    Starting Pre-op Diet

Sandwiches were not discussed in my pre-op diet. Two high protein shakes a day, a Lean Cuisine for dinner, and Crystal Light, sugar-free icy pops, and water.

    Sleep study

I don't know what all the hub-bub is about a sleep study. The worst part of it is getting the lumpy gunk out of your hair where the wires were held in place during the EEG for brain wave activity. Then there's the EKG, which will tell if your heart stopped beating for a second. The sleep study is an indicator for when a person is put under anesthesia to see if they have decreased breathing patterns or stoppage.
  3. I am going to be banded on August 24th.:bolt:
  4. I have chosen to tell only my husband and one coworker. My boss won't even know. To make a long story short, I did this 2 years ago with the Realize Band & had it removed due to a surgery mishap. I had told a few people and they told a few people. I was asked at every turn how much weight had I lost, and blah, blah, blah...
  5. You are fortunate that you got scheduled relatively quickly after your determination letter. I know my surgeon received my letter early last week, and I've yet to hear from them for a schedule.
  6. You never did state what caused her death.
  7. Make no assumptions, call the doctor's office.
  8. Call your insurance company to make sure they will there is a bariatric surgery component to your insurance. They will list out what the BMIs and/or comorbidities should be. I had to do a six month diet program, but I did this through my PCP. I went in every month, got weighed, said I was on the South Beach diet and I was walking. I have Cigna and they were very specific about the PCP information being the "same" every month. Actually, I did seven visits to be on the safe side. I was approved after about 24 days. Just waiting on the surgery center to call me with a date. Good luck. The six months will go by quickly. Diets such as Weight Watcher's and Jenny Craig fall into a gray area. My insurance was that as long as I was also being followed by the PCP or a nutritionist at the same time of my six month diet plan. Hope this info helps.
  9. There came a point after about 2 weeks, that I began calling every day.
  10. Why is your aunt and grandmother wanting to intervene?
  11. I did not lose much weight in my six-month visits to my PCP. Matter-of-fact, the insurance person at the surgical center told me to make sure that I do 7 doctor's visits instead of just 6. I've read on this board that some people have done 6 and did okay. I did do the 7. I do have several comorbidities, and again, didn't lose much weight.
  12. I have not had surgery yet, but anticipate it being scheduled very soon. I plan on not telling anyone at work except 1 coworker. I will tell my boss that I'm having stomach surgery. I would not be lying to her. When I start dropping weight and people ask, I'll tell them it's diet and exercise.
  13. Can you give me reassurance on how long it took for your insurance to approve you for surgery?
  14. Calcium Citrate is better absorbed.
  15. I have told a co-worker that I am close to and my spouse. I may not tell our adult children. I have not had surgery yet, but have been approved, and no surgery date has been set. I look at it being no one else's business...
  16. How long did it take for Cigna to approve your surgery?
  17. How long did it take for Cigna to approve your surgery?
  18. Hello, I have Cigna and I'm now on day 21. I just called and insurance and it's still pending!
  19. Still waiting on insurance approval! Paperwork was submitted to Cigna on June 8. Made a call today and was told it can take up to 30 days. Last week they told me up to 45 days!:scared2: Many congrats to all of you that received your approvals for surgery!
  20. I know some people on the board say they have been approved in two to three days by Cigna. They've had mine to review since June 8! I've called once a week and it's still under review. I have the BMI and comorbidities!
  21. I am waiting on insurance to make their predetermination. My paperwork has been with Cigna for a little over a week now. They are telling me it could take up to 45 days:thumbdown:
  22. I will be hopefully in the next month or two. I live in Kansas City north by Worlds of Fun.
  23. Are there any questions you now have that you wish you would have asked the anesthesiologist at the time of surgery? Did you have any problems with the anesthesia?
  24. I have taken my question down. I will contact insurance.
  25. I have Cigna insurance and will have my 7th visit this week with my PCP (for diet). Just wondering if anyone else is going through Cigna. Hoping to get it submitted next week!
