    Eating Leftovers

Shrimp is a food that always makes me sick, which is disappointing because I used to love it and the Protein in it is great. As for leftovers. I usually find they are too hard for my stomach unless it's a Soup. Then I get that stomach pain that doesn't go away so I have to vomit to make the pain stop, cause it'll last well over an hour.
  2. I drink coffee daily, as they changed my work hours to having me busy at 6am. My dr never had an issue with it, younger guy. As long as I'm hydrated I think he's fine with it

    Goodwill shopping help

You rent clothes??? From where? That's amazing! I have lived in Danskin capris for years. Almost feel like it is a uniform. But, I do need more yoga pants so I may be headed back to buy some in smaller sizes. Gwynnie Bee. They have a month free, if I refer you I get $25 towards my monthly bill, you get your month free still Win Win. Either way, worth looking at, seriously.
  4. I was going through my clothes, I used to be a 24W, 3X and I was putting them aside cleaning out my closet, etc. I'm a L and 12/14 now. I bought a bunch of shirts less than a week ago, so I set aside the ones I really loved and didn't want to get rid of. Now I'm on a sewing project, bought a sewing machine and resizing the ones I love. It'll take awhile but well worth it to me!

What was your rate of loss?

I've lost 55lbs since surgery on Jan 27th. I was losing about 3lbs a wk, now I'm at a stall for 2 weeks, then lost 3 lbs from last week. Not on a regular exercise program really yet. I walk a lot and see a trainer on Mondays, but then my kid is around all the time so I don't have workout time cause she's usually cranky after I get out of work, husband is at work, so I don't feel like dragging her to the gym

    Mini Bypass or Full Bypass

I don't know much about it but do your research and talk with the surgeon/team to determine the best for your personally. That's how I'd handle that. After my RNY I had gastric reflux apparently (didn't feel like it) that was found via a barium test due to frequent vomiting from week 2 until about 4 months post-surgery. It wasn't the cause of the vomiting, that was due to my esophagus randomly spasming.

    My Hair is falling :(

My hair comes out by the fistful. I brush my hair and like 5 strands stick together and come out. I recently dyed and cut my hair to about chin length for it to be less noticeable, and that's helped. Yes, the hair is still coming out, but when I look in the mirror I feel less self-concious.

    Not "seeing" results

I've had the same issue, but what made me realize it was one day when my husband told me to buy a pair of pants for myself because I wore leggings since after surgery as they are very forgiveable in regards to weight loss. I grabbed a size 18, he told me to try a size 16. A 14 is what fit me. That's when it clicked for me. I cry sometimes cause I don't feel like I've changed my size but that's normal. It's okay to feel this way, just don't let it take over your thoughts.

    Body Dysmorphia

I also feel like I could've written that. I've cried to my therapist several times about this to be honest. I have those days where I feel like I've made no progress, or I'm not making any more progress. I jiggle my stomach or thighs and want to cry. I'm around 180 right now, we started around same size, etc. I feel this ALOT. One thing that hit home was when I actually put on a size 14 pair of pants, and this past weekend shopping for size Large shirts, which I haven't worn since high school. It's hard. I try to use those moments when I feel down or don't see what others see, to realize how far I have truly come and how much healthier I feel.

    In the ER:(

Hope it gets better soon. I'm sorry. Not fun.
  12. I get comments lately like "Oh you are so skinny" "You are melting" or "What is your secret?" I hate it. It makes me want to have an eating disorder, just being honest. I've talked with my therapist about these thoughts. It especially bothers me when it comes from ppl who don't know I had the surgery. And no, I'm still eating and drinking as I should, so don't worry about that. I'm just saying, I hate the comments. Like suddenly you notice and care about me? Please.

    2 weeks till RNY

I had those feelings too. I wouldn't start the diet now, but I would practice what you've learned for post-surgery. One bite of cookie, maybe, but focus on what you need to do after the surgery. It gets easier, promise! Don't lose sight of your goal.

I got my approval call yesterday!

