  1. I’ll be 2 years out on November 12 and the hardest part of this journey is definitely maintenance for me.
  2. I just celebrated my 1 year RNY surgiversary! I refer to my pouch as the "Pouch of Steel". I can eat everything, including all meats and everything else. No problems with anything....EXCEPT for Peanut Butter! It feels like lead and seems like it sits in my pouch forever. Thank God for the powdered Peanut Butter. I tolerate that just fine. Use it almost everyday some way or another. Sent from my KFASWI using the BariatricPal App
  3. Drs Jeffrey Rosen and Allen Mikhail at Lifeway Bariatrics in Downers Grove, Illinois. They are definitely board certified and a center of excellence. They do surgery out of Good Samaritan Hospital. Look them up! I'm 10 months out of Rny surgery and just love these drs and their support staff. They are fantastic!! so caring and communicative. I've had co complications and met goal about 3 months ago and have been maintaining since. Sent from my KFASWI using the BariatricPal App

    Xanax

Hi. I had RNY on November 12, 2015. And, yes, I take Xanax daily for panic and severe anxiety disorders. In my case, RNY did make a very noticeable difference in how xanax effects me. In the first 3 or so months, it hardly worked for me at all. I had terrible anxiety. Now, at 5 months out, the medication hits me hard when I first take it, but doesn't last as long in my system. U G H!! It's sort of the same reaction as others have stated in the forums here about drinking alcohol. As time goes on, it seems to be leveling out. I thought I'd lose my mind a few months ago! As my body adjusts to malabsorption, I expect my reaction to my Xanax therapy to get back to somewhat normal. Even though it's been rough, I'm getting through it. It's the only problem I've had with my surgery. Keep in touch with all your doctor's about any concerns you have. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. My physical health is fantastic, and I hit my weight goal today!! Good luck to you and your upcoming surgery.

    High Alcohol Tolerance

Gastric bypass equals malabsorption of everything including alcohol. I'm having trouble with malabsorbtion of my anti-anxiety meds and it's torture. But, this too shall pass.

    Can't bring Phone?!

Brought my phone and my tablet. Two of my necessities! Also, brought one 6 foot extension cord. That was the best. Might need 2! Good luck with your upcoming surgery
  10. I made a mistake with my cake this morning ( more milk than usual) and it was my favorite so far. 38g Peanut Butter flavor Protein powder 1 full Teaspoon baking powder (yes, that much) A drizzle any flavor sweetener you like A half cup of Fairlife 2% milk (usually use 1/3 cup) Mix thoroughly in a 2 cup bowl. If bowel is smaller, it will run over. Microwave for 52 seconds depending on your microwave Came out light and fluffy instead of heavy and thick. Was delish!! Calories 176 Fat. 3g Sugar 2g Protein 28g Carbs 10g Want less carbs? Try almond milk Less calories/too much? Make half and nuke for 30 secs.
  11. Mine came out during the bypass surgery. Thank God, no problems.

    October List of Surgery's

Hi all. I was just at my surgeon yesterday. I'm 10 weeks post op. Even though I'm a November RNY, I just love all you peeps from the October group. So, I'm jumping in! (Been lurking for months now)???? My surgeon stressed a lot yesterday about possible hair loss. He told me it most likely will be the worst in months 3 through 6. It will come back! So far, I'm ok, but 3 months is around the corner!LOL I'll keep you updated. Wishing you all the best!

    Lifting Restrictions

I think it was less than 20lbs for 6 to 8 weeks after that.

    Protein

How far are you both out of surgery? I'm almost 5 weeks post op RNY and I can get 60-70grams of protein just thru the food I eat. I drink half a premier protein shake 2 times per day to get an additional 30 grams. I usually end up between 90-100 grams per day. I also didn't feel well on all that protein supplement. Being on real food made a huge difference. Good luck!
  15. Saw my Nut and surgeon yesterday. Both are thrilled with my progress. I am 4 weeks post rny. I was cleared for all foods. I am to have 6 meals/ Snacks per day. Never to exceed 1/2 cup of either, FOREVER! NUT told me to work up to 1000 calories per day as my body will tolerate. I'm currently about 600. My program was very strict pre op for 6 months. Not because of ins. Requirements, but because that's how the surgeon does it. He wants the head habits changed as much as possible before the rny . So far, so good with my food tolerance. Now if I could only poop, I'd be golden!!!LOL
