    zero weight loss

I know protein is important and everyones bodies are different.. But I rarely get the required amount of protein and have been losing a lot ( not saying it's the right thing to do, just giving an example of someone that is not consuming the right amount)... So I don't know if it is protein for sure. I know you mentioned you were perfectly healthy prior to surgery... Maybe you have developed something new? Some diagnoses make you gain weight and maybe it is impeding your weight loss, like hypothyroidism? I would certainly get it checked out. Good luck to you!
  3. little over 3 months out and down 63 pounds

    Lactose intolerance post-op

I was lactose intolerant until 3 months out. But only like straight milk, yogurt, and premier shakes. I can consume them now with no issues. I never had a problem with cheese though.. which was odd. I did drink lactaid during my lactose intolerance stage.
  5. Denisa, we were in the same boat! I was lactose intolerant after surgery.. but now 3 months out I am back to normal with that.. thank goodness! I am not a big fish eater either but I do like tuna.. and chicken salad is similar to the consistency and is moistened.. maybe you can try that? As far as sipping with meals.. my surgeon said it wasn't a issue, just don't drink a whole cup. Now I have attempted to eat cereal... like milk and all but it doesn't work out too well after a few bites. Just hang in there! Things will get better with your eating.. I still have issues with food feeling stuck at times but I am used to the discomfort now so it doesn't bother me as much.
  6. I have not had one.. but I am a RN and have had plenty of patients with elevated D-dimers.. but I have had people get put on a blood thinner drip or some just get sent home... all by the MD orders will follow ups of course.

    Drinking your liquids

I am 3 months out and can swallow larger amounts of fluid(started about 6 weeks out maybe? for me)
  8. There are other forms or protein you can drink aside from shakes... but they are not a meal substitute.. like isopure or the new whey protein shots.. Neither of them taste very good to me, but maybe you can tolerate them.
  9. maybe try a pill? http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/lactaid-fast-act-lactase-enzyme-supplement-caplets-vanilla/ID=prod1418534-product?ext=gooMedicines_ampersand_Treatments_PLA_Lactose_Intolerance_prod1418534_pla&adtype=pla&kpid=sku1418524&sst=7d7ac26a-2bd4-1ac8-6271-00004a80eee7
  10. You will be fine! I have had many bites of this or bites of that and it has not affected me negatively... having bites here and there and eating a whole slice of pie are totally different. A bite usually satisfies my craving and I move on back to my diet plan.

    Heartburn

I had severe heartburn before surgery... I had a hernia also... when I got my sleeve I got my hernia repaired. I probably had heartburn up to a couple weeks after surgery. Even if I don't take my omeprazole for a week I no longer have heart burn ! But everyone is different.
  12. I was very depressed post surgery. I would utilize the supportive friends and family around you. Maybe your doctors office if you like them? You can always see a therapist as well.

    So disappointed :(

Maybe those people had desk jobs? I couldn't have imagined going to work after only 1 week.. I took 3 weeks off. I felt pretty crappy when I was first sleeved too and it does get better... there is no turning back so the only thing you can do is keeping moving forward anyways. You can do it!
  15. Fluids, walking and pain management.

    Juice drinks....

I can't tolerate lemonade post-sleeve. But I can drink orange juice.
  17. I was sleeved September of this year and I wasn't able to drink premier shakes or milk(prior to surgery I could drink both). I hope it changes so I can drink them too.. Have never hit my Protein goal since surgery Now that you are three months out, you should be able to get protein from lots of other sources besides shakes and milk. You should be able to eat solid foods now, which means meat, Beans, nuts.... There are also lactose-free protein supplements if the surgery has made you lactose intolerant.... No reason not to be meeting your minimum protein requirement by now. Well what I "should" be able to do and CAN do are totally different. (My MD is aware) thanks!

    Food question

Try taking and anti nausea pill before? Maybe you can get some things to coat your stomach like sucralfate from your doctor? But trial and error was the best thing I could do.. It just takes time. But you will get there!
