Considering the sleeve, suggestions?
Waler replied to rgme1983's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a sleeve as well and do not regret a thing. It all boils down to what you are most comfortable with. As for drinks I waited for the ok but I am now back to drinking normal coffee, but I find some drinks too sweet now so I stick to my crystal light tea -
Just keep hanging in there it only gets better. Stick with your plan and you will see, just take it day by day right now

Do this for you! who cares what he thinks, or anyone else for that matter.

Im scared my op is after tomorrow
Waler replied to hamoudi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well you are going in for a fairly significant surgery, so It is only normal to be a bit nervous. Try to stay focused on the positive reasons you are doing this for. Over all better health, and probably adding years to your life. -
Any time I am in a stall I usually just up the amount of work I am doing in the gym. For example I will up the speed I am doing on the treadmill or increase the number of laps I swim per day. recently I just caught that cruddy flu bug going around and lost 7 pounds although that is not a way I would recommend.

I average anywhere between 900 to 1100 calories per day, and I go to the gym 1 1/2 hours a day. I am now up to running 3 miles a day and I swim about 1800 yards( a little over a mile).

Gastric bypass or sleeve
Waler replied to pattyoj's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I went with the sleeve because I did not like the thought of the absorption issues that go with the bypass. The best advice I can give you is do your homework and decide which is best for you, make an informed choice. I have had no issues what so ever with my surgery and I am quickly closing in on my goal. Go with what you are comfortable with and what your doctor thinks is best so you have the best chance of reaching your expectations. -
How can I take 70g of protein a Day HELP!
Waler replied to leonelbreton's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The isopure Protein powder I use gives you 50 grams of protein, no sugar, and no carbs. You should be able to pick up close to 20 more grams in your diet. If not double up on your shakes one In the morning one in the evening. -
it is mainly because caffeine is a diuretic which can cause you to become dehydrated, which is something you do not want to happen in the early post op days

Discrimination Against People Who Had WLS
Waler replied to Proud2BMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I totally agree with you on that point. If her idea of being unhealthy means I do not have to take medications to stay healthy and alive I`ll take that. -
just stick with it, before long you will be over this worst part of it.

Triglycerides up 5 months post-op?
Waler replied to gpmed's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
well try to keep in mind genetics can play a part in cholesterol. That being said if it is not genetic perhaps take a look at the Protein or other supplements, some are high in cholesterol. If it is something that runs in your family weight and exercise my not be enough to help you manage it. -
It`s all good, just relax and follow your plan. If you do what your suppose to do and take care of yourself the weight will come off. You will have stalls where you do not lose weight or maybe pick up a pound, it happens and it is normal. Take a deep breath and keep moving forward, stick to your plan and you will be fine.

I took 3 weeks and I was glad I did. I run a busy lab and I am on my feet a lot. I`m glad I took the extra time to get my strength back.

You are not alone there. Some days I seem to be really hungry, some days not so much. I just stick to my plan and go with healthy choices it`s all is good.
