Exactly. Like I said, when you are reading instead of listening, it is easy to insert your own emotions into it. And that may not be what the writer intended.

If you do a search of my posts, you will see that I never label fat people as "lesser" people.

Actually, I only take Protein drinks during the day and a pre workout drink that gets your blood pumping. Unfortunately, and I found this out the hard way yesterday, I forgot you are not supposed to take the pre workout drink with any protein in your system for at least 3 hrs. If you do, it has the complete opposite effect on your body. Of course, I did not figure this out until my 2nd circuit. Until then, I just thought I was getting weaker.

As I can be a tad defensive when I feel I am being attacked unfairly, and when you are reading the written word you cannot infer any tones that you can from speech patterns, I am going trying to fight off the compulsion to be nasty here. Plus, it's been one of those weeks already. That being said, when someone uses quotation marks, " ", around a word, they do not mean the literal version of that word. I mean people who consider themselves "normal". Not recovering fathletes like myself.
-
Last night was upper body and cardio. I messed up my supplements pre workout and felt really WEAK. I managed to sludge my way through my 3 circuits of 12 reps, but it was tougher than it should have been. Cardio last night was 35 minutes. This morning was 55 minutes of cardio. Tonight will be legs. Hopefully it will go better than last night. I know better than to screw up the way I did last night.
-
I know, but sometimes I feel bad. I feel like I am starting to think like "normal" people have always thought about me. The only difference is, I have tried to help out others by giving them my experiences and what I have learned since I started this journey. I guess if they aren't willing to take my lessons learned the hard way, there is nothing I can do. At least I know what they are struggling with. Unlike "normal" people who judge w/o ever having gone through this addiction. Btw plain, looks like you and I started at the same measurements and are shooting for about the same goal. I think we may have discussed this in the past on other threads. Great job so far. Keep up the great work.

Congrats Short1! You are 2 wks ahead of me. Looks like you are right on plan and doing GREAT! Keep up the great work.

Yesterday: 3.75 mile bike ride to the gym. 35 minutes on treadmill-ran 5k in just under 30 minutes + cooldown 35 minutes on elliptical. 3.75 mile bike ride home. Slept in this morning. Tonight will be both cardio and upper body workout.

Chris-sorry to hear about the accident. I hope you will be able to recover quickly. However, if not, like you said don't risk it. Not worth it. Great to know you dr was and is behind you on this. Amazing the change in what was ailing beforehand, isn't it?

August 2007 Bandsters still on their journey
Ceradad replied to LadyBugRed's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm still around, just not in here too much. I'm at my original long term goal of 250. Early on in the journey I changed it to 240. Was hoping to make it by my bandiversary, but that is in less than 2 wks. Just don't see it happening. Oh well, I'll take what I've accomplished. Good to see everyone having so much success. -
Just for an update, the photoshoot is going to happen on Wed, August 27. It will be myself and a couple that apparently had this done together. Seperate shoots, but we're all involved in this. Also, I was asked to do a poster for Park Nicollet Clinics for the LapBand. It will be me standing in the fore ground with DW and DD and my "care team" standing behind. What do you, I'm going to be a poster boy for something!

So, I get a call the other day from Park Nicollet Clinics Bariatric clinic. The lady tells me they are in a partnership with the state of MN, a local paper and local tv channel for an ad campaign starting in October to endorse getting healthy. They wanted to do a write up on some of the success stories for lap band in the Twin Cities. She then tells me my name was the first to come up as one of their "Star" patients and would make a good story. They ask me if I would be willing to do a phone interview with a reporter or two for about an hour and maybe have my pic taken for an article or two. Well, you could have knocked me over with a feather. While I know I have been doing very well with the lb and my exercise, it's nice to hear your doctors office giving out respect as well. Of course, I agreed to it. I want to educate as many people as possible. Marketing person calls me back to verify that I am good to go and sets up appt. for interview for yesterday at 3. I was on the phone for almost an hour discussing everything that I have accomplished so far. Even did some history on me to give everyone an idea of what I went through before and after. I even put a plug in for LBT, hope it gets in the article as this place has been a HUGE resource for me. I'll see the article beforehand and will get a chance to make some revisions if needed. If LBT does not get in, I will make sure to put it in. Once the article comes out, I'll post it in the Magazine section. Just thought I would share this as I am looking forward to seeing some positive media attention given to the LB instead of all the negative stuff that gets said. More on this later.

