What's the longest period of time you were "stalled" ?
jembell01 replied to Susan66's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the dreaded 3rd week stall I think. It's been a few days since I've lost any weight. I'm upping my protein and fluids...hopefully that will help! -
Big Sleeve vs. Small Sleeve
jembell01 replied to kondasa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When my dr came in prior to my operation, I said, "Make it small Doc"! He said he made it as small as he could, but I'm sure he was just messing with me.....but maybe not. I assumed it's based on your anatomy and what can and can't be done while they are in there operating. I could be wrong and maybe he did make it as small as he could -

"....wasting away"
jembell01 replied to southernbelle256's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5'0 and the smallest I've been in my "adult" years is about 165 ish...I'm 30 lbs from that now at 196, but getting too thin was a concern of mine and my husbands also. He met me at 180 ish and likes me with some meat on my bones, so to speak. I think at our heights, a healthy weight for us is 115-130 ish. I can't imagine being that small either... As for others saying your wasting away, I think it's because they are used to seeing you at a certain size, so of course, the smaller you get, the more you will seem too small. They will just have to get used to the new you! -
1 pound 2 ounces cost me $9,000 Seriously

Sent your receipts in to Aetna for a claim. Insurance will reimburse you or they should at least give you back some of your money -
3 weeks Out, 1000 calories?
jembell01 replied to Meechymom87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost two weeks out and can barely get 400 calories in per day. Those are protein shakes and chicken broth...I get about 50g of protein in per day, but I haven't gotten over 400 calories yet ???? -

Any December 29th Sleevers?
jembell01 replied to fatchick84's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@ckcford I am now 9 days post op. I regretted it from day 1 until about day 4. Not so much from the pain of surgery, but from the constant nausea. Once I switched to phenegran suppositories, my life changed lol I was able to sleep and not wake up constantly dry heaving. I am 18 lbs down from my HW and 14lbs down since surgery. I do NOT regret it. -
I'm also 7 days out and get pains, a cross between heartburn and gas, in the same spot that is debilitating for like 10 seconds. It happens every evening when I lie down for bed. I figured it was gas or just my positioning...it's weird though

Parents of young children - what are you telling your kids about surgery?
jembell01 replied to walkinggirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told my kids. They are 8 & 12. I wanted them to be aware of the changes and be able to understand what was happening. They were pretty cool with it. We had discussions about it prior. It mainly consisted of, " Mommy, we think you are beautiful like you are" & "will you still be soft for us to lay our head on?" ???? -
thank you Jane!!

Morning!!! I am officially 1 week out from surgery and this morning I entered the 100's again! I haven't seen that in a while! It's not huge, but recently, I could only lose like 5 lbs and then I'd gain 7....today, 199! 18 lbs gone!

I have Aetna. Did the 3 month multi-disciplinary requirements. Approved 4 days after my dr office submitted to insurance. No issues at all. I had no net weight gain during the 3 month period and was over 41BMI at the beginning.

Just wondering if anyone had or is having issues with this. Came home from the hospital and my uvula (hangy down thing at back of throat) is red, swollen about 3 times normal size and is resting on my tongue. Sometimes it "falls" down my throat and gags me so badly I end up throwing up. Dr said that if it doesn't get better, to get a strep test. I had surgery on the 29th and yesterday, the 31st, it started turning white about halfway down at the bottom. Not as huge, but still gagging me. Anyone else experience this? ????

Swollen and elongated uvula?

Swollen and elongated uvula?
jembell01 replied to jembell01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Omg! It is the worst feeling ever. It's like I have something that I need to spit out. It gags me all the time. I can't talk without it getting in the way and choking me. It's the worst. I'd be okay if it weren't for that stupid hangy down thing ???? -
I was sleeved on the 29th too and experienced the same things you are experiencing. Still can't get all of my fluids in. I'm just focusing on sipping sugar free apple juice mixed with water, chicken broth, & sugar free Popsicles. My urine is clear, so I suppose I'm ok. Husband is going to pick up some protein water tomorrow so I can try to up my protein intake. Gas comes and goes, but walking and warm showers help. Hope you feel better soon!

Sleeved on 12/28
jembell01 replied to courtcourt90's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not exactly sure how much fluid I'm taking in. I'm peeing and it's clear so I hope that means I'm staying hydrated. Chicken broth and SfF Popsicles have been my savior. -

Any December 29th Sleevers?
jembell01 replied to fatchick84's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Feeling better today. Have gotten NO protein down, but am sipping water and sugar free apple juice which tastes amazing. Haven't needed much pain medication today, but the incisions burn a bit. Feeling ok. -
So I had the sleeve yesterday and have felt horrible ever since. Nausea, has pains, etc. I've been walking, sipping as much water as possible, but nothing seems to help me feel better. Taken my zofran, pain meds, but those aren't helping either. Having some serious regrets ????

Any December 29th Sleevers?
jembell01 replied to fatchick84's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery ended up being at 12 today. I had and still have lots a trapped gas. Been walking and it's helping a bit, but that is the majority of my pain. The pain med I have is making me super nauseous and the zofran that is suppose to dissolve under my tongue isn't dissolving very well and is making my nauseous. Husband is snoring like a crazy person ???? All in all, I feel ok -
Been at the hospital since 7:45 & still just waiting to go back to preop. I could use a Xanax or Valium to chill me out a bit ...did all of the paperwork and am in the surgical waiting area...

Tick, tock.. surgery in the morning
jembell01 replied to MNSkolGal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to be at the hospital in 3 1/2 hours too! We can do this. I'm anxious too, but am ready to take back my life and not be buried under this weight. Prayers for peace and a smooth surgery for you and the others having surgery today.
