    April Exercise Challenge

Why do you keep doing this to me? In case you were unaware, police officers are very sick people. After 16 yrs in the security/police profession, I am converted and beyond hope. We can find dirty meaning in almost anything. You just keep setting me up here. GG and luluc, great jobs. Keep up the good work!

    April Exercise Challenge

Ok, this morning was a little tough to get going. Got to gym, and Cardio Cinema was down:frown:. So, I had to go in the normal cardio area and only got 45 minutes in today for 3.62 miles and 735 calories. Tonight is the end of the 3 wk cycle for upper body, meaning 12 reps per exercise per circuit. This is the one that kicks my a$$ the most. 8 exercises, 12 reps, 3 cycles. I'll be sweating bullets by 6 pm.

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

I'm sorry, but if you were here in person, I would have soooooo much to say about that one comment alone. I think you may owe my dept a new monitor after I just spit water all over mine.

    April Exercise Challenge

Sorry, no workout police, just lots of encouragement from those on here. As for me, as I said yesterday, last night was lower body circuit training. This morning, I had a chiro appt, so I was able to get extra cardio in. Did 65 minutes on elliptical for 5.33 miles and 1085 calories. Then, did another 65 on the elliptical doing interval training. Did 5.44 miles and 1150 calories. Sweating bullets the whole time.

daddy-you are looking good, man! Keep up the great work. Stef-no need to apologize. As long as you can back it up, it ain't bragging. And, from the pics I saw, you girl can back it up!

This morning was back on elliptical for 65 minutes, 1103 calories and 5.36 miles. Back in tonight for lower body and 11 rep circuits. Hope all is going well for you guys and your workout goals so far.

    Question??!!??

As for the carbonation issue, I personally can drink beer. I have not had any problems or discomfort. However, as some have pointed out with the soda, I choose not to drink beer too often (as in, none in 2 mos.) as it is empty calories.

    March Exercise Challenge

Jess, ultimately it is our bodies. The dr's and pa's can't order us to do anything. I wish I had been thinking a little more clearly on Thur. I would not have had an adjustment. I think this pa tends to forget about all the exercise I do each week and that I need the extra calories. I think she tries to pigeon hole me in with others that try to do it on diet alone. Obviously, none of us in this thread think like that.:crying: Oh well, my original pa is back at the end of April from maternity leave. I'm going to try to get back with her. She understood what I was doing and didn't seem to believe there was a schedule to go by on the adjustments.

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Ok, so last Friday I went home after working from 0600 to 1400, hopped on my new bike and road over to the gym. Took the short way there (1.75 miles) and long way back (3.75 miles). Did the same thing on Saturday. Sunday, went long way both to and from. Considering I did 2 hrs, 10 minutes on elliptical on Sat and Sun., I would say that was great exercise. I was completely exhausted both nights. Gotta say, I LOVE my bike. Handles hills great. Only problem is, I've found a nerve in a very tender area from the seat a couple of times going over bumps. Oh well, I'll get used to it and build up callouses (sp).:crying:

    March Exercise Challenge

Happy Monday everyone! Here's my update for this weekend: Friday, worked 0600-1400, went home, hopped on the new bike and road over to the gym the short way-1.75 miles. Did my lower body workout and 65 minutes on elliptical for 5.35 miles and 1105 calories. Road the long way home for 3.75 miles on the bike. Total of 5.5 miles on the bike. Saturday, had to wait until DW got home from the office, road the short way to the gym. Did 2 hrs, 10 min on the elliptical for 2200 calories and 10.68 miles. Long way home again. Sunday, went after church, road long way to and from. 2 hrs, 10 min on elliptical for 10.5 miles and 2130 calories. Wiped out completely. Question for you guys. I had my monthly appt last Thur and the PA did another adjustment on my band even though I lost 7.5 lbs last month and told her I still had pretty good restriction from my initial adjustment the month before. This time she added more than the last time. Is that normal? Also, have you guys ever had the adjustments and resulting swelling make it difficult to do cardio. I forced myself through it, but it was difficult yesterday. Just wondering. Oh, and I know I have control over the adjustments, just was stunned and didn't think she would add 3 cc's this time when she only did 2 the prior month.

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Thanks Juli, I really liked the little ride I took on it last night. Real smooth and easy to ride. However, I had to be shown how to shift the gears. I don't know if yours is set up the same way, but the gear shifters are different from what I remember from my old 10 spd from 20 yrs ago. For an abbreviation, how about CD?

Thanks babygrl, btwn this one and the monthly exercise threads with Stef, I will have plenty of motivation to keep going.
  16. Excuse my french, but HELL NO! I don't regret my decision one bit. I'm down over 100 lbs in 7 mos. I can eat any foods I want, only smaller portions. I watch what I eat more than ever before and it's working. I exercise more than ever before. I used to just lift and maybe about 20 minutes of cardio. Now, I do cardio EVERY morning and lift 4 nights a week. Only, I do circuit training now with lifting. As for the impostor part, I see it as someone who is still pre op. I told very few people until right before the surgery. As it got closer and after surgery, I've told anyone who will listen. I don't care if they think I "took the easy way out". I have not had anyone tell me that to my face, but I would just invite them to the gym with me for one week and to try out my workouts. Most "fit" people couldn't hang with me for one full week.

