Is it really worth it?
Waler replied to BrightEyes42's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try to focus on the big picture. I am 6 months post op and although I do not eat junk, I eat just about anything I want. I have no complications, and if I had to make the choice I would do it all over again. Yes this is permeate and change can be a scary thing, but change happens al the time, and it is a good thing. Try to keep focused on the good things as well as the little victories, like having more energy, feeling better, tying your shoes with ease. No one made any of us here the way we were, we did it to ourselves. So now you have decided to do yourself a favor and get yourself back to being happy and healthy. Is I it worth it? Ask yourself that question in say 6 months when you see the weight coming off and your confidence and your energy start going up, I think I know what your answer will be. Good Luck you will due fine -
Just beginning my journey....and new to this forum. :)
Waler replied to honeybadger's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome! You have come to the right place, lets clear you a spot on the loser bench. You will find this site to be very helpful, and if you have questions just put it out there. The only dumb question is the one that is not asked. Read some of the past posts when you get the time. You will find information about common stalls in weight loss and food tips to name a few. -
I would have to say I personally did not physically feel different before than I have felt once I healed up with a few positive exceptions. Once I healed up and got taking off weight I felt physically better and had a lot more energy. But as far as feeling any different from having a smaller stomach and appetite. Its all good!

Fun with Protein powder....
Waler replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
When it comes to Protein I find my bullet blender is my best friend. I like adding fruit to my protein, berries, banana, and even apple sauce. -

Waler replied to ididit34's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me 5 to 6 days per week for about an hour. 30 min on tred mill or bike, and 30 min of weight exercise. -
Sounds like you are doing well. I did not have any problems either. Relax and be amazed with your journey

I was 345 when I was had the sleeve done in August of this year and I am down 108 pounds. I think it is more what you and your surgeon agree is best for you. I had a lot of concerns about the mal-absorption issues that come with the bypass, and my doctor agreed,

Waler replied to Missy407's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
As a worker in the health care field I can tell you that is a definite HIPPA violation and you need to put a stop to that practice of emailing ASAP. -
headaches usually go with the caffeine withdrawals, as for being tired it took me a week or two to get back in the swing of things, but it gets better each day. Hang in there!

Regretting it already..(day 1)
Waler replied to ZombieQueen's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hang in there. Everyone here has been In the place you are right now, and trust me when I say it gets a lot better really quickly. Follow the instructions you are given, and Fluid intake is very, very important right now. Great things are coming your way soon, you just got to get through this rough spot, you`ll see. -
I had to put it out there I stepped on the scales today and have officially reached a 100 pound reduction since I started this journey. I did not think I would ever have gotten here as quickly as I have, but I follow my nuts recommendations by the letter, and do an hour of cardio a day. Just 45 more to go for my goal!!!

Why do I need a chest X-ray and blood work a week before surgery?
Waler replied to Joymarie333's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Those tests are standard for the most part. The blood work is to make sure you are not anemic, and to make sure your body chemistry, and your blood clotting factors are where they should be to give you the best possible outcome for your procedure. As was already stated the chest x-ray is to give them a look before they start because we are all different on the inside just as we are on the outside. Best of luck to you! -
Today I had to pinch myself! This is really happening!
Waler replied to pokeyvenus's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
What a great outlook you have! There are going to be a couple of rocky weeks and you`ll probably hit the dreaded plateau at one time or another, but that great positive attitude will serve you well. Congratz -
to get rid of the gas do some walking it really does help. IF they did not send you home with any medication to help you, you should get in touch with your doc. once you get that taken care of just hang in there it really does get better and it does not take very long. My first couple of days were a little rough but after that things got better really quickly.

First real stall after 100 pounds down, any ideas?
Waler replied to VDB's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am there with you as well. Lost 95 and now I am stuck as well. Have not been able to walk as much as I would like because I am waiting to see a podiatrist about a bout I am having with plantar fasciitis, but I have been doing 6 miles a day on my stationary bike. I am going to try up the mileage maybe that will help -