Last night: Leg workout followed by 65 minutes on elliptical. This morning: 65 minutes on elliptical-36 minutes of straight, 24 minutes of interval and 5 minute cooldown. As I only have one week left on this lifting cycle, figured I'd post the weights I've been doing this cycle. Each time I lift is 3 circuits. I start off week one with 7 reps then increase the reps by 1 each week. Upper body and legs are done twice a week. Upper body: TBar row: 75 x 7-12 Bench: 215 x 7-12 Decline bench: 165 x 7-12 DB curls: 35 x 7-12 Skull crushers: 85 x 7-12 Machine ab crunch: 85 x 7-12 Hammer Strength military press: 70 x 7-12 each arm Roman chair w/db: 75 x 7-12 BB shrug: 215 x 7-12 Legs: Leg press: 750 x 7-12 Calf raise on L.P.: 750 x 7-12 Seated leg curl: 220 x 7-12 Seated leg ext: 240 x 7-12 Abductor: 150 x 14 Adductor: 150 x 14 Cable high chop: 40 x 15.

Funny you should mention this Jachut. In the past couple of weeks I have started feeling like a hypocrite of sorts. While I understand still what it is like to be fat, and will probably consider myself always a "fathlete", I do get annoyed with people around me that talk the talk about wanting to lose weight, but aren't willing to make any changes of any kind. But then, I come on here and find people that have had the same surgery as I have, and complain about not losing any weight and the band is not doing it's job. They put themselves through the pain and anxiety of a surgery and are unwilling to see that it has to be a lifestyle. It is not a cure all. I wonder which is worse. On one hand, you have people that realize they needed to do something to regain their health. But are unwilling to make the changes in their life to do so. On the other, you have people that talk about needing to make changes, but aren't willing to do anything about it. Honestly, I think these same people would take an axe, a bulldozer and a hammer into the middle of a forest and tell those tools to clear the land and build them a home. Same principle. They want the outcome w/o the work. And, luluc, I would love to have a beer with a real football fan from Dallas, TX. Like I said, if I get down there this year, I'll let you know.
-
But, like you said, you are doing something. That is the most important aspect. If someone posts they have plateau'ed and just don't know why even though they are still exercising and watching what they eat, then I can "listen". When they tell everyone they are eating all they want and don't do any exercise, those are the ones I've lost all patience for. And, Jaime, just tell anyone who tells you you are losing too fast that it is better than gaining too fast.

:tt1::lol::lol: Ok, now I normally don't "get" Ellen, but that is too funny. Also, is it just the perv in me, or does that look more like a sex toy? Probably the former, huh?
-
Great job JaimeSTL. That is all it takes. In no way would I ever expect most people to go like I do. I'm not being arrogant, just I've been involved in athletics in some way all my life. I'm used to lifting weights and doing some cardio. But, it is important to do something and by your losing 90 lbs in just under 6 mos, you obviously have done GREAT! Keep it up.
-
luluc, if I get down to Dallas this year or next for a Cowboys game, I will take you up on your offer. Not so much to see if I can hang with you. More to say I worked out with a hottie that hung with the Baylor football players.:tt1: But, you are correct, they don't want advice, they seem to want sympathy. People seem to want to play the victim, some thrive on it. They were always the "fat" person that everyone picked on. Then, they finally decided to do something and noone supported them. Now, they have this "cure all" tool and it just doesn't work for them. They want to be the martyr in everything they do. I'm tired of it. I got fed up listening to friends and co workers ripping on me for being "big". I decided to do something about it. Then, I decided if I was going to have the surgery, I was going to make the changes needed to make it work properly. I, in no way, eat the proper foods at all times. Heck, last night for our anniversary, we went out to Applebee's (I know, I know, we splurged for fine dining there, huh?). Kind of hard to eat right there. And I didn't. I just didn't eat as much as I would have pre surgery. And, I exercise-ALOT. So, I guess I should just stop reading all those "whoa is me" threads and do like luluc/hottie (I keep that up and luluc's hubbie won't let me near the state of Texas, let alone workout with her) and stay in the exercise/fitness area and a couple others.

Last night-35 minutes on elliptical. Tonight will be both legs and cardio.
-
This morning I was planning on doing both upper body and cardio. But, upper body took longer than anticipated due to a couple of conversations and no cardio was done. I'm going to try to get in after work for about 30-40 minutes on elliptical. On a sidenote, today is DW and my 15th anniversary! Seems like just yesterday we started dating.
-
Wow, working out with college football players, golfing with hockey players and a cop. You are really starting to become a groupie aren't you?:crying: Keep up the great work. As for me, last night was legs and it kicked my arse. This morning was interval training on elliptical for 55 minutes. No workout tonight, day off from lifting.

Anna-couldn't agree more with you about PNC. Their bariatric clinic is top notch. I had my surgery with Dr. Jones almost 1 yr ago and have had nothing but great things to say about them.
