You got room for another 'round here ?
mommy319 replied to Dub's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I order everything I can from vitacost.com and what I cant get there i'll order from amazon. Vitacost has good prices and i always use coupon code mobile527 for a 10% discount. The shipping is a flat fee no matter how much you order but they always have a free shipping deal. -
Think positive. If it is meant to be it will happen. I had a surgery date the first day I met with the surgeon and after all the appointments and tests it wasnt until 2 days before surgery that my ins co approved me. If you have done everything required of you then don't worry.

5 Days & Feeling Blue
mommy319 replied to JudeaJordon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 2.5 weeks post op. I was fine the first week. I was took weak to cheat. The last couple of days i want to eat everything I'm not supposed to. I am on soft foods but i've had a cookie and a few chips and pretzels. Made an appointment with my Nut to get some guidance. I feel like i'm pms'ng and the only control i have is that i cant eat as much as I want. I cheated during pre op but i kept losing as long as I had my protein and water. I come to these forums now like an addict looking for just a little motivational boost. When I slip I try to get right back on track. After all surgery was a pretty drastic move not to use it as the tool it was meant to be. Good luck to all of us. -
Protein. Water. Vitamins. B12.

No honey post op. At least not while you are trying to lose weight. Your body may not even be able to handle it. Honey is on the list of things to avoid along with sugar and candy.

Puree Stage Baby Food Blues
mommy319 replied to lrcarr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate creamed soups during puree stage. Creamy tomato bisque w parmesan was my go to. Otherwise i filled up on protein shakes and yogurt. I pureed a can of potato soup. No energy for homemade anything. -
Question from a pre-op
mommy319 replied to buzzly36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some things i bought and tolerated prior to surgery i couldnt stomach after. I have purchased multiple protein powders i couldnt stand as well as broth that i couldnt get down. I just purchased a tasteless protein powder that mixes well and you only need 1tbs to get in 30g. Genepro from amazon. -
You need protein. It is very important. Get in as much as you can. Protein and water.

I have not been really hungry since the surgery but i have had some tummy rumbles if i went too long without fluids.

Going back to work after surgery!
mommy319 replied to haleymarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not have pain to keep me from work but i was able to take paid time off. I work a desk job but was too weak to work the first five days because i have low iron and had trouble getting all the protein and water i needed. Some folks have no pain and feel energetic enough to return to work within days. Being on your feet might be too much especially if you cant sip on protein and water throughout the day. My highest weight was 238 and i was 218 the day of surgery. Diabetic with high cholesterol and anemia. If you can take frequent breaks at work to sip or rest you may be able to go back sooner rather than later. You may also want to check out the laws in your state regarding paid and unpaid medical leave. Good luck! -
OPURITY VITAMIN..? CALCIUM
mommy319 replied to RZD_1123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon is still in my pockets. He has his own line of protein shakes and powdered vitamins. Not bad either. -
I need advice! on food / stages and carbs
mommy319 replied to LilyK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Protein. Water and creamed soups might be a good place to start. Next is mushy foods like eggs, tuna, fish and ricotta cheese. After that is soft foods. Go slow till you figure out what your sleeve can handle. Always protein first. -
Happy Birthday! It will get better. I had a day where i was so weak from near dehydration that i was full of regret. I had surgery on 9/30 and so far i've had 1 day where i felt good. Now i dont have pain except a little soreness where my incisions were. I am very weak from extremely low iron. Each day does get a little better. Hang in there.

September Sleevers How are we doing?
mommy319 replied to Linaka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved 9/30 and home next evening. No pain but had a hard time meeting protein and water goal. 1 day of regret while weak from lack of protein and water. Feeling better each day. Only down 10lbs since surgery but down 1 size. I have low iron so I had to get iv treatment before discharge and have to get more so my energy is low. I still get out for some air and walking. 1 day at a time. -

No protein & no vitamins, is it a problem?
mommy319 replied to Melvyn96's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should be getting your protein. It helps with healing. Vitamins are necessary because you wont be able to eat enough to get the same nutrients.