    Congrats, I remember that feeling!!!

    Um...where is my appetite?

I get head hungry where I think I can eat a "normal portion" such as a whole chicken breast, and after like 4 bites I'm done. As in real hunger, I don't really get it. I just look at clock, decide it's whatever meal or snack time, and eat my item.

all of a sudden, guys from my school days

They sound like losers to me. They sound like desperate soles and noticed you, so they're clinging to a lie to get what they want. I've never had this issue but I also have my profile on FB as private and don't have exes at friends. I'm too old for wasted drama anyways, you sound reasonably young so this happening doesn't surprise me.

    Pain after drinking...

Agreed with James. The pain sensation does go away. Heck, I'm almost 4 months post-op and still occasionally have that pain, so I sip slowly during those moments and get it going with liquids as much as I can. Try different liquids, and temperatures may help as well.

Post op sharp pulling pain 1 week out

I had the pulling pains after, without a gallbladder removal. I also had to take Vicodin around the clock for a week and then twice daily for a few weeks after. Depends on ppl's tolerance to pain. As for the pulling, your body is healing from a major surgery, so things are healing and the pulling sensation is usually the healing and you're moving around so it pulls healing tissue, totally normal. Hope that makes sense. It's like with a sore muscle, it feels comfy in one position but when you stretch it, it has that pulling sensation, but it's not breaking or ruining anything, just stretching out the muscle tissue.

    Do certain comments bother you?

I agree nyteacher125, but wait til you're post-op. I thought the same thing prior to my surgery and I get what you're saying. I've had both comments, both hurt me to be honest. I have a bad time with anything weight related, period. But I also have a horrid history of my stepfather's verbal abuse and then my mom as a result, so it hurts me. My mom ended up having an eating disorder cause of him and so to me it's more than just ppl acknowledging something, it's the manner in which they do it. It brings me back to the trauma and scares me. But, I remind myself I'm doing this in a healthy manner monitored by my surgeon, dietician, therapist, etc. It's just loaded to me I guess. And I feel like ppl notice me more and talk to me more now that I've lost weight, especially the in-law side when before they ignored me. Just my personal experience. And of course creepers hit on me when I go shopping, oh Chicago I hate you! lol

Really? A half ounce of chicken?

Agreed, dense Proteins are hard on me too. It has to be perfectly cooked or I have to vomit it up. Like if I get any beef product, has to med-rare or it hurts like no other. chicken, can't be too hard or chewy. Shrimp doesn't agree with me and we are now enemies and shrimp was one of my faves. Don't be hard on yourself, it's a process.

    Post your progress pics

I'll post. First is me at my heaviest, well about that at 277lbs. The next was last night, I'm about 180 right now, I usually weigh myself on Mondays at the gym. It's a pic of a pic after we bought it, sorry it's kinda has glare and stuff on it. I feel great so far! Hoping to tone up and lose more of course.

    Spilling the beans

My husband surprisingly respected my choice to keep it quiet and when I had the surgery he told his family I needed my appendix out to help with our daughter while he was with me during the day at the hospital for the few days I was there, then he'd pick her up from his mom's. It's kind of funny actually.

    Sick all the time

I had this, and I had a swallow test performed. They found nothing remarkable but my surgeon thinks my esophagus randomly spasms which makes me vomit. I've been taking Zofran almost daily as a result, and it's helped. So a GI specialist too who thinks the same. It's decreased in the past few weeks actually, so maybe this is it? Request some Zofran if you have no heart issues.

    Hard time drinking water?

It's a matter of finding the fluids you like. I'm fine with Water but get bored, so I usually make warm tea, or maybe not so good advice I get a large iced tea at mcdonalds and I know that's half my day's goal if I finish the whole cup, then I'll refill it with another Fluid later so I know I hit my daily goal. I also do that with large water bottles, I'll drink one and know I need to drink one more of the same filled.

    Cards when eating in restaurants?

I never got a card but I'm fine with this. I usually just bring the leftovers home and my husband gets a nice meal out of it lol.
