Protein Shakes - Is it just a american thing?

Hi All, Does anyone out there use Protein shakes? I have 8ml in a 14ml band and not loosing a bean at the moment (Band put in 03/01/08). Reading through some of the thread's it appears that a lot of people use Protein Shakes.... Do any of you use protein shakes? What do they taste like? Do they work? What's the best one? Thanks for any help anyone can give Caroline -

I wish it was that easy in the UK. Optifast etc are just not available here. -
