    October sleevers

WOW! I feel like a slob! I did liquid and yogurt diet 1.5 weeks post op, by week 2 i was eating scrambled eggs( very little) and yogurt. My doctor said eat what I can, but without doubt DRINK!!!! and PROTEIN!!! I eat very little at one time. I did find protein chews- peanut butter chocolate - 10mg of protein ,not to gross, from think thin. I miss salads and vegis. Lost 23 lbs - 5 weeks post op. I feel so much better!!!
  2. Hi All! I am 4 weeks post -op tomorrow and 18 lbs lighter! I have some questions and concerns I am wondering if someone you who have been on this journey awhile will help with. I am having some struggles with eating slower, not drinking while eating, dumping (yuck) finding a protein shake ( and other products ) that doesnt make me have so much gas. There are times that I feel hunger what seems to be soon after I ate and was full. What is that? Is it just the body getting used to things or is it a mind game? Sometimes after eating I feel so full and sick to my stomach , after what I feel like is a small amount of food. I am using no butter, oils,or sugars in anything I consume but have had an issue with dumping. HAs anyone else had issues with sugar free products giving them gas or dumping ? Thanks so much for your time and sharing your experiences with me!!
  3. I am glad we have had a chance to chat. I was feeling the same. No regrets , just having issues with the learning curve. There are times I can't believe I'm hungry . I am going back to basics, yogurt and introduce things slower. Lets keep in touch I think we can help talk each other through this tropical37@gmail.com
  4. Yep, I get that too. I have changed Protein drink brands a few times, some are too thick. I am wondering if the sugar free things i am choosing to ingest have too much sugar alcohols. I am gassy all the time. Someone told me I maybe introducing too many different types of new food items. My doc is ok with eating pretty much anything - minus the sugar, butter and high carbs foods, he recommends to eat the Proteins first then if i want or have room for vegi. I have had this dumping for 2 days now. I am thinking it is related to this New whey Protein shake its no sugar- high protein but goes right through me. Anyway ---- food is becoming no fun right now.... I still feel tired as well. I keep thinking its the combonation of time change-diet change-no caffine/sugar - and the surgery are you taking your B12 and Vitamins?
  5. I'm doing well. Minor set backs I would say are due to my not chewing the food enough, slowing down when I eat,I still have the "eyes are bigger than my stomach " mentality. I make sure to eat off small plates. I have a hard time remembering not to drink while eating. I had a dumping experience , sorry if that's TMI. Thank God I was home! I still have sore ribs on the left. I started the treadmill and squats last week. I have lost a total of 18 lbs since the surgery. Dr said that's good. Miss crunchy food, everything is mushy to me right now.

    October sleevers

@beauty29@sasechick Post op 1 week today. A few questions . I am eating small portions of yogurt , cottage cheese, sliced chicken , sugar free ice pops, per my dr instructions. Also drinking high protein , low sugar drinks, I wonder how long the gassy feeling after eating and drinking lasts? And does anyone feel nausea after eating? Please add me to any emails or face book accounts Tropical37@gmail.com
  7. Does anyone get a yucky taste in the mouth? My swelling is going down in my belly. But now I have the menstrual cycle from hell. I was going to try to go to work tomorrow , I'm thinking Wednesday maybe a better option . Keep in good spirits , there is light at the end of this tunnel

    Any South Florida Sleevers!

