Too cold to google I know being cold is one of the after affects of surgery. I assumed it was something that would happen later on, after a substantial weight loss. I'm 5 days out, 8 lbs down and freezing. Is this the coldness everyone warns about or am I being a baby about normal winter weather?

I had my follow up today. It's been 11 days. My surgeon said that at this point it's definitely from the weight loss, not the anesthesia. I was just surprised it happened so soon.

The other thing my NUT pointed out is that you can't drink anything with your meal, so be careful how spicy you go.

My NUT warned us about heavy periods during our last pre op class. She said it's due to all the estrogen that was previously being stored in fat being released into our bodies. She said when it happens (because it's very likely), we should call our gyn to discuss options first, then call her so we can see if we need more iron.

My copay for hospital admissions is $250, including all the surgery related costs. I feel very lucky.

The surgery went great. Most everything was as expected. I had some trouble staying awake in recovery so it took longer to get to my room. It's been much more comfortable than my c section recoveries. Lots of walking, liquids, and rest. I should be going home tomorrow around 9am. I had to have my incisions covered because I woke up picking at them twice. Thanks to everyone for the warm thoughts. It makes the process a little easier.

Hey...just checking on you since your surgery was today. Hope all is well. Thanks for checking in. Everything went well. I had trouble staying awake after surgery so I was in recovery longer, but it went smoothly. Lots of liquids and walking. Now some more sleep.

I'm so nervous. I leave for the hospital in about 90 minutes. Surgery at 11:15. I'm so ready for this to be over.

Just let them know you're not having anyone accompany you. You're not the first person. Make sure everything is labeled and they'll have a safe place for it.

I am, tomorrow. DH passed out when I was explaining the procedure to him at home. He's passed out before while visiting people in the hospital. He just doesn't do well with medical stuff. There's no need for him to be there so I told him to stay home unless he really wants to come visit after I'm back in my room. The program I'm going with is really awesome. At the final preop class, they have everyone say their surgery date so you can meet everyone having surgery the same day as you. Then I met another at support group. So now I know 4 or 5 people going through it at the same time as I am, so I'm sure we'll be roaming around together when we go for our walks. You can do it. It will totally be fine. You're strong enough to make it this far. You can handle this.

My doctor's office just called with the time. I have to be at the hospital at 9:15 on Monday. It's feeling real now.

I don't understand why the first comment was unprofessional. It didn't sound judgemental, but rather a warning. Practically every class, support group or appointment I've been to, there's been a warning of some sort. I think it's good to remember that the surgery isn't a cure, it's a tool.

I have the same date. No liquid diet here though. It sounds miserable. Good luck!

I wasn't expecting to have surgery until January, after my birthday on the 8th. I met with my case manager today and got my date. December 7. A month earlier than I planned. 3 weeks from yesterday. I'm excited and anxious now.

How exciting! I realized yesterday that my favorite pants are officially too big to be worn in public anymore. I wore them around the house anyway because I was stoked about it. I kept gloating to myself every time I gave them a little tug. "Oh dear, these pants are just too big now. I should go change." But then I didn't change lol. I had to pretend I wasn't a dork when DH got home because he doesn't get it.

I'm so excited. I just got an email saying I could schedule my psych eval. I've met with my surgeon already. I called to schedule the appointment, and they had just had a cancellation for tomorrow morning. I've already beaten my goal weight for surgery by a few pounds, so I should be able to schedule the surgery this week. Possibly tomorrow, if the person who does scheduling has an opening. I didn't think I'd be this excited at the prospect of scheduling surgery. Lol.

You could also volunteer to be the DD. Built in reason not to drink, but you could still go and have fun.

Congrats Amelia????????January 12th is my surgery date. I think mine will be around then. My birthday is 1/8, and my kids' Girl Scout troop has camp that weekend. Probably best to wait until after those events.

I'm hoping to have mine in December but it will most likely be January because of the holidays.
