to HONESTLY answer. She then talked with me and then said that she's not the one who makes the final decision about the surgery but just gives her report to the dr. She did say that I seem to understand the seriousness of the surgery and the life long effects it will have. All in all I feel 100% awesome about it and it took about 2hrs!!

To tell or not to tell...
hollybower replied to DaisyAmy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have told my husband and my kids. I wish I felt OK to tell my closest friend (my sister!) but I feel bad that it will make her feel even worse about herself. Then again I think, I've don't so many things to try to lose and it keeps coming back.. So since I have tried so hard for so long, I DESERVE THIS!!!!! I still don't think I'll mention it, but when the weight starts falling off, I'm sure there will be questions asked! -

VSG and depression/anxiety meds
hollybower replied to betterme38's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wondered the same thing but a lot of people on here have said that many of us are on antidepressants and have anxiety simply because of our weight and the issues that it causes. A lot of people have not had any issues with their psych evaluation some have had minor issues. I have my evaluation today I will let you know how it goes. -
I know everyone gets excited over different things. But tomorrow is my psych evaluation. It was only a couple of weeks ago that I found out that my insurance covered the surgery and then I decided it was time to go ahead and press forward for a permanent change. I am in my six months supervised diet which is a requirement by my insurance. But I was told to go ahead and get my visit in with my nutritionist and get my psych evaluation done. So tomorrow is both my nutrition visit and my psych evaluation and I cannot believe that within just a couple of weeks time that those little milestones are here. I cannot wait for the surgery, nor can I wait for all of the little milestones after if this is exciting to me now, I can only imagine what the rest of my journey holds.

How did you compensate for being fat? Will you change when you're thin?
hollybower replied to VSGAnn2014's topic in Rants & Raves
I wear dark colors A LOT! I have really long beautiful hair and I don't wear it down because it draws attention to myself and I don't want that. I don't go out and am not involved in any groups in church. I rarely go to the beach and if I do I DO NOT sit for fear of looking like a beached whale when trying to get up. I will say one thing I am really ready for, is being 100lbs down and seeing my ex and his new fat wife. Lol -
I have anthem I had a 6 month required "wait"

Any bad experiences ? by not taking vitamins/protein drink
hollybower replied to shirleyjohn001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The patch. once a day. I haven't had my surgery yet but I'm starting early with the vitamins to get in the habit, and to prep my body. Put it on after a shower that way it's in a full 24hrs before I take another shower. -

NSV - underwear
hollybower replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congratulations! I don't know how you got by without changing bra sizes, I'm adamant about wearing a good fitting bra. But I haven't bothered with new underwear yet. so everyone is pretty much scared to buy new panties and during their weight loss they just keep wearing the granny panties? How can you walk around with saggy undies?? -

Yes it's patch md. I bought mine from Amazon. It's a 30 day supply for around 21bucks. I'm just sticking up right now. But try them. -
