I just got out of the hospital after a two week ordeal with blood clots in my leg. My leg swelled up three times its size. After getting to the right facility and right doctor, I had five surgeries over a two week period. It was pretty scary to say the lease, and the pain was excruciating. After putting on some 20 lbs of Fluid, I finally got relief and the swelling has gone down. Weighed this morning and am down a pound. Yay! I was wondering if anyone else has had any clot issues since getting sleeved?
-
The weekly blood check arent fun, but im grateful to be alive.

My clots were caused by something called Thurmer Syndrome. They do not think it was related to my sleeve. I had 5 procedures over two weeks. First they ran a cath up my leg and used dissolving solution to try to disolve some of the clots. Then they suctioned some of the bigger ones out. I still have some in my lower leg that they could not reach. The next procedure was two days later and it was when they put filters in at the top of each thigh to prevent clots from going to my lungs or brain. The last two procedures was to put a stent in to hold the vein open and to remove the filters they put in because they had moved and they didn't want them to go up to my brain. Currently I am taking and will continue to take cumadin for at least 3-6 months.

I still use the patches and im 10 months out. I do the multi, biotin, and the anti-aging patch. I love them and feel awesome. My labs have been spot on too.

@@theladyslipper Do you use the Benefiber daily? How much? Thanks!

I have been doing Spark since 2 weeks post op. My doctor actually has them in his office and recommends them. The are like a Vitamin Water. No carbonation, just Vitamins.

I was sleeved on Oct 8th by Dr. Jayaseelan of Dallas Bariactrics and was wondering if there were any other sleevers on this site? It would be nice to share updates and milestones and help each other with any issues.

I have been experiencing dizziness for about three weeks. Thought it was due to a sinus infection I had, but sinuse infection is gone and I still have dizziness. I read that losing 1 - 2 percent or more in body weight can cause dizziness. Has anyone had any dizziness with their weight loss? If so, have you been able to find out about it?
-
I don't have low bp and never been on bp meds. All blood tests have been normal. I have increased my water intake and am hoping that helps, but i was getting at least 6 cups a day. This all started when I got sick with sinus infection. Went to doctor and they did a dizziness test where they talt me in different directions and said I had vertigo. It's gotten really bad weather I'm doing yoga, standing or sitting the room starts spinning. Not fun!

Losing too much weight! Help
Runner1 replied to bambi716's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To gain weight you need to eat more carbs, and if you are having trouble getting solids down try liquids with high carbs. Whatever it takes, but you do not want to lose too much because that will cause more problems. There are many high carb, high Protein drinks available or you can make your own. Exercise is also a key to a healthy body. -
It's the reset plan. If you google the 5 day pouch test you will see. I actually order the book from Amazon and it has some recipes that Im going to try too, but get the book. It;s only $5.00 on Amazon.

I too was consuming too many calories. So, I did the 5 day pouch test and am back on track and down 5 lbs. I really works and lets you know that your tool is still functioning. Might want to give it a try.

Low BMI slow losing encouragement welcome!
Runner1 replied to itstimealready's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also started with a low BMI at 35, and have lost 54 lbs in 4 months. I started out working out 5-6 days a week, but had to cut back because of my externship. I actually feel like I am losing faster since I'm working out less. I now workout 2-3 days a week because thats all I can do until the end of the month when I will start back working out more. I am happy with my progress and know that I will reach my goal within the next two months. We are all in a much better place than before we got sleeved. -
Anyone try the Hot Chocolate from Bariatric Pal?
Runner1 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love having hot cocoa in the winter, and the Bariatric Pal hot cocoa is not only delish, but has 15g protein. I also love the fruit drinks that you can put in your water. It is another way to get extra protein in. If you are looking yummy hot cocoa without all the sugar and calories and added protein, then I highly recommend trying it. -
@@byebyefat You can send me a friends request on myfitnesspal and we can share journals. That has helped me a great deal. I agree with everyone else, your surgeon is a jerk. You need to focus on you andnot worry about your surgeon and what he said. Good Luck!

My head is so foggy I can't get my **** together. Help, please?
Runner1 replied to glitterpockets's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So sorry for you loss. Please consider getting some therapy to assist you through the grieving process because you will have a hard time after the surgery. Best to work out all your issues prior to the surgery. Also, on the Vitamins and Protein, I used the MD Vitamin Patches for multivitamins and get the Vitamin D, and Calcium chewables from Amazon.com. I did not have to take an Iron supplement. As for protein, I love the Bluebonnett whey protein with Almond Milk. I order it from Amazon.com as well. The best thing to do is to try different ones prior to your surgery so you can find one that works for your taste buds. Although, after the surgery your tastebuds will more than likely change. I also use the GENEPRO unflavored protein. To me, it has no flavor. I sprinkle in everything. -
@@B-52 What exactly do you put in your shake. Just curious because fruit is not high in Protein and it would take a lot of almond milk to get a great deal more of protein. Do you add Protein powder?

This is my first ever stall and I am 10 weeks post op. I am grateful that I haven't had a stall until now and I am okay with it. I knew at some point I'd have to slow down losing weight. I too started with a low BMI. I have 23 more pounds to reach my goal weight. The key is to think positive thoughts and make good choices. I make sure I get in my protein, water and exercise daily. This is life long journey that I have chosen and now am embracing. I love how I feel and look now and am thankful I was given this wonderful gift to help me become a better healthier me. We've got this!
