  1. If your doctor told you to do it then you should do it.. I'm a RN and all my patients, no matter what they come in for, are on a blood thinner unless they are admitted with a bleeding issue or allergic.. You do not want a blood clot, it will put you right back in the hospital and you could possibly have a stroke...
  2. I went back to work after 3 weeks. I was having some pain for my first few shifts and I was pretty week. It wasn't that bad though. Even before my sleeve I never ate a lot at work. And I still don't now. I do drink a lot of calories when I get sleepy which is probably the worst part, but I have to be alert.
  3. Should you have it.. No probably not.. but then again no one should have it.. has no nutritional benefit whether you have a sleeve or a regular stomach. I can drink certain flavors just has to sit in ice for some time and I never drink a full serving.

    Straws?

My doctor said straws can be used after 6 months or 6 weeks for me(my manual is at my house). I haven't tried them yet.
  5. I was pretty depressed and cried every day for almost a week. I am a little over 1 month out now and I am much better.. but I'm still not over everything that I was depressed about.. I just don't cry anymore
  6. If your on a PPI maybe try a stronger dose? I'm not sure on the water enhancers. Maybe try some different teas? Or fruit water? I drink crystal light with no problems. I have been drinking apple juice on top of my PPI daily pre and post surgery. It helps my heartburn a lot. It does have sugar so that's the downside, but I will take a little sugar over terrible heartburn any day. Also Apple vinegar helps.
  7. My largest incision felt very hot to the touch and very painful early out. I just put an ice pad on it and took pain medicine. If the site looks ok and you're not running a temperature it's probably just a normal healing process. But if you have doubts certainly call your surgeon. Try putting ice on it?
  8. Like someone said you will find your own personal limits. My only restriction is milk right now because I became lactose intolerant after surgery. Everything else that I have tried has not made me sick.

    I'm afraid to eat

How are you feeling?..what was your first regular meal? Well I had a good portion of chicken, mac and cheese(maybe 7 elbow noddles with Protein powder sprinkled on them), and green Beans. that was my very first full meat with more than just meat. But for the most part my meal is only meat because I get full quickly.
  10. I am 1 month out and have never met my protein goal. But I am working on new protein items frequently. I will get there in time. Just all trial and error for what works.

    I'm afraid to eat

I was on to regular foods about 2-3 weeks out (with permission from my doc) and have never thrown up. But everyone is different. Good luck!
  12. Saw my APRN from my surgeons office for my 1 month follow up today and she had no problem with me eating fruit as long as I am getting my protein in.

    Carbonated Drinks

I have tried it just a few sips here and there never a whole bottle or can. I normally let it sit in ice for a bit before drinking. If not then I burp a lot but no real discomfort.

    Stalls

I had a stall about 3 weeks out it lasted for about 1 week. I didn't change anything because people say stalls are normal. Happy to be losing again
  15. I am a RN and I returned back to work at 3 weeks with minimal issues. Getting fluids in from the time I clock in to about 3 hours into the shift is the hardest part for me. busy busy busy...
  16. I just think every Doc or NUT does their plans a bit different. I was allowed to have fruit starting in my soft food stage. & also I was allowed to make fruit smoothies to mix with my protein powder. I have not had any issues.
  17. Sleeved on 9/28.. just starting this journey

    Drain tube

I'm a nurse and deal with drains a lot. Are you talking it's clogged as in the tubbing is full? if so just "milk" it to push it through to the holding end of it. if it clogged as in you think it's not draining then yes call the doctor.
  22. @@TXmomcat I go back on Friday. I will keep ya posted! I have to work 3 in a row... nights... It's going to be rough switching back to nights... worried about getting fluids in and stuff also as i barely was able to before surgery... but I am just going to have to learn to take time for myself because my health is just as important.
  23. I'm and RN on a busy for as well and my Doc said 3 weeks because of the weight restriction.

    Feeling depressed today

Sorry to hear about your complication. Have you considered a transplant? I have been doing some research about them.. as they are not common but they are available for some cases.
