Hello, I was banded on 3/31/08 by Dr. Jones in Jonesboro, AR. I've gone from 270 lbs to 237 lbs currently. I want to make contact with someone in the Wynne, AR, Jonesboro, AR area for support while going through this transformation. I've lost 40 lbs but gain 15 lbs back now starting to lose again. Thanks!

Struggling nine-month after surgery
essieburton posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, I was banded on 3/31/2008; was doing well at first until my first fill when my doctor realized my port had flipped. Had a lot of pain in my abdomen but continued to lose weight. By Sept 2008, I was down from 270 to 228 lbs. To make a long story short, I started slacking on my exercise and was eating soft foods there were high in calories and drinking wine. By the time I saw my surgeon again I was back to 242lbs in Nov. 2008. By 11/21/08, my port was sewed back into place. I've been watching would I eat and feel alot better physical but mentally it's starting to get to me that I'm not losing like I was. Any suggestions from anyone would be greatly appreciated, even if it's "tough love" comments. I am also looking for a lap band buddie to communicate with, I figured maybe if I had a partner, this will get better. Thanks! -

I was banded on 3-31-2008 and lost 42 lbs by 9-11-2008. Yet I noticed last month that I had gained some wait plus my port had came a loose and was giving my some problems. Now after my surgery on 11-21-2008 I looked like I haven't lost any weight. My question is.....Is this normal? -
Thanks a bunch!!!

What to do until fill????
essieburton replied to singermama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went for my first fill on May 30, 2008, the doctor was unable to find the port so I was sent across the street for an x-ray. It was discovered the port moved side-ways. He was able to give me 1 cc of saline, but I don't know yet what the doctor is going to do........... -
Eating too much before first fill
essieburton replied to essieburton's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think everyone's answers are great! It gives us different views and opinions on what works best for each one of us and what we can share and take away from it. I believe fully believe in making healthy choices but at the same time I want some enjoyment out of it. This weekend I found out I can have shrimp, pulled pork, veggies, etc in moderation and cooked to where it tasted great, lots of flavor. Being a black southern soul food cooking gal, I am now finding ways to enjoy soul food and other dishes with half the calories, fat, and what not. My main problem is grain type dishes especially anything that is made of flour. This is my weakness. But after reading some other threads and reading different recipes from low carb and regular recipes from different websites, I've concluded we can enjoy food with alterations done to best serve our physical and mental needs. Thanks again for everyone's opinions! I think this is great! -
Eating too much before first fill

I need some help......I had my surgery on 3/31/2008. I won't have my first fill until 5/30/2008, right now I can eat a lot more than a small amount of food. I just eat two enchalida's, chips, and dip. I was told since my stomach has healed until my first fill, food will basically go through until than. Can anyone give me information on their own first experiences. Thanks in advance!!!:cursing: -

I know how you feel, I was banded on 3/31/2008, first fill on 5/30/2008. Right now I can eat pretty much anything I want, except for bread...doen't go down well. I have made some bad choices in meals, but after getting some advise from other bandsters, I am now watching what I eat. Hang in there, a change is going to come! -
Eating too much before first fill
essieburton replied to essieburton's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi royalbee, are you feeling full after you eat a little or are you realizing you can eat more after the first 6-7 weeks. Some people don't get fills if the unfilled band is working for them. Me on the other hand need a fill; only five more days until the first one!!! -

What to do until fill????
essieburton replied to singermama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 3/31/08 and feel like I'm starving at times. I try to eat something healthy for a snack, yogurt, baked chips, protein bar, etc. But I am in the between stage of mushie and solid. So are now I'm eating 4-5 times a day. I feel a little better knowing it not just me suffering right now; first fill won't be until 5/30/08. I try to exercise to compensate some of my eating.............. -

I two have been ridiculed by my younger brother and sister, (both are tall and thin) it got to me at times. I have my first consultation on 1-23-2008. Currently weighing in at 260 lbs, 5'7 inches tall. But for the most part it sounds like they are jealous on the part of your mother and sister.