@@ssflbelle Hi ladies! I had my sleeve on Monday the 19th, with Dr. Shillingford. He is s super guy, as well as the hospital staff! I was worried for the usual pre surgical reasons. But I am very happy I finally did this for me. I have been taking it slow, walking, and eating. I have to say, from what I have read Dr. Shillingford's pt have a more liberal eating schedule post op- I have been eating yogurt, cottage cheese, Soup ( I bought the unjury Protein to add to everything) very thinly sliced chicken breast,(chew , chew chew) and Protein drinks. Sipping is hard but you only forget ONCE. Eating slower is a new one for me as well. I ws planning to go back to work on Monday , but Im thinking I was being way to ambitious thinking that .....maybe Wednesday.
  9. Day 3 still gassy. Finding hard to drink 64 oz. did eat some Greek yogurt, sliced turkey, and cottage cheese...not all at one time and chewed a million times. No pain , just sore as hell. No pain meds anymore. Gonna try soup tonight .
  10. FYI , read up on medical alert bracelets for sleevers. I just ordered one . Just wanted to pass it on
  11. Day 2 HOME! Very gassy and swollen , but otherwise feeling good. Trying hard to get 64 oz of liquid in. But very glad to be home. Did I say I was GASSY.....lol!
  12. Hi everyone so it's 24 hours after my sleeve! I am so proud of myself for taking this step and opening up my future to more possibilities. So, surgery went extremely well,I also had a hernia repaired, which he did at no extra charge. I love my Doc! Upper chest gas , more burping than anything. VERY sore, slightly nauseous . Should go home tomorrow Hope you 19th sleepers are doing well

@slvd2bfit@slvd2bfit@slvd2bfit@slvd2bfit@slvd2bfit@slvd2bfit Dr. Shillingford is my dr also. My sleeve is scheduled for tomorrow at 10 am!
  14. Thank you for your inspirational comments. I am opening up alittle more to select people about my decision to do the sleeve. I guess there really is no way to make anyone understand the struggle it has been to get to this point. For many people I think you're right , there is a stigma attached to this surgery. I think many people equate this journey as a quick fix , or even to serving some kind of vanity issues more than health issue. I can understand where you are coming from with your daughter as well. My son as been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome 3 years ago. I have heard people say some mean things because they do not understand his behaviors and think he "looks normal" thanks for the chat!! @@♥dreamable
  15. @@KrizzleKat Sorry to hear that. Try to stay focused and positive- think small obstacle a postponement is just that - its not a never will happen good luck
  16. So I'm just gonna say some stuff . Maybe it will sound crazy - if so I blame it on liquid diet for 2 weeks lol- Maybe its stuff you all thought about also. I had the strangest thought the other day- what if this doesn't work either???? I mean, I have spent a small fortune ( enough to fund a small country I 'm sure) over the years on pre packaged foods plans, gyms , exercise equipment, trainers, pills, shots,drinks,-----did I miss anything??? and what if this too fails??? Is anyone else alittle freaked out? I just needed to get it off my chest to people that (hopefully) get it. Thanks for your support !
  17. @@Julie Broderick Nelson I'm the 19th also. I had all my pre-op tests yesterday and have been on liquid /yogurt diet since last week-yuck- I am just trying to stay focused and positive. I have set a small goal to learn how to swim- which means buying a bathing suit!! YIKES!! Getting nervous but excited
  18. Getting my pre op testing done this morning ! Yahoo!
  19. Let us know how you are holding up @@pat1954
  20. @@linzlou2000 getting down to the wire!! I go for all my pre-surgery tests in the morning! I'm on week 2 of liquid diet- my dr said I can have greek yogurt and sugar free ice pops, sugar free Jello. We went to a movie yesterday - I resisted popcorn and soda. snuck in a Protein shake--LOL We went to dinner at the Sushi place- I had only Miso Soup . Good Luck on the 19th!
  21. So my surgery date is Oct. 19th. I am now doing the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Not doing to bad... Can eat greek yogurt, sugar free ice pops, sugar free jello and high protein low sugar drinks all day long. I have been very private about who i tell- which to this point is 2 people outside my finace and daugther. I told a very ol, verydear friend who responded with some negativity. The most bothersome comment was "well you're gonna loss all your pretty hair, you might get skinny but you're gonna be BALD!" WHAT ???? Does anyone know someone who lost all their hair?? I heard if you dont take in the proper amount of protein and vitamins you may lose some hair. This is why i didnt want to tell anyone-
  22. Getting mixed emotions about the surgery. I am excited I'm getting it done, anxious its so close yet seems like it will be the LONGEST 1.5 weeks of my life. Totally on liquid diet since Monday- did have tomato Soup for dinner one night . Eating Greek yogurt and drinking high Protein low sugar drinks , crystal light , sugar free ice pops and sugar free Jello. I have been very private about it, only telling 1 friend and my supervisor for the time off at work. I feel uneasy discussing it . Anyone else feel like this?
