True mrboswell. And remember, when you start to rationalize not going in to work out (and we all know we hit that point) make sure to push through it. I've decided to give myself 1 week off after every 6 wk cycle. Makes it alot easier to keep at it.

Last night: did not get into gym as promised due to the snow. Took me over 2 hrs just to get to my truck at the park and ride. This morning: got up at 0430 and hit the driveway. Shoveled DW's side (I don't care too much as I have a SUV). Then, went to the gym to get my running shoes and headed into work to avoid the majority of traffic. Hit the fitness center upstairs for 40 minutes on the treadmill. Ran a 5k in less than 30 minutes and then just finished it out easy. Tonight will be my delayed upper body workout. Jachut, I have something at my gym that makes cardio better for me. They have a DVD player hooked up to a projector that plays on a screen about 1/3 the size of a normal movie theater screen. As I love movies, this is perfect for me. Only drawback is when they get on a "chick flick" kick. I can tolerate one or two, but when they do 3 or 4 in a row, that sucks.

Last one for the day: Just wanted to note that I finally tried the apples and peanut butter thing.:w00t::cool2::w00t: Phenomenal! I cannot believe I have not tried this before. I had 4 from Thursday until yesterday. I think I could eat this all day every day. Whoever came up with this combination should be put in the food hall of fame. Now, I'm off to torture my body at the gym.

As a fellow right leaning voter, you are going straight to hell for even insinuating Al Gore is right about anything.:cool2::wink_smile:
-
Gotcha. Plus, we are supposed to get up to 5" tonight. May be a really bad morning tomorrow morning.
-
Heck no. We get nice and warm and humid. Last summer we even hit 79.
-
Sorry, forgot about that. My short term memory disfunction kicked in again.
-
Who do you think you are, Peter Pan?
-
Couldn't agree more with you ccl. I HATE cardio, but I do it because I have to. I like how lulu puts it, I have to do cardio so I can eat some of the foods I like to.
-
I've shoveled a little this year. But, I do live in Minnesota so that is not a foreign concept tap.
-
PJTP-how can some of you be crying about how cold it is? It was 0 here yesterday. We only have about 3" of snow, but the cold is the worst. Lulu, no offense, but your G-men have to lose 2 straight this week.
-
Sorry lulu, I just saw this. They become part of the family so quickly. The loss of one is hard to take. My GSD will be 9 in April so I am starting to gear myself up for this eventuality.

'Bout damn time.:biggrin::biggrin:

Great job everyone! Keep it up. As for me, no workout yesterday. I was going to try to get in for 35 minutes on treadmill, but Saturday night we went out for a friends b-day and it went later than anticipated. Then, up early to volunteer at church. Today, 45 minutes on treadmill this morning and back in for upper body tonight and a little more cardio. Jachut, great to see you here. Been wondering when you would fall under the power of lifting. Circuit training is great. I do a 6 wk cycle that increases the reps each week. Works for strength early on in the cycle and then switches over to endurance.
-
Sorry mrboswell, off last week. Hope your first week went well. Like mike said, listen to your body and let it get accustomed to working out again.
-
Understood Donna. All I ask is for people to not simply say they do not respect all police officers. You don't have to like us, but you should respect the job we do for you and your family. And, I understand about not all officers being good. But, that is the case in every profession. I'm sure you can think of someone in your office/job that is not what you would wish for a co worker. No hard feelings.

Another day of workouts down. 40 minutes of leg workout followed up by another 100 minutes of cardio (35 minutes on elliptical, 15 minutes on treadmill, 35 minutes on elliptical, 15 minutes on treadmill) 1800 calories burned doing cardio. Sidenote: Why do women insist on pouring on perfume before hitting the cardio equipment? You are supposed to stink in the gym. It's ok to stink in the gym. When you bathe in perfume prior to working out, it is almost as bad as a smoker getting on the elliptical next to me after just burning one.
-
As does lulu I believe. That's ok, there is still enough of me to go around.
-
Need a few more of those.:tongue2:

Oh no, you aren't going to get me to go off on another rant. I'm off my soapbox for the night. I'm too afraid of heights to go back up there. Beth-thanks. I knew I could count on you for support. Btw, did I miss your response as to who your favorite football team is? Also, I started watching Band of Brothers on DVD again today. I love this series. Shows what a group of guys will do for each other.

