  1. I was sleeved two days ago and all my stomach keeps doing is gurgling. I haven't had much in fluids like I should, but afraid it will make the gurgling worse if I do. Called the doctor and he said I just need to push fluids and it will slowly work itself out. I felt like a million dollars before I was released yesterday and now I feel like crap. Today was a bad day to say the least. Has anyone got any advice on how to make that go away?? Thanks
  2. I'm finally on the schedule for surgery. So far, it is July 19th that is if my boss doesn't ruin it. She told me last Friday I wasn't a team player nor a respectful person, b/c I am having this surgery during our busiest time of the year and she is gonna be short people. In my opinon that is NOT my fault, but she is making it mine. I have gone thru 2 yrs of trying to get approval and have updated her each and everytime I knew something. I'm having a tough time just getting myself mentally prepared for this surgery let alone have to deal with her on top of it. Anyways, I need some advice.........I haven't got my actual orders of what the doctor requires before hand for me to do ex post op diet, but do know I will be doing one. I would like to know though what kind of things can I buy or have on hand ready for surgery. I know that I have been reading alot about tastes of things changing and not to buy alot of things, but anything I CAN buy that would be ok. I just want to be prepared ahead of time with anything I can be........I'm also scared that I won't be able to do this new way of eating. I'm used to eating whatever. I don't count calories and stuff like that...hoping the dietitian will help me with all that when I see her. Guess over all any advice you can give me would be appreciated....Thanks Tiffykin on the advice you have given me up to this point have read it numerous times and have taken notes:) Tryin to smile telling myself I am doing the right thing even if I am being told I am not a team player.......
  3. Hello all, I am so mad......FINALLY after 2yrs of working on getting approval my boss refuses to let me have the time off. Her reasons are we are to busy during the summer and she won't approve my FMLA for time off. I work at a hospital in a touristy area. I am so ticked off it isn't funny. She said it is a elective surgery and doesnt have to be done NOW or during the summer. I don't know what to do:crying:....I am approved for the sleeve up until April of next year. My ins actually approves you for a year and then if not done I have to go through all this over again. I have been through it 2x now trying to get approval.:smile1:
  4. Thanks for the words of advice everyone. I work in an ER as a Unit Clerk, so my job doesn't require lifting. I supposibly would be able to be back in 2 wks per the doctors office. I'm gonna go to HR again, if nothing is done there then will go to the higher up like the director of nursing and talk to her. I know I will pay for that going above my boss, but this is ridiculous. And they wonder why employees don't like their job sometimes........hmmmmm
  5. I am new and starting the process of lap band surgery. I have MM insurance and was wondering how bad it was to get approved by them. I have read others posts about other insurance companies and it seems some are hard to get approved by and others are not.

Hi Carol, How things going? I get to attend the seminar on Monday at St Luke's. I am actually looking forward to it. What exactly are all the testing you had to go thru? When do you actually start the actual process of getting all this done? What kinds of things can you tell me about how your eating has changed or what you can and can't eat now? Just a few questions thought about lately wanted to ask you if you don't mind. I hope things are doing good for you. Mollie:smile2:

Nice to meet you Carol. I'm not a nurse, but also a Medical Asst. I work at a hospital in Port Clinton as a ER Ward Clerk. Just got moved to FT, which is great. I have worked 5 years as a registration clerk on 3rd shift PT. I will truely miss it and mostly people I work with. But needed a change and wanted FT. I am single, no children. My weight plays a big part in me meeting people. I feel like they do nothing, but stare and that bothers me. Was in a long relationship for 12yrs that ended very hurtful in 2001. Plus had a few other things in life hit me hard, so my self esteem is not very good. I am working on that myself. Each day gets better. I just want to overall feel better for right reasons, but also let it help me meet someone to make me feel inside complete. Someone who appreciates me for ME!!! Not what I look like, what I have, what I drive, where I live, etc. Sad that others judge us just because of how we look mainly. Anyways, sorry rambling on......Sounds like I have alot to go thru yet thanks to Med Mut...oh boy...but I am ready for whatever....I think it is great there are Forums like this, so we can meet others close to our area. Others don't understand unless they have been heavy what life is like for us. Not only physically, but mentally. So to have someone to talk to that is going thru this also makes me feel alot better inside. Glad to hear you are on your way with a good start...I am right behind you...haha......

Turler, Nice to hear from you. My name is Mollie by the way. I put that VOLEMT in there, because I am an EMT and it was short for a user name. Plus didnt want to list my name at first since wasnt familiar with the site. So you are more than welcome to call me by my name if you want. Doesn't matter. I have Medical Mutual Super Med Plus, and I guess that is a requirement of one thing I have to do. I hope it goes FAST!!! I have been looking on and off into it for about a year, but never got past seeing how it was done. I continued to think just dieting would work, but it would for about a week then gained all back. So seriously looking into it now. What kind of ins do you have? Anything you can tell me you learned either from this site or others? It is sooooo nice to have someone close to my area going thru it also. Support helps:)

FINALLY, someone close to my area. I live right outside Oak Harbor. I am just starting the process of having the surgery. I go to a seminar on Feb 11th at St Lukes w/Dr Duckett (whom I am having do my surgery) and then on to the next step. I start my 6 mo required observed diet Monday w/my PCP. Glad to know there are others in my area and am looking forward to chatting with you guys. I have heard nothing but good things about Dr Duckett, so that is a good thing. Others who have had the surgery have had nothing but good things to tell me about it (not all were done by Dr Duckett). I guess I will learn alot more and have alot more questions answered on the 11th. Nice to meet you guys.
  13. I am looking for any doctors anyone would recommend in Northwest Ohio. I am just now looking into the lab band surgery, and want to learn about the doctors of who not to go to or to go to. Any help would be appreciated.

    I was banded yesterday 12/27

Thanks so much for the support. I am a little nervous after reading so many different things on here and other websites. Is there one particular site or whatever you stuck with to learn more about surgery and stuff. Just was wondering. I also joined the obesityhelp.com site. Seems to be more local people on there, but still trying to figure that site out. I really enjoy this one,but find myself getting lost easily and confused.I am so happy for you that things are going good. I will keep continuing to keep you in my prayers.

Hi everyone....I am 32 and live in Northern Ohio. I have also been overweight most of my life. I just started looking into the lap band surgery. So new to alot of this. Any good advice would be great. I want to feel good about myself and feel this is one way to do that. I have let my self esteem get so bad that I am embarrassed to even go out with friends, because I feel everyone looks at us "bigger" people as bad. Tired of that. I give everyone on here credit for the great success they have gotten from their surgeries. Keep up the good work...
  18. I live close to Toledo,so was trying to find out about Dr Duckett. Thanks for your response back