    Exercise frequency

I am in the gym every day for cardio. On days I work, I do anywhere from 50 to 65 minutes. On days I'm off, I do somewhere btwn 2 and 2 1/2 hrs depending on how I'm feeling. 4 nights a week, I go back in to lift. I do circuit training mainly with freeweights. I could have lost alot more weight if I was not lifting so frequently or as much weight. I just feel better when I lift. I don't go overly heavy, compared to before, but I do make sure I am challenged.

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Hi everyone, I'm new to this thread for posting, but have been reading up little by little. Stef can attest to my exercising, but I just decided w/i the past month to try for a sprint triathlon by the end of the summer. So, I decided I needed a good road/fitness bike. Found one at a local bike shop chain. Picked it up yesterday and did a quick 2 mile ride after working out last night. Could have done much more, but it was in the upper 30's and I was in shorts and no gloves. Anyway, here is a pic of my new bike: Closeout and the last one they had in their entire chain in XL for me as I am 6'3". It is perfect. I have a guy on my softball team that is going to go on rides with me. Already planning a 50 mile roundtrip in a couple of weeks when it starts to really warm up. Thanks for the great motivation and advice to each other on bikes. I did alot of research on what I read on here. I'll keep you all posted on how it is coming with the riding.

    March Exercise Challenge

Sorry, off on Wed and SWAT training yesterday. Then, off to monthly appt. So...Wed., I did 2 hrs 10 minutes of cardio. Breakdown was: 65 min. in elliptical for 1105 calories/5.38 miles. Treadmill for 40 minutes (ran 1.85 miles @ 5.5 mph/1% incline, walked .25 mile @ 4 mph/1% incl, ran 1 mile @ 5.5/0 incl, walked .42 mile @ 4 mph/2% incl) for 700 calories and 3.52 miles. Another 25 minutes on elliptical for 2.1 miles and 430 calories Totals-11 miles and 2130 calories. Thur. morning was 65 minutes on elliptical for 1110 calories and 5.38 miles. Last night, upper body workout w/10 reps per exercise. Feeling a little sluggish on weightlifting. Don't think I am getting enough Protein. Going to get some Muscle Milk today after work before doing legs and cardio as I am working early day shift today. Sidenote: (Stef, you'll love this one) I stopped off at a local bike shop on Wed. They stopped carrying Giant bikes last year and had a closeout on them. The one I wanted was normally btwn $500-600. closeout was for less than $400. They only had one in their entire system that was in my size left. It was put on a truck and at the store I went to by yesterday. Lucked out. Here is a pic of my new bike: Considered a fitness bike, so I can do my sprint triathlons on it. Took it for a quick 2 mile ride as soon as I got home from working out. Could have done much more, but it was only in the upper 30's and I was in shorts and no gloves. Already got a riding partner from my softball team. He is more into it and wants to do a 50 mile roundtrip trail when it gets warm, so I'm going to have to get going on training for it.

    March Exercise Challenge

Ok, upper body last night. Went decently. Reps were 9 for each exercise, so it is switching from strength only to endurance as well. This morning was another 65 minutes on the elliptical for 5.38 miles and 1105 calories. Back in tonight for lower body. Still looking for a decent road bike so I can start off with biking outdoors as soon as the snow melts and it gets a little warmer.

Hi everyone. Glad to see everyone back again. I got a little lonely last Friday on here. Friday afternoon I did both lower body and cardio at the same time. Saturday morning I went in and did 2 hrs on the elliptical for 2100 calories and 10.5 miles. Sunday, because of Easter, no workout. This morning I did 65 minutes on the elliptical again for 5.35 miles and 1100 calories. Upper body tonight. Stef, sorry to hear about the diabetes. You're right, that's messed up.
  23. Ok, strange title, but here is the explanation for it. I've noticed ALOT of big numbers coming from Aug of '07 bandsters, including mine. Seriously, it seems to be disproportionate compared to others on the forum. Or am I imagining things? Either way, GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!!! Keep up the good work.

    March Exercise Challenge

Where'd everybody go? I'm off work for 2 days and this thread kind of dies. So, Tuesday night I did my leg workout, still feeling it. Wednesday, non lifting day and off from work, so here is what I did: Swim-6 laps Bike-55 minutes for 16.5 miles and 747 calories. Treadmill-Ran 3.1 miles straight, then walked .7 miles in 45 minutes. Total-3.8 miles and 755 calories. Elliptical-35 minutes for 2.7 miles and 552 calories. Thursday, upper body again followed by 65 minutes on elliptical for 5.22 miles and 1080 calories. Working the early day shift today, so I will get both workouts in this afternoon. I was going to get up early to walk my dog, but it's snowing again :success1:, so no go there.

Thanks Stef. By the time I got home, DD was doing better. Sounds like DW is going to keep her from daycare this morning and then drop her off at kindergarten this afternoon. Seems like it was only a 24 hr bug, thank goodness. Got my cardio in this morning. 65 minutes on elliptical for 5.26 miles and 1087 calories. Lower body this evening.
