Hi folks! I'm Mary. I found BariatricPal through my friend Danielle who is already a member over here. I've always been overweight as long as I can remember, and nothing I did seemed to help more than a few pounds. The most sucessful thing I did was Quick Weightloss, until their handfuls of supplements with every meal created a hiatal hernia in my stomach which got me sick every time I took their stuff. So I quit that, and promptly gained back all the weight I'd lost.
When I saw that I'd tipped the scales at 330, after six months on my endocrinologist's prescription for high blood pressure (which caused the increase in weight), I got started with Dr. Robert Davis at the recommendation of my PCP. He got me started on the way toward having a gastric bypass surgery, which I just had 9/23/15.
In the two weeks before my surgery, I was on a liquid diet, that was difficult, and I never seemed to go into ketosis like they wanted. Since I was still losing weight, they said it was probably okay. I'd lost about 20 pounds from the first time I saw Dr. Robert, until the day of my surgery.
Now that I'm in the recovery process, I'm hoping to lose this weight for good. I need to lose more than half of what I weigh now. I have a strong support system with my family, friends, and coworkers. But I also have it really bad that I don't like to ask for help from people, so this is going to be a new step for me, in trying to get involved with other folks who are trying to lose weight and have already lost their weight.