Ok, I'm off work the rest of the week and just saw this one. Got a few issues with it overall. #1-To say you would have gone into it saying "not guilty" is not really a good idea. Traffic tickets are for a purpose. If you are speeding, you are breaking the law, no if's, and's or but's about it. If you had a loved one killed by a speeder that had been cited 10 times, you would most likely be all over the police for not getting this person off the streets. Of course, in reality, it is the court system that does not do enough. And then, you add in the fact there are people that will say, "I don't believe in traffic tickets, and I'm on the jury, Not Guilty". #2-Much better use for cops. Are you kidding. Not many police officers simply spend their entire shifts sitting in wait to catch the rare speeder. Alot of tickets happen as the officer is on patrol and happens to catch someone going well over the speed limit. Plus, as mentioned in #1, if you are speeding, you are breaking the law. Therefore, the argument that police need to be catching "real criminals" has no merit as they have caught a criminal. Speed limits are set for a reason. And, guess what, the police did not set it. It is for your, and your loved ones, safety. They are not arbitrary either. Alot of studies go in to them to find the safest speed for certain areas/environments. #3-Just because you get off from your tickets with warnings and your husband gets pulled over all the time means nothing. Maybe your husband is speeding alot faster than you are. Maybe he isn't telling you the truth. Maybe you happen to keep finding the officers that are at the end of their shift, being called away to a domestic, or is just having a really good day. It is called discretion. And traffic tickets are one of the few areas left that has not been touched. But, trust me, it is going to happen. #4-And this is a BIGGIE for me, "so I have no respect for traffick cops". You want to see me go ape sh*t big time? Say that one to my face. Unless you have the guts to put your life on the line every time you do any part of your job, do not EVER say you have no respect for police officers.:tongue2: Every time an officer approaches a vehicle on a stop, they are putting their lives on the line. They do it for you, for me, for your loved ones and your worst enemies. They do not know what is going to happen every time they step out of their vehicle. Maybe the person is wanted for murder and has a semi auto handgun just underneath the seat that will come up as soon as the officer is close enough. Maybe, some drunk idiot will decide at that moment to lose control of their car and side swipe the officer and continue driving off. Maybe, they will find out the person in the passenger seat is in serious trouble and decides they will attack the officer and 2 or more passengers will go for their gun. Don't believe me, go to youtube or simply google and you will find hundreds, most likely thousands, of videos of these scenarios. And, many more. Unless you have to put on protective equipment just to be able to survive your job, NEVER say you do not respect police officers. You can say you do not like them, but you have to respect the job they do for you and your family. Now, alot of you on here know me. You know I do not ever go off like this. I had to get this off my chest, it is one of my big flashpoints. Alot of you know I am a police officer and I am a little biased on this. I'm just tired of a society that attacks the people that are there to protect them and are willing to lump all of us in with the bad apples. All jobs have bad apples. I'm done. For now.

Alright, more noobs. Gotta love it. Your enthusiasm should help keep us going. As for me, Tuesday night I hit the gym for 40 minutes of leg workout. Followed up with 35 minutes on elliptical. Yesterday, went on DD's class trip to see "The Shoemaker and the Elves". Kids had a blast. I was about the only dad there, kinda like here. I liked it.:cool2: Didn't get into gym as I had to run errands afterwards and DD had swim class last night. Today, 45 minute upper body workout. Still rolling along and getting stronger as the workouts go along. Followed that up with 100 minutes of cardio. 35 minutes on elliptical, 15 minute run on treadmill, 35 minutes on elliptical and 15 minutes on treadmill. Gotta increase the cardio again. Weight has been creeping up over the last few months. Can't let it slip too much. Have an appt with PA for a fill next month. Will just have to work it off until then.:whatchutalkingabout Good to see the new faces. Keep up the great work everyone.

Susan, great to hear. Keep the tracking going and that may help you figure it out on your own. At least it will give the dr and nutritionist something to work with. Now, let's see, Beth are you from Virginia? You are a Redskins fan, are you? Cuz that would be worse than a Gnats fan that hides out in Cowboys country pretending to be a real football fan.:cursing:
-
Well, I didn't realize we were talking about one of those circumstances.:cursing:
-
:cursing::scared2::scared2: Then you may count me as NOT a real man. There are just some things I will not do. Haven't found any yet, but I'm willing to bet that is one.
