Three Month Surgiversary
Waler replied to NYSuperDuck's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Grats and keep it up, you will not regret it. -
Speaking from experience I can only say I love who ever it was that invented the tens unit, with out that I would be miserable. When my back is acting up, which is more than I would like, I put my tens unit on and let that go for like 30 min to an hour. it really does help a lot.

Waler posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well to make a long story short I have been given the opportunity to have plastic surgery done on my mid section. It will be at no out of pocket cost to me but I am just not sure if I want to do it or not. feed back welcome -

The surgery would be done by a reputable surgeon in a large hospital. I don`t know maybe it is a guy thing. -

Well I am over a year out. as far as my goals I have exceeded them. I bounce around but stay right between 197 and 202 -
I do not want to come off sounding mean....here it comes...But I suffer from chronic knee pain. I have had surgery twice and I also have degenerative disks in my back. That being said stop letting pain define who you are what you and can not do. You and you alone need to take charge of your life in order to get where you want to be. If you believe something is preventing you from success...you are absolutely correct. You are the only one who can define your limitations

A little lost... help?
Waler replied to GACaldwell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This sounds to me like this is perhaps a job best handled by a clinical counselor. -
Garmin also does sleep tracking and lets you know when you have been not doing anything for too long, it has a red line that starts to go on the display. you can get all sorts of band colors
-
I use a Garmin viviofit it is cheaper than a fit bit, you can wear it swimming and the battery is good for a year without recharging. You can also view your steps, calories burned and time
-
I use body fortress creatine powder, it has no caffeine so I do not have the added concerns of dehydration
-
I have finally made it to that special place we call onederland today!!! Protein drinks are on me

as you stated you are only a week out, give it a little time for your body to adjust. IF you are talking about an A1C blood sugar test it could take a little while to see a change as it looks at basically a three month window of your average blood sugar.

Let's talk about our noisy achy knees.
Waler replied to ocgirl15's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have had trouble with my knees on and off for years. I had one knee operated on the other one my doctor gave me a synvisc injection. It is a gel that helps add cushion to your knee joint, it seems to have worked fairly well. I do about 3 miles a day on the treadmill every day without too much trouble. -
really the BMI charts are not all that realistic, that is why he told you that. They are based on height and a very low, borderline unhealthy body fat percentage. It sounds like he is more concerned with you having a healthy body composition which is more important.

Veterans ONLY please. One year + post op.
Waler replied to LipstickLady's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I am sorry, and you can dislike my post if you like, but I think you are having the attitude of an elitist jerk. People come here for help not to be talked down too. To get your little pedestal and proclaim you need to be treated special because you have been here longer is nothing more than a school yard mentality. I have been here longest....SO WHAT! that does not entitle you to anything. We are suppose to be here to help and support one another, not segregate people because they are new. If you take the time to actually look and listen you can sometimes find little kernels of information from even ....dare I say it newbies. I work in the medical field and new information comes in everyday, and maybe...just maybe you come off your high horse long enough some of it might actually filter threw to you. Everyone who is here has something to contribute and it is totally selfish for you to push people aside and make them feel less important because they are "NEWBIES" That's my two cents, I`m off my soap box now. -
How long is the procedure?
Waler replied to Wendydarling19's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

The stalls happen to everyone, just stick to your program. Yes it is hard sometimes but nothing worth anything comes easy -
that is one of those things that is probably best answered by your surgeon since everyone recovers differently
-
see you on the lighter side
-
Not trying to sound mean, but that is the point. For any number of different reasons we all decided that we need help to reach our goals and lead a happy healthier life. Speaking for myself I loved to eat way too much in fact. My sleeve has helped me realize I can eat a heck of a lot less than I was, and be satisfied and health. What you need to ask yourself, What have I ever got the easy way was worth anything? People may think this surgery is the "easy way" to lose weight. It is anything but. The trick to the whole thing is not just changing what your eating. It`s about changing the way you think about eating. Now you eat to live, you do not live to eat.

as a lab person I can tell you not to worry too much. High Protein can be caused by several things, even your diet. just relax and wait to see where it goes.

Beer and anything else with carbonation is probably not a good idea.

Considering surgery
Waler replied to jennmonterrozo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The best advice I can give you is to listen to what the NUT and your doctor tell you to do and stick to it. -
VITAMINS /LABS NEED HELP!
Waler replied to Womanvsmirror's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
same here! -
I agree! Don`t get too worried until you talk to a cardiologist about it. Mine came back abnormal, turns out they told me I have a valve that just has a slight flutter to it. Nothing to be concerned about nothing anyone would have even noticed had it not shown on the EKG
